OUR HISTORY - SINCE 1979

In 1982, Computer Reseller News published their first Top 25 Computer Retailers list. Micro Center is the only store on that list that is still in the computer retailing business.

Why? Because since our founding, Micro Center has remained focused on being the best computer and electronic device store we know how to be and taking the best care of our customers. As competitors rushed to follow the latest trend, we followed our own path.

At a time when computer stores were 2,000-3,000 sq. ft., Micro Center was 30,000 sq. ft. on two floors. When "industry experts" declared the home computer dead in the 80's and every other computer store focused on selling to the Fortune 500, Micro Center continued to concentrate on the consumer and small business. In the 90's when other computer stores tried and failed to create their own computer brands, Micro Center introduced PowerSpec, still one of the most respected desktop computer brands after twenty years, and WinBook, which was a Top 10 notebook brand throughout the decade. And when other computer stores rushed to go public to cash in and get bigger faster, Micro Center knew that would limit our ability to put serving the customer first and decided to stay private. And while Micro Center grew more slowly, we stayed strong and survived as the bigger chains died.

Today our future has never been brighter. Widely acknowledged in the industry as the computer retailing experts, our business is growing and profitable, even as other retailers struggle with tough competition. Micro Center intends to continue to deliver to our customers the best selection, the best associates, the best service and the best value, and we remain confident that formula will prove as successful in the coming years as it has since our founding in 1979.

Micro Center is looking for people like you with a technical background or simply a willingness to learn about the world of consumer electronics. We pride ourselves on having employees with the technical skills necessary to separate us from the competition and the people skills to keep our customers coming back. If you have a love of computers and electronics, then explore our variety of career opportunities and join our team of passionate associates today.

BENEFITS - LIVE LIFE WELL

My Path at Micro Center

Micro Center's goal is to be the Best Computer Device Store in the World! We achieve this by providing exceptional customer service and "taking care of the customer". We believe that if we start with great people then great results will follow. In order to do this we have to take care of our associates so they can provide exceptional customer service to our customers. We do this by offering competitive benefit options that will enhance not only your physical wellbeing, but your mental and financial wellbeing as well. All full-time associates are offered the following benefit options:

My Path at Micro Center

Part-time Telemedicine Benefit

All part-time associates are now eligible for a new telemedicine plan offered through CirrusMD. You can receive immediate, on-demand care 24/7/365 from a live doctor via live chat from wherever you are. Instead of waiting for an appointment, taking time off from work and paying to visit the doctor, you can use CirrusMD to connect instantly from your phone or computer as soon as symptoms arise. Doctors are licensed to practice across the U.S., answer within seconds and can even prescribe medication when necessary – allowing you to access comprehensive care on your schedule, your budget, and your terms. If you prefer, you can also use Zoom or a phone call to connect with a CirrusMD doctor.

Eligibility
All regular part-time associates (less then 29 hours) are eligible on the first of the month following 60 days of part-time employment.

What is CirrusMD?
CirrusMd is a text-based virtual care platform that is being offer to all part-time employees that meet the eligibility requirements. CirrusMD allows you securely connect to a real doctor in under a minute. No waiting, appointments or time limits-just instant access to doctors who can help.

The CirrusMD experience is similar to texting. After you register, start securely messaging with a doctor just like you would text a friend. Start and stop your conversations at any time and use the platform as often as you’d like.

Hospital Indemnity Insurance

How does it work?
Hospital Indemnity Insurance helps covered employees and their families cope with the financial impacts of a hospitalization. You can receive benefits when you’re admitted to the hospital for a covered accident, illness or childbirth.

Why is this coverage so valuable?
  • The money is paid directly to you — not to a hospital or care provider. The money can also help you pay the out-of-pocket expenses your medical plan may not cover, such as co-insurance, co-pays and deductibles.
  • You get affordable rates when you buy this coverage at work.
  • The cost is conveniently deducted from your paycheck.

Who can get coverage?
  • You – if you’re actively at work.
  • Your Spouse - Can get coverage as long as you have purchased coverage for yourself.
  • Your Children- Dependent children from newborn until their 26th birthday, regardless of martial or student status.

You have two options to choose from.

PARENTAL LEAVE POLICY

Purpose
Micro Electronics, Inc. recognizes that the addition of a child, while wonderful and exciting, is also life-changing and can cause a certain level of stress as daily routines are adjusted to accommodate your new family member. To help support you during this adjustment period and to assist with bonding, Micro Electronics, Inc. allows eligible new parents adding to their family by birth (including surrogacy), adoption (of a child 17 years old or younger), legal guardianship (of a child 17 years old or younger), or long-term foster care placement (of a child 17 years old or younger), to take up to three (3) weeks of Parental Leave. This policy is for any child(ren) born, placed with you for adoption, foster care or by legal guardianship on or after January 1, 2023.

