NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Build Guide
Watch us put together a subtle, understated gaming powerhouse.PC Build Guides
It’s been a busy few months for NVIDIA, with the launch of the 50 Series GPUs, including the 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti, and, as of today, the GeForce RTX 5070. The GeForce RTX 5070 is aimed right at PC builders looking to put together a mid-range, 1440p PC that’ll crush both AAA and esports titles.

To celebrate the launch of the GeForce RTX 5070, we put together a subtle, nearly-all-black build that will look good no matter where in your house it is. Plus, with plenty of RAM, a killer CPU, and, of course, the RTX 5070, this is a build that will keep gaming for a long time to come.
The Build:
Video Card: ASUS NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Prime Triple Fan 12GB GDDR7 PCIe 5.0 Graphics Card
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 is where NVIDIA officially starts to break into mid-range GPU territory, but don’t let that trick you into thinking it's not a killer card. With 6,144 CUDA cores, 12GB of GDDR7, 988 TOPS, and, of course, DLSS 4, the 5070 promises to be an incredible 1440p card for anyone looking for a budget-friendly mid-range build.
Motherboard: ASUS B650-A ROG Strix Gaming WiFi AMD AM5 ATX Motherboard
We love to show off our Micro Center Bundles when building PCs, and this build is no exception. We’ll be upgrading the motherboard of our 7800X3D bundle to the ASUS B650-A ROG Strix board, which features one of my favorite mobo design changes of the past few years: the PCIe Slot Q-Release, which makes popping out a GPU for upgrades as easy as pressing a button. The B650-A ROG isn’t just jam packed with plenty of connectivity options, WiFi 6E, and RGB; It’s designed with PC builders in mind.
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D Raphael AM5 4.2GHz 8-Core Boxed Processor
If you’re building a gaming PC, an AMD’s X3D processor like the Ryzen 7 7800X3D is the way to go. Using AMD’s exclusive V-Cache technology, the 7800X3D has over 100MB of cache so your computer can store more quick-access information in the CPU which translates to faster frame rates when gaming.
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken 240mm All in One Liquid CPU Cooling Kit - Black
AIOs are far from the scary water-cooling solution they once were. Coolers like the NZXT Kraken 240mm offer reliable, easy-to-install processor cooling power that can keep even high-powered chips like the 7800X3D nice and cool.
RAM: G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5-6000 PC5-48000 CL36 Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit
When building a new PC, RAM is often an afterthought; something that’s grabbed on the way to checkout. However, it’s important to make sure you’re grabbing the right generation and that it has enough memory for both games and work. The G.Skill Flare X5 is blazing fast DDR5 RAM, and included in our bundle, so you can be sure it’ll work with the motherboard. The new recommended capacity is 32GB of RAM, but if you need more it’s easy to slot in another set of RAM and double your capacity.
Storage: SK Hynix Gold P31 2TB 128L 3D TLC NAND Flash PCIe Gen 3 x4 NVMe M.2 Internal SSD
SSDs are no longer an optional part of a PC build. While there was a time that they were simply nice-to-haves, with the advent of games like Monster Hunter Wilds, they’ve become an absolute must-have. Plenty of games that don’t require an SSD greatly benefit from one, with quicker load times so you can spend less time watching a spinning circle. This 2TB M.2 from SK Hynix has more than enough storage for a primary drive, so you can keep your OS and most-played rotation of games on hand, ready to go when you are.
PSU: C850 850 Watt 80 Plus Gold ATX Fully Modular Power Supply (Black) - ATX 3.1 Compatible
As GPUs have gotten more powerful, so too have their power needs. If you’re upgrading, be sure to check your power supply before building. However, if you’re building fresh, there are a few things to look out for: the wattage, rating, and modularity. The NZXT C850 is a gold-rated, 850 watt fully modular power supply. In other words: high efficiency, high power, and low cables; perfect for a fancy new PC!
Case: NZXT H5 Flow (2024) Tempered Glass ATX Mid-Tower Computer Case - Black
NZXT’s H5 Flow is a classy, understated case that will fit perfectly with this build. With no RGB, the only lights will be coming from our silver motherboard, accenting the interior of this otherwise all-black build with a subtle glow. If you’re looking for a case that won’t seem out of place in a living room, this is one of our favorite options.
