OUR HISTORY - SINCE 1979

In 1982, Computer Reseller News published their first Top 25 Computer Retailers list. Micro Center is the only store on that list that is still in the computer retailing business.

Why? Because since our founding, Micro Center has remained focused on being the best computer and electronic device store we know how to be and taking the best care of our customers. As competitors rushed to follow the latest trend, we followed our own path.

At a time when computer stores were 2,000-3,000 sq. ft., Micro Center was 30,000 sq. ft. on two floors. When “industry experts” declared the home computer dead in the 80’s and every other computer store focused on selling to the Fortune 500, Micro Center continued to concentrate on the consumer and small business. In the 90’s when other computer stores tried and failed to create their own computer brands, Micro Center introduced PowerSpec, still one of the most respected desktop computer brands after twenty years, and WinBook, which was a Top 10 notebook brand throughout the decade. And when other computer stores rushed to go public to cash in and get bigger faster, Micro Center knew that would limit our ability to put serving the customer first and decided to stay private. And while Micro Center grew more slowly, we stayed strong and survived as the bigger chains died.

Today our future has never been brighter. Widely acknowledged in the industry as the computer retailing experts, our business is growing and profitable, even as other retailers struggle with tough competition. Micro Center intends to continue to deliver to our customers the best selection, the best associates, the best service and the best value, and we remain confident that formula will prove as successful in the coming years as it has since our founding in 1979.

TRAINING - HOW CAN I GROW

At Micro Center, our teams are made up of motivated individuals who are encouraged to acquire new skills and grow as individuals. This is a place where your success and growth are truly a result of your own efforts and achievements.

Micro Center offers many training and development opportunities from day one. Our associates receive company culture and baseline technology training as new hires. Additionally, monthly online training courses on the latest technology from both our product vendors and those developed in-house are assigned. Our associates also receive live/in-person training and opportunities to “learn and earn” through many of our vendor partnerships. Retail Associates

Hourly positions in our retail stores include opportunities for customer service associates/cashiers, sales associates, warehouse associates and repair technicians. Our retail positions have flexible work schedules including nights and weekends.

Retail Leadership

In store management teams are responsible for the overall sales, operations and service functions of our multi-million dollar businesses and hundreds of store employees. Our managers must possess strong leadership skills for the various leadership positions that include Store General Managers, Assistant Store Managers of Sales, Operations and Service, Sales Supervisors and Customer Service Supervisors.


Corporate & Call Center

Our corporate home office is based in Hilliard, Ohio a suburb of Columbus. Merchandising, Purchasing, Visual Display, Marketing, Advertising, IT (Technology), Finance, Accounting and Human Resources are all located within our Hilliard Home Office. Our Retail Call Center and Technical Support Call Center are also located at our corporate home office. All of these departments offer a variety of positions and career opportunities within the company.


Distribution Center

Our distribution center located near our Hilliard, Ohio home office has a variety of hourly and supervisor level positions that offer flexible 1st and 2nd full time and part time shifts Monday through Saturday.
