Micro Center Launches In-Store Game Console Repair Service
The new service, starting in a four-city pilot program, will fix common problems on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo consoles, from broken drives to HDMI ports.News

It’s a scenario familiar to many gamers: Your PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo Switch is outside its warranty period, and something goes wrong. A disc drive stops reading discs, an HDMI port won't output a signal, or the battery on a Switch can barely hold a charge.
Historically, the options have been limited. You could either attempt a DIY repair, seek out a local or online fix-it shop of unknown quality, or simply give up and buy new hardware.
But now, a new option is available for out-of-warranty consoles. Micro Center is launching an in-store repair service for popular current-generation game consoles, bringing the same level of expert service we provide for PCs and laptops to the console world.
The new program will initially be available starting the week of August 4 at four Micro Center locations: Tustin, Houston, Miami, and Westmont. A chain-wide launch is planned for the near future.
Consoles and repairs covered
The new service will cover a wide range of common hardware issues for the most popular consoles from Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo. Here is a detailed breakdown:
Sony PlayStation
- Models: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 (Standard, Pro, Slim, and Digital Editions)
- Repairs: Disc drive replacement, HDMI port replacement, and console cleaning.
Microsoft Xbox

- Repairs: Disc drive replacement, HDMI port replacement, and console cleaning.
Nintendo Switch

Controllers and the new Switch 2 are not initially covered by this pilot program, but stay tuned for future updates.