Eligibility
All Regular FT associates (30+ hours) with 90 days of service are eligible for this leave. (Seasonal, temporary, intern and PT associates are ineligible).

Amount and Use of Parental Leave
  • Eligible employees will receive a maximum of three (3) weeks of Parental Leave per birth, adoption, legal guardianship, or long-term foster care placement of a child or two or more children. The amount of Parental Leave does not increase with: (i) multiple births (e.g., twins) or the placement of multiple children at or about the same time; or (ii) more than one type of placement for the same child or children (e.g., placement of the child or children for foster care and later adoption). Legal guardianship does not include guardianship solely for purposes of managing a child’s finances.
  • All Parental Leave is paid at 60% of the employee’s base pay (average hourly rate for Retail Sales and Merchandising Associates and Service Technicians). Paid Parental Leave will be paid through the employee’s paycheck on regularly scheduled pay dates. All benefit deductions will continue during this time including 401(k) deductions; PTO will not accrue and holidays will not be paid while on Parental Leave.
  • If your state offers a parental leave benefit, you will be expected to apply for that benefit and we will offset those state payments so please provide a copy of your state payment amounts so that we can ensure proper payment. However, we will start your payments immediately to avoid any disruption in pay while you are awaiting state benefits. You can also take any accrued vacation and/or absence pay to offset your parental leave pay up to 100% of earnings.
  • Approved Parental Leave may be taken at any time during the twelve-month period immediately following the birth of your child(ren) or placement of the child(ren) with you for adoption or long-term foster care or by legal guardianship. Parental Leave may not be used or extended beyond this twelve-month time frame.
  • Employees must take Parental Leave on a continuous basis (except to the extent that intermittent leave is authorized by an applicable state or local leave law and such leave runs concurrently with the leave provided under this policy).
  • Should you leave the Company, you would not be paid for any unused paid Parental Leave for that you did not take.

Coordination with Other Leave and Paid Time Off Benefits
  • Employees who are giving birth to a child may be eligible for paid maternity leave and/or medical leave and disability benefits during the period of temporary disability associated with childbirth, which is typically six weeks for a normal delivery and eight weeks for delivery by cesarean section. Parental Leave is provided in addition to that time off during which short-term disability benefits are being paid.
  • For employees who begin a Parental Leave on or after January 1, 2023, Parental Leave will run concurrently (i.e., at the same time) with any other applicable leaves, including leave under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act and similar state and local laws, and Micro Electronics, Inc. FMLA /Non-FMLA Medical/Military Leave Policy, as applicable, and is counted towards an employee’s annual leave entitlement under any applicable laws and policies.
  • If an employee is entitled to paid leave benefits under state or local law, this policy will be administered to avoid duplication of benefits. Please refer to the applicable state paid family leave supplement for additional information. Keep in mind each state has different qualifying events for leave as well as different payment schedules and time allotments.

Requests for Paid Parental Leave and Documentation
  • •Please provide your manager and Human Resources with notice of the request for leave at least 30 days prior to the proposed date of the leave (or if the leave was not foreseeable, as soon as possible). You can complete the necessary forms and provide all documentation, as required by Human Resources, to substantiate the request as soon as possible to avoid delay of your leave or your payments. We’ll require you to furnish appropriate attestation documentation for the birth of a child, surrogacy, adoption, long-term foster care placement or legal guardianship.

Other Employment During Leave
While on leave, you may not work another job or seek employment elsewhere and may be subject to release from Micro Electronics, Inc. should this occur, subject to applicable law.

Additional Information
To Apply for your Parental Leave, please complete the Leave Request Form on the People Assist portal by clicking https://microcenter.employee.hrsd.ultipro.com/request-forms/fmla-leave-of-absence-submission. You can also log onto UKG Pro>GET HR ASSISTANCE>search for Leave of Absence to get the Leave of Absence Submission Form.

Return to Work
Employees will be expected to return to work at the end of the scheduled leave unless an application for another leave is made and approved. Remember that we do not allow you to stack your leaves. You will be returned to the same position or to an equivalent position except in situations that you would not be entitled to return to the same position. Business needs may require that your scheduled be modified upon your return and we will provide appropriate notice of that change. We hope these benefits help you balance and enjoy your new addition to your family!

