The Last of Us Part II Remastered: What PC Specs Do You Need to Run the Game?
Can your computer handle this clicker-killing journey?News
Originally released back to over 300 Game of the Year back awards in 2020, The Last of Us Part II has already gotten the remaster treatment, with upgraded graphics, a new randomized roguelike mode called No Return, some extra goodies (like full DualSense controller integration), and, of course, plenty of zombies. PS5 players got this remastered version last year, but now it's coming to PC, where it'll look its absolute best.

Can My Computer Run The Last of Us Part II?
Minimum Specs (Low graphics, 30FPS, 720p)
- CPU: Intel Core i3-8100, AMD Ryzen 3 1300X
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, AMD Radeon RX 5500XT
- RAM: 16 GBOS: Windows 10/11 64-bit (version 1909 or higher)
- Storage: 150 GB SSD
More and more we’re seeing low specs that are remarkably accessible but bury the lede a little bit. With part requirements that are nearly a decade old, TLoU II Remastered seems like an easy-to-run game until you realize those components don’t even get you 1080p; the minimum specs are for 30FPS at 720p. Is it playable? Yes. Is it optimal? Ehh.
Recommended Specs (Medium graphics, 60FPS, 1080p)
- CPU: Intel Core i5-8600, AMD Ryzen 5 3600
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, AMD Radeon RX 5700
- RAM: 16 GBOS: Windows 10/11 64-bit (version 1909 or higher)
- Storage: 150 GB SSD
Bumping up from minimum specs doesn’t have too much of an impact on the processor, but definitely causes a jump in the GPU requirement. The NVIDIA 3060 and AMD 5700 are both a few generations old and considered entry-level cards, which helps keep costs low for anyone who’s built a PC in the past five years - but even so, the overall barrier to entry has clearly crept up. At least recommended specs should get you 60FPS in a resolution from this century.
High Specs (High graphics, 60FPS, 1440p)
- CPU: Intel Core i7-9700, AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070, AMD Radeon RX 6800
- RAM: 16 GB
- OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit (version 1909 or higher)
- Storage: 150 GB SSD
The jump from Recommended to High hits Intel and AMD builders a bit differently. The Intel CPU requirement jumps a generation and adds product band increase, going from the Intel Core i5-8600 to the Core i7-9700, which means a whole computer rebuild (provided you could even get your hands on a 9700). Meanwhile, the AMD CPU is only a small bump. The GPU, however, sees a generation leap as well as a jump in product band with the RX 6800. Either way, expect a big gap for 1440p, 60 FPS gameplay.
Very High Specs (Very high graphics, 60FPS, 4K)
- CPU: Intel Core i7-11700, AMD Ryzen 7 5700X
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080, AMD Radeon RX 7900XT
- RAM: 32 GB
- OS: Windows 10/11 64-bit (version 1909 or higher)
- Storage: 150 GB SSD
While nothing in the Very High requirements are from the current generation of CPUs or GPUs, every component is a leap over High requirements. Both CPU and GPU requirements are near the top-end for their generation and even the RAM requirements double to 32GB. If you’re looking to make the most of TLoU II Remastered, you’ll need a fairly recent PC.
