This is the full components list for the PC Linus assembled in our Denver, Colorado store for his video about the new AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990x processor. In his video, Linus was tasked with assembling the following components to create an extremely powerful $10,000 workstation PC. The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990x just launched yesterday on February 7, 2020. This processor has 64 cores, 128 threads, and 256mb cache. Linus made some alterations to the build on day of filming in order to water-cool the GPUs. He had a time crunch, but he got it done, and we really love the finished product!

This machine is a culmination of several years of saving and several months of hunting parts on every possible retailer. Sitting out in the lines in front of Micro Center on cold January mornings, watching dozens upon dozens of browser tabs from every possible online retailer refreshing across six displays. Finally, it runs. 2019/2020 were some pretty rough years so this is a present to myself. Cable management isn't complete because PCIE riser cable is not PCIE4.0 compatible, and the card has to come out again at some point, the radiator also has to be remounted because supplied screws weren't quite long enough, and there is temporary hardware installed for now. AIO head unit cover is not in place until radiator is remounted (need hose slack to install).Once all cable management is complete and parts are finally in place permanently, all the peel will come off. Practically 100% ASUS ROG build, hence the build name, ROG HARD.. Raid took some effort to get working as the documentation hasn't been updated for 5000 series CPU's. Currently the system is overclocked to 4.6ghz all cores, and GPU boosts to 2025. I built this monster for 3d/2d art, CAD, 3d printing, video editing, streaming, gaming, might try some mining too, just to learn the ropes. I live streamed the build form the living room while I am remodeling the spare room into a stream studio. Once I move it into the the studio I will set up the full triple monitor lay out.

I was on console for the longest time and I was finally convinced to get a PC by my friends (they were all on PC and I was the only one on PS4). So August of 2020 I bought my first PC a Cyberpower Pre-Built. It was super basic a Ryzen 3600 and 2060 Super but it got the job done for me and I was hooked. Fast forward to 2021 I moved back to Texas and sold my house in Nevada and made a good chunk of my money so.....I decided to build my dream PC! I started with the basics (case, AIO, Ram) but then I thought "I can afford it....why not build the most expensive, over the top, build I can......" So the hunt began.....I spent weeks refreshing best buy, newegg, microcenter, etc trying to find an RTX 3090 and a Ryzen 5900x or 5950x. Slowly but surely I was finding the parts I wanted. I needed fans so I looked for the most expensive fans I could find at the time they were Lian Li Unifans. My ram went from a 16gb 3200 kit to a 64gb 3600mhz Corsair kit. I looked at my current monitor, a spectre 1080p 24.5in 165hz budget monitor and I upgraded that to a ROG 27in 2560x1440p 175hz monitor to do this build justice. I was excited BUT when the time came to build it I was having a panic attack because I had never built a PC before and I didn't want to break anything. I played Bitwits "how to build a PC" video on my TV and I had that sucker on a loop. I was rewinding, fast forwarding, and watching everything he did with a fine tooth comb to make sure I didn't mess up. Total build time.....I spent a solid 8hrs building this PC. But turning it on for the first time and seeing her come alive was one of the best feelings I had ever had. 10/10 would do it again. I'm now at a point where I want to build a streaming PC just for fun, it's an addiction and I'm glad I went through it.

I built this rig for the primary purpose of 4K gaming, VR gaming, and learning overclocking. I built my first computer in 2007 in high school and since have dreamed of building another over the years. Being in school and while working my way up left me barely enough time to sleep and no money to eat. I now finally have the ability to work from home and I wanted to celebrate with a gaming pc. My brothers and best friends are big into gaming and I can finally join them! In process of building this pc I helped both of my brothers and two of my friends build their gaming pc, all with parts from microcenter at St. David’s! We can finally game together, these computers have brought us all together enduring the crazy year. About the build: Since I am a old counsel gamer I wanted my rig to be in my living room. So I paired the system with a 120hz 75” Samsung 4K 8 series tv and a bowers and Wilkins panaorama 2 sound bar. Specs: CPU: Ryzen 5600x GPU: Strix 3090 OC RAM: trident z neo 32gb 3600cl16 Storage: 1tb xpg pcie 4.0 nvme, seagate 3tb hdd PSU: Corsair AX1200 MOBO: Asus TUF x570 plus WiFi Cooling: NZXT x73 Kraken push/pull configuration Case: NZXT H710i black, custom silver cable cover

I wanted to create my first hard line tubing build, and wanted to try to make rgb look good. So I went with a minimalist color palette to let the rgb shine, among the black, nickel, and clear components. I also wanted to try a vertical gpu mount, which lead me down the path of creating 3d printed parts as the stuck mount was unappealing to me. I also have included my fiber 10gbit nic behind the gpu, another factor that influenced my vertical bracket design. Lian Li provides the 3d model for my case freely, which made the prototyping phase much faster. In hindsight I wish I had incorporated a modification to the top cover plate to allow greater airflow, the system can get quite toasty with a few games like Cyberpunk. I work from home and game on the same pc, so I don't have any channel or such to promote. Since I am limited to a few photos here without context, I would like to share the forum link where I have my full build log you can check out for additional photos https://hardforum.com/threads/project-black-glass.2015333/

I built this rig for gaming and WFH use that will last me a long time. I took the Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL which is one of the best cases on the market and gave it a ROG theme, as I absolutely love the aesthetics and performance of ROG products. I am absolutely in love with the result! It turned out just like I imagined it would and I am very happy. I will be mainly playing Halo Infinite, Rainbow Six Siege, Valorant, Escape from Tarkov, and any AAA games releasing in the near future with this build.

For Work: Lightroom Photoshop Premier Pro After Effects Blender Handbrake For Play: DCS World MSFS 2020 Cyberpunk 2077 Baldurs Gate This thing is a beast and blow my old intel setup away. I need to get a better GPU support. The dowel rod is a little out of place. I am trying to come up with something to print, but I haven’t found anything yet. I may look to upgrade the cooling system in the future. It works pretty well but I think there is room for improvement. Gaming it hits low 60’s and under heavy load in video work it will get into the low 70’s. I am considering getting 2 more fan control and rgb boards. It works fine on my current set up but I can clean up the wiring in the back a lot more if I didn’t have all of it going to a single point.
