Dell's Great PC Reboot: Meet the New Dell, Dell Pro, and Dell Pro Max
The PC giant's new naming system streamlines its laptop lineup for the AI era.News

Dell is kicking off 2025 with a major overhaul of its PC lineup, introducing a simplified naming convention that makes it easier for consumers to find the right computer for their needs. The company is consolidating its familiar XPS, Inspiron, Latitude, and other brands under three main categories: Dell, Dell Pro, and Dell Pro Max, with standard, Plus, and Premium tiers within each category.

- Dells describes the new brand names like this:
- Dell: Designed for play, school and work.
- Dell Pro: Designed for professional-grade productivity.
- Dell Pro Max: Designed for maximum performance.
So, for example, the mainstream Dell Inspiron line is now just Dell. The higher-end consumer XPS line is now Dell Premium. The Latitude business line is now Dell Pro, while the enterprise Precision PC line is now Dell Pro Max.
Alienware, Dell's iconic gaming brand, remains Alienware.
Each category offers three tiers: a base model for everyday use, a Plus version for enhanced scalability, and a Premium variant that emphasizes mobility and premium design. Dell says undertook this major rebranding because a sizable number of PC shoppers felt overwhelmed by the options, which often included a larger number of model names and numbers that weren't always intuitive.

Performance gets a boost across the board with the inclusion of Intel's latest Core Ultra processors and AMD Ryzen chips, both featuring integrated NPUs for AI tasks.
For power users, the Dell Pro Max series offers workstation-class performance, supporting tasks like AI model fine-tuning and professional graphics work. These machines can be equipped with NVIDIA RTX professional graphics cards and are available in both laptop and desktop forms.
Besides the Dell Pro 14 Premium, other highlights of new systems shown off at CES 2025 include:
- Dell 14 Plus
- Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1

AI gets a boost in new Dell Pro AI Studio
With all this talk of AI, and especially on-device AI (which we sometimes call Local AI), Dell is also building a framework to make it easier to use, especially considering the wide range of silicon vendors and CPUs, GPUs, and NPUs that might be involved.
The Dell Pro AI Studio suite includes frameworks, templates, models, and other tools that developers and IT administrators can use to build and manage AI software that's meant to run on-device.
