I have been wanting to do a sleeper build for a while, but when I initially looked at the cases I had to choose from, I realized that I'd have to put in some elbow grease and I got deterred. 2 years later and I decided to fully commit on the idea! The most annoying part about the build is definitely the cooling; I cannot run the PC with the side panel on if I'm doing any amount of gaming as the air intake and outake between the two fans are just not good enough for it to cool the system. Had to dremel out the back of the case (similar to https://i.imgur.com/NN9qdhg.jpeg), preparing the case was a bit of a mess but it worked out in the end! I do have an unorthodox cooling setup as the back fan mount was a weird size. However, the stock fan on the stock cooler of the 5600X fit perfectly! I unfortunately broke the plastic that was keeping it connected to the AMD shroud that surrounds it, so I can no longer claim warranty on it at Micro Center. I had to drill holes in the metal portion in the front of the case (behind the plastic cover that goes over front I/O). I also had to drill holes in the Gateway piece that attaches to that cover so that air flows through it slightly better. I also had to buy a 3.5" to 5.5" adapter to mount my HDD inside the PC. I tried 3D printing out a mount but it did not screw into the piece so I bought a $5 adapter from Amazon. It gets the job done, but I had to use the black front piece that covers it as opposed to the original PC case piece, as the original juts out enough to where it does not fit.

PC 2 I made for my spouse to work on and also play pc games with me. Most of the games I play are found on Steam, Blizzard, Epic Games, LoL, Valorant, etc. I'm a OIF/OEF Vet myself, my teenage kids wanted to get into PC gaming (they're "upgrading" from consoles/Fortnite) and I come from an automotive repair background so putting together a PC is trivial in comparison to an engine or fine tuning suspension for an auto cross track. Anywho, future upgrades to include the new 6800 XT or some 3080's were available but I'll deal with having 5700 XT's for now as a place holder. Almost returned both these NZXT cases (still within 30day window) and buy 2 new Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini cases + 12*LL120 case fans but too lazy to take apart both PC components JUST to have the NEW case.

It wasn't an easy process to do so please, bear with me. I've always wanted to build a gaming pc because of the performance and the content creator aspect that PC's made so easy. The main problem, however, was always money for one thing. As a 15 year old, if I wanted this to happen, I'd have to make it happen myself. So, me and a couple friends got together and worked to wash cars all summer. We made a good amount of money doing it also. At least more than working at a movie theatre or fast food restraunt. Finally, in November, my parents said they'd let me build it since my greats were extremely good. My local Microcenter in Marietta made it SO easy to help modify my design and to help me get the parts I needed for my build. Just walking around I was never short of a staff member asking me if I needed any help finding anything. On thanksgiving day, I built my pc with my brother who's 16, who has yet to build a pc since he didn't get enough money due to getting few hours at the job he got because of Covid-19. However, I'm determined to make content on either Rocket League or Cyberpunk 2077 when it drops on the 10th. However, for that I need a webcam and a mic, which is what I'd use the money for. However, I never would've been able to make my setup and pc if it weren't for y'all at Micro Center, so regardless if I win, thank you. Your staff members were so polite and everything worked perfectly. Thank you Micro Center! ps I know my setup won't look nearly the best out of these submissions but I'm working more over the holidays and I hope to fix that lol

I do business, photography, gaming, video editing, streaming and race sim / vr all from this bad boy. Slowly upgrading parts over time allows me to stay on top of the trends but I think I found a point where an upgrade isn't necessary (unless 3080s become easily in stock) I'll try to get better pictures later lol

I played on a gaming laptop for awhile but it was time to build something for myself and call it my own. I built it to be able to play with my friends who also built their own PCs. Also there was quite the incentive when I realized the greater performance you get on a PC when compared to a console, especially when playing cross-platform games. I play Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch, and Destiny 2 mainly. It definitely was a fun time putting it all together with the help of my roommates. I can definitely tell the difference from my Xbox One and my gaming laptop (which had a 1660ti in it). It runs very smooth and boots up super quick with the M.2 drive. At first I was a tad hesitant to get an AMD card because Nvidia is the top dog but so far, I've had no regrets as it has proven itself worthy for giving my the frames I want in games.

