My Top Travel 3D Prints
Five 3D printer projects to make life on the road a little easier.Maker Projects

As a globe-trotting writer/reporter/columnist, I travel pretty regularly, going from big tentpoles like CES to speaking gigs at events like Open Sauce 2025, to the Grand Openings of Micro Center stores in cities like Santa Clara and (soon!) Phoenix.
Packing for a trip always involves a certain amount of organized chaos, but I've gotten pretty good at it -- especially at getting everything I need into carry-on luggage. It should come as no surprise that 3D printing has been a big help with that, and I've used my Bambu A1 to create a bunch of useful travel accessories, nearly all with simple Inland PLA filament.
Below you'll find a curated list of some of my favorites. These designs can be found on sites like MakerWorld or Printables, and all solve very specific, real-world travel problems.

Purpose-built containers for small items
This Small Travel Container is a simple, screw-top design that provides a secure home for those little necessities, like a handful of painkillers or allergy pills.
Similarly, this Q-Tip Travel Case is a purpose-built container with a snug lid that holds just enough of these little guys, and it's got a cool, streamlined art deco look, too.

A simple, effective cable clip
I’ve tried every cable storage solution out there, from velcro straps to metal twist ties, but now I've printed dozens of these simple Cable Organizer clips. It's a deceptively simple design that just works, and comes in small, medium, and large sizes. You can also scale it up or down as needed in your slicing software. If I get more ambitious, I'll print them in different colors for different types of cable, USB-C, Lightning, etc.

A custom fix for my favorite travel mic
This Hollyland Lark M2 is my travel mic of choice, but its included carry case doesn't actually include a spot to stow the USB-C and Lightning receivers used to connect to your phone or laptop. This must be a popular mic choice, because there are easily two dozen 3D models for accessories and storage solutions for it. I printed this excellent Charging Case Backpack for Lark M2, which wraps around the entire carrying case and adds perfectly sized slots for those receivers.

A minimalist passport case
Your passport is your single most important travel document (especially if you don't have a RealID driver's license yet), so I always have mine when I fly. All I really wanted was a thin, rigid case to keep it from getting lost in my bags and this Slim Passport Case is exactly that. Plus it has a subtle textured design that looks sharp and includes an inside clip for cash or a boarding pass.
The real magic of having a 3D printer is the ability to create bespoke solutions for whatever your unique situation is. While these are some of my go-to prints for travel, they’re also a great starting point for finding or designing your own.