MATERNITY LEAVE POLICY

Purpose
Micro Electronics, Inc. recognizes that the addition of a child, while wonderful and exciting, is also life-changing and can cause a certain level of stress as you recover from childbirth and adjust your daily routine to accommodate your new baby. To help you recover from childbirth and allow for bonding time, Micro Electronics, Inc. gives birthing parents adding to their family up to five (5) weeks of Paid Maternity Leave effective for any child(ren) born on or after January 1, 2023. In addition, you are also eligible for up to three (3) weeks of Paid Parental Leave (which can be added to your Paid Maternity Leave or taken any time up to a year after the birth of your baby).

All Regular FT associates (30+ hours) with 90 days of service are eligible for this leave. (Seasonal, temporary, intern and PT associates are ineligible).

Amount and Use of Maternity Leave
  • Eligible employees will receive a maximum of five (5) weeks of Maternity Leave after the birth of a child or two or more children. The amount of Maternity Leave does not increase with multiple births (e.g., twins).

However, we will start your payments immediately to avoid any disruption in pay while you are awaiting state benefits. You can also take any accrued vacation and/or absence pay to offset your maternity leave pay up to 100% of earnings.
  • Approved Maternity Leave is taken immediately following the birth of your child(ren) and is taken in consecutive weeks (except to the extent that intermittent leave is authorized by an applicable state or local leave law and such leave runs concurrently with the leave provided under this policy).
  • If you leave Micro Center, you do not get paid for any unused paid Maternity Leave for which you were eligible but did not take.

Coordination with Other Leave and Paid Time Off Benefits
  • Employees who are giving birth to a child may also be eligible for medical leave and disability benefits during the period of temporary disability associated with childbirth, which is typically six weeks for a normal delivery and eight weeks for delivery by cesarean section.
  • Paid Parental Leave is provided in addition to that time off during which short-term disability benefits are being paid. Parental Leave allows you to take additional time off after your pregnancy-related disability ends to bond with your child(ren) for up to three (3) weeks.
  • If you are eligible for the maximum Medical Leave and Parental Leave benefits, you can take up to a combined total of eight (8) weeks of paid leave (60% or pay) during and after pregnancy. Unless you are returning to work right after the medical portion of your maternity benefit ends, you should request your Parental Leave immediately after Medical Leave. The intent is to count all the time off you take for this purpose (or any other FMLA-qualifying purpose) towards your FMLA or other state leave allotments. Please be sure to read the Medical Leave and Parental Leave policies as there are important details you need know.

ENHANCED VACATION POLICY

Vacation is a reward for time worked and is provided to allow paid time off for planned time away from work for rest and relaxation or to attend to important personal matters. All regular full-time and part-time employees accrue vacation monthly beginning from their date of hire. Employees may use their accrued vacation immediately with no waiting period effective January 1, 2023. A vacation day for full-time employees is based on an 8 hour day. A vacation day for part-time employees is pro-rated based on the average number of hours worked in a 40 hour work week.

Full-time Vacation Accrual
Anniversary/Service Date Monthly Accrual Annual Earning Rate
1st monthly anniv date – 60th month 6.667 Hours 80 Hours
61st month to 120th month 10 Hours 120 Hours
121st month and thereafter 13.334 Hours 160 Hours

Part-time Vacation Accrual
Anniversary/Service Date Every 86.67 hours worked Annual Earning Rate
1st monthly anniv date – 60th month 3.334 Hours 80 Hours
61st month to 120th month 5 Hours 120 Hours
121st month and thereafter 6.667 Hours 160 Hours

Vacation Guidelines
  • Vacation days are available after they are earned and may be taken in increments of hours.
  • Payment cannot be obtained in lieu of vacation days.
  • Accrued unused vacation may be carried over from one year to the next but the total may not exceed a maximum of two times your Annual Vacation Earning Rate. Once the maximum is reached, further accruals will cease until the accrued balance has been reduced below the maximum.
  • Vacation does not accrue while you are on an approved medical or personal leave. A leave of thirty or more days will result in an adjusted anniversary/service date.

We realize that personal circumstances may arise that require you to be absent from work. Absence days are granted annually and are provided as protection against loss of income should you need to miss work. Please report your absence to your supervisor as soon as it is anticipated or recognized so that your supervisor can provide direction. Typically absence time is used for personal illness, doctor or dentist appointments, an approved medical leave of absence, caring for an ill family member or friend, a death in the family, personal appointments, school meetings, etc. Payment is not given in lieu of absence time and absence time may be used in increments of days or hours. You may be required to provide documentation for certain absences to receive your Absence Pay or to be eligible to return back to work. Any absences after absence pay is used are unpaid. You may be subject to our attendance and reliability policy for any absences regardless of whether you've received pay for those absences.

In general, associates get 5 days per year except where state requirements dictate otherwise. The maximum balance allowable is 80 hours per year.