Back in 2014 I got my first proper gaming PC. Then it was just low end, bought by my parents, built by person at the store. All midrange economical parts. Since then I've been pretty hooked into PC gaming as a whole. Previously I had a gaming laptop so going from laptop to desktop was a huge change, so big I wondered how on earth I was using a laptop for so many years. Fast forward 2019. I've now graduated from college, got a job, and have money for once in my life. I'm still all the time following youtubers like LinusTechTips and whatnot and always just following the latest tech, always seeing glamorous PC builds. From watching those videos everyday for years, I always wanted to feel the awesomeness of a proper high end build. So it was a dream of mine to build something that would be a gaming beast and a huge upgrade from my previous build as well. I wanted to go pretty much all out, no compromises but within a reasonable budget as I'm just not loaded with cash. I had to save up for this for well over a year. I started buying things slowly overtime with all my peripherals like my keyboard, mouse, chair, table, and stuff. Last piece was going to be the main PC itself and monitor upgrade. I bought things with the idea in my head, one and done. Like if I buy this, I'm not going to want to replace it at all. It was exactly what I would have wanted in my dream scenario. Then came time where I was ready to buy, and Ryzen 3000 was about to launch. I've been doing months of just looking at PC parts and watching youtube reviews of every part so I knew exactly what I would want. I've been watching many build videos, even bought PC Building Simulator so I can practice building since I didn't want to have someone else build my pc for me. I went to Microcenter right on launch day, July 7th and bought myself a Ryzen 3900X, with a brand new x570 motherboard, fancy new pcei gen 4.0 5gb/s m.2 ssd. I got the works, then two days later I picked up the brand new RTX 2070 Super on launch day and got the monitor to go along with it. Certainly can't afford a 2080ti but that gpu was powerful enough and at a good price point where it wasn't terrible performance per dollar. I didn't go overkill with any part of this PC, everything I use 100% to the fullest. I game almost everyday on it. I like to stream as well on occasion. I want to make youtube videos on it. I use it for school and work. This thing just flies through everything I throw at it. I love it. Any changes I would make to the build would simply be adding another 16gb of ram to it. I'm for sure going to buy the new RTX 3080 and plug that into my PC. I'll eventually add in another m.2 ssd eventually and one that'll be even faster. I also wish to add in a good standard ssd as well, my current standard ssd in it is unfortanetly dramless which I didn't really know about at the time, and I feel like when running games on that it acts not as well as an ssd should. I wish that my cpu cooler and the fans with it would sync up with my other devices, also my mouse and speakers so it would be all one light sync.

My old laptop was dying so decided to build a PC to kill time in the middle of this Covid. I first built a budget system under $800 for some light CAD, youtube, 4K playback, coding and web browsing. But after 2 weeks. I felt this strong urge to "upgrade" because who doesn't want to be a PC master race, right, right (please say yes so I don't feel bad about my decision)? Anyways, my brain said "no" but my hands took out the credit card and now I am here posting this. I am starting to think that this rig might be too big, and looking at some ITX builds now. I should let my wife keep the credit card because that "urge to upgrade" is hitting me again.

My son, Chuy, was an avid PS4 fortnite player until I proved him wrong that PC's are way better at gaming. We made a bet that if I built a "Gaming PC Rig" it would beat his PS4 loading times and have a higher resolution (1440p of course). Sure enough he's addicted to his new PC while the PS4 is now collecting dust. And truthfully, I've never ever built one completely from scratch. I've tinkered and upgraded, but never a full on build. I built this computer to play RTX games like Control, other third person action games, FPS games of all kinds, and those "walking simulators" like Firewatch and What Remains of Edith Finch. I LOVE a great game story. I mostly play PC games like Destiny 2 and Deliver us the Moon... as well as fun VR games like Half-Life: Alyx & Beat Saber. I also love to stream with my family with games like Davigo VR, Fall Guys, Minecraft, Overwatch, Fortnite, Splitgate, Among Us, and others! Our Twitch channel is BurtonFamGaming. This rig is a gaming, VR, streaming PC... mostly for me (Dad), but also for the whole family (only... with Dad's permission of course. Only I have the password) :-D If I could go back, I might have waited a few months so I could purchase a 3080... but oh well. :-) I researched this for most of quarantine before finally building it about 4 weeks ago... so frankly, there's not much I would change about how I built it. The ONLY thing I wish I had done was perhaps get an X570 board or the ROG Strix B550-E so I'd get that Gen 2 Type C front header. I also plan to upgrade to 32 gigs of ram before long... but besides that, I'm really happy with it!

I built this gaming computer to switch over from console gaming to PC gaming with the focus in high frame rates. I have had a passion for computer building for a few years now thanks to Youtubers like Jayztwocents, Bitwit, Paul's Hardware, Linus Sebastian from LTT. With this build I focused on price per performance at the start and over a year switched out parts and upgraded where I felt like a needed improvement to get where I am now with my rig. I also did the best I could with cable management to make it look as clean as I possibly can. the last and only upgrades I want for my build is two 140mm fans for my front intakes to even out the air flow within my case. I will always work and continue to perfect this build as long as I own it.

In addition, I will be using this PC to play all the Xbox titles that I like such as Gears of War and Halo. This PC is pretty much the vehicle I will be using to enhance my gaming experience and get off of PlayStation Island. The secondary reason for this PC is to get used to windows 10 again. I have been an Apple fan boy as well and my family has been this way for about 10 years. The only PC I have in my house was a small ASUS from Walmart that was only used to run Microsoft Project for my project management courses in my MBA. The old computer that I used mainly for gaming decided to break on me so in order to get replacement parts I would've had to wait 2 weeks for Amazon to restock. I checked the Microcenter website and realized they had everything in stock and even had some better prices. The nearest Microcenter to me was four hours away at the Marietta location in Atlanta (btw we need a Microcenter in Nashville, thanks). I figured a day trip was better than having to wait on Amazon. Since my old pc was lacking a little anyway I decided to get a big upgrade, Ryzen 3700x with an RTX 2070 Super, by far the most I've spent on a PC upgrade. I decided to go all out and try for some nice RGB, in hindsight I wish I mounted the RGB fans at the top instead of the front as I didn't realize the Lian Li LanCool 2 already had RGB on the front. This case was a dream to build in by the way and made cable management very easy. While my adventure to the great Mecca that is Microcenter was long, it was indeed worth every hour on the road. As an RGB fan and a Corsair fanboy through and through I decided to go all in. As a Microcenter employee there was no better place to get everything I needed all at once than my own store in St.Davids PA. Every component I selected was carefully planed out with advice from our BYO staff to fit MY needs and desires , not theirs. It is very easy to become overwhelmed by the sheer number of options and frills or to even understand WHY one component would be a better fit over one that is seemingly the same. This is a 1440p focused gaming rig that can chew through any new AAA title with features maxed and mid range titles at excess of 120fps without breaking a sweat. Because Ryzen and RTX chips take advantage of thermal throttling to maintain consistent performance I decided on a fully Corsair Hydro X hard line liquid cooling loop. With this configuration my GPU idles at 27c and under a full load caps out at 42c and my CPU idles at around 38c and caps out at 68c under load. By maintaining temps below the thermal threshold while under load I can be comfortable knowing that I am getting every mhz of potential power I paid for. As a fan of corsair peripherals and their ICUE rgb system I chose a 680x case. Because corsair believes in broad compatibility every fan and cooling component has various options for placement. That is not to say if you are going Hydro X that you have to use a corsair case. Cases are like shoes, you like what you like. At the same time , dont start with the case unless you are doing a SFF build... Pick the parts you want and find a case you like that both accommodates the current build but provides you with enough flexibility to make future upgrades if need be. I also opted to place 2x 2tb Inland Premium NVME SSDs in RAID 0 , not for performance as the gains are negligible, but for the vanity reason of having a single 4tb drive to install everything to the same drive letter. This is one extravagance I strongly recommend against if you are unfamiliar with maintaining a raid as you may find yourself in a situation where you could loose everything and need to rebuild it. IF you do opt for a NVME RAID configuration , do so knowing that on X570 chipsets currently you must disconnect all SATA devices from the motherboard every time you update the BIOS or revert back to default BIOS settings for any reason or the machine will not post. Hard line liquid cooling can be daunting and can seriously damage components if any one component is not installed properly, but this build could just as easily been done with safer albeit less visually appealing soft tubes. The service departments in Microcenter stores will also work with you to design and assemble a custom cooling loops. It takes a lot of time and patience to make the proper bends to make a truly awe inspiring build and our people really know their stuff. As someone who has been liquid cooling computers since Koolance began making consumer products (20 years?) I was over confident and opted to do it myself. But again every tool and material I needed was available in store for my immediate satisfaction. You may however notice that despite my experience and even with careful and meticulous planning and measuring one of my bends ended up a little bit off. While I fully intend to replace the run, it doesn't look bad at all. The reason I did not replace it before filling is quite simple, these bends were a test run for my even more daunting next attempt... A no angled fitting glass tube run (start TBD). I also intend to swap the motherboard and pcie power cables with cablemods colored cloth braided extensions. COVID-19 has brought much of the world to a halt but Microcenter has been open through it all and we will continue to serve the country in making sure you can get all of the technology needed to keep working and be entertained in your own home. *some components are not availble via the part selector so i included current SKUs in the comments so that you may search microcenter.com . I also omitted peripherals but I utilize all corsair. K95 Platinum Keyboard - Dark Core SE mouse - Void Pro headphones - ST100 Headphone stand - MM800 RGB mouse pad (prefer RGB over the MM1000 Qi because i have a wireless charge on my desk anyway)
