This is a gaming PC I built for a friend that I ended up keeping as a side rig mainly when friends visit or for other family members to do office work. I tried to obtain parts as cheaply as possible and took advantage of Microcenter's great open box deals. Got really lucky that I had upgraded my GPU before the pandemic situation.$741.95 -

I have always wanted to make a themed build around star wars! This is my first custom build and I am pretty satisfied with it. It has a ryzen 1700x, 32GB of GDDR4 2666, RTX 2070 super, asus crosshair vi hero, and all RGB is Corsair. I play all different types of games as of right now I am on that apex grind. This story goes back to 2019 when I had a constantly revolving wish list of parts for most of the year as my PC at the time was a budget build from 2014 with a GTX 650 and i3 3rd gen. Gaming wasnt horrible as long as i played on medium to low settings or alternatively played on lower resolutions. Eventually I got tired of it and after graduating college and working a year or two I decided it was time to upgrade. Febuary 2nd 2020, I decide to pull the trigger and made an afternoon trip to MicroCenter and came back with this $1000 build and assembled it before dinner. I added an M.2 SSD as well from amazon to the build. This computer is easily 10 times better than the former one. Across multiple seasonal Steam sales i had bought the Borderlands series, the Bioshock series, the Witcher series, Dishonored 1 and 2, and the Darksouls series but never got to enjoy lag free gaming experience... until now! This gaming build coupled with a 144hz Freesync monitor has changed everything to say the least. I did my best to OC as much as I could but I was unable to get past 3200mhz ram speed on my 3666mhz DIMMs and a CPU clock of 4ghz. If i had more budget i would have gone with 4 channel ram setup and a AIO cooler to avoid the heating up my room so much. Regardless, now I can finally play Minecraft with fancy graphics in peace once and for all.$977.93 -

I built this pc to get into video editing, music creation, heavy gaming and streaming. I dont have any channels yet but im working on it. I got the idea to make a pc after watching bitwit and austin evans make custom pcs inside microcenter and when i found out i live only 1 hour away from microcenter i started planning my build, obssessively checking if motherboards were in stock (the board i was looking for kept getting reserved and sold out). Then one day i see they got a shipment and so i put the items in the cart and reserve them. I only reserved the motherboard and cpu because i was afraid they would sell out. So i planned a small trip with my gf to this store an hour away. At first i was just going to leave with the parts i reserved but walking into the store i saw an opportunity to grab almost everything (excluding graphics card more on that later) for a lot cheaper than i would get in other places and instantly instead of waiting on shipping. Luckily my brother upgraded his computer a couple years back so we had an extra graphics card laying around collecting dust so i decided to wait on the gc, insert the old asus r9 380 and keep looking at microcenter for a good time to upgrade. And thats what i would use this money for. I was looking at getting a rtx 2070 super but with the money i would be saving i can shoot for a 2080 ti! Thanks for reading -Billy Juarez Proud owner of a new pc :) -edit added powersupply to complete build isnt exact model but specs are the same added graphics card i would like to buy (to see full price of build)$1,107.92 -

Hi all, I built this rig as an upgrade from my classic i5 4690k and GTX 970 starter build and the experience has been a lot of fun. It started off as a GPU upgrade for my old build, but after some pretty bad CPU bottlenecking in Forza Horizon 4, Warzone, and Red Dead 2, I went ahead and overhauled the rest of the system. I hadn't actually planned to do a water cooled build, but I picked up the cooler master AIO second hand for $50 and then after some abysmal GPU temps under load (~85C) I decided to look into water cooling the GPU. I was able to get the Kraken G12 bracket from Microcenter for only $20 and then I snagged an EVGA CLC 120mm AIO from their B-Stock page for a whopping $30. From there I began my first custom mod of mounting the water cooler to my EVGA RTX 2070. Allegedly the Kraken G12 is incompatible with the 2070, but to my pleasant surprise the AMD mounting arms worked perfectly and I didn't even have to cut or drill anything. Now I'm able to get a solid 2070MHz clock speed and my temps cap out at 55C. Ideally I'd like to get a 240mm or 280mm AIO to put on the GPU to try and push the temp lower core clock higher, but there's no room in my current case. I did splurge a little bit in some places, like the motherboard (could've got a B450 Tomahawk instead) and sleeved cables, but they only set me back about $75 so I'd say its worth it. Otherwise every component of this build was either purchased at a significant discount or in used condition to save money. All together I was able to assemble this build for right around $1000 which I'm pretty happy with :) In hindsight I wish I'd spend a little bit more on the GPU and gone for a refurb 1080ti or maybe a 2080, but the 2070 sets me up for a good 1440p 144Hz experience. In the future I really want to change the case to an O11 Dynamic and install a larger radiator for the GPU, but for now my little waterbox is all I need.$1,177.76 -

It was a great learning experience. I mainly play multiplayer FPS games like RB6 Seige and Warzone. At 1080p high settings system performed very well. Cooling was the only thing I was concerned about. However beefy air coolers these days get the job done. First case I picked up had few broken components including case. So, replaced it with a new case. If you are first time builder please make sure that the Power Supply and Air Cooler are compatible with the case that your are choosing and if you are skeptical and have more space; you can always pick up larger case just to be on the safe side. The old computer that I used mainly for gaming decided to break on me so in order to get replacement parts I would've had to wait 2 weeks for Amazon to restock. I checked the Microcenter website and realized they had everything in stock and even had some better prices. The nearest Microcenter to me was four hours away at the Marietta location in Atlanta (btw we need a Microcenter in Nashville, thanks). I figured a day trip was better than having to wait on Amazon. Since my old pc was lacking a little anyway I decided to get a big upgrade, Ryzen 3700x with an RTX 2070 Super, by far the most I've spent on a PC upgrade. I decided to go all out and try for some nice RGB, in hindsight I wish I mounted the RGB fans at the top instead of the front as I didn't realize the Lian Li LanCool 2 already had RGB on the front. This case was a dream to build in by the way and made cable management very easy. While my adventure to the great Mecca that is Microcenter was long, it was indeed worth every hour on the road. Huge shoutout to my dad for dropping everything to go with me, made for a fun trip.$1,317.93 -

The Noctua NH-D15 is damn near silent, and the triple-fan 2070 Super runs most games very quietly. RGB wasn't much of a concern (it sits below my desk) but the built-in lights on the motherboard and Maingear case logo are nice! Mostly am using it for Call of Duty Warzone right now (runs it with ray-tracing on at 144 fps, and never goes above 60 C, if that) Most of the parts came from Micro Center, but I got some really good discounts for the motherboard and GPU on Amazon Warehouse deals and Newegg's eBay page$1,344.93 -

I played on a gaming laptop for awhile but it was time to build something for myself and call it my own. I built it to be able to play with my friends who also built their own PCs. Also there was quite the incentive when I realized the greater performance you get on a PC when compared to a console, especially when playing cross-platform games. I play Call of Duty, Rainbow Six Siege, Overwatch, and Destiny 2 mainly. It definitely was a fun time putting it all together with the help of my roommates. I can definitely tell the difference from my Xbox One and my gaming laptop (which had a 1660ti in it). It runs very smooth and boots up super quick with the M.2 drive. At first I was a tad hesitant to get an AMD card because Nvidia is the top dog but so far, I've had no regrets as it has proven itself worthy for giving my the frames I want in games.$1,457.87 -

I'm not a big fan of RGB and because I can never do thing the easy way, I decided to do a custom case mod. So I built a Honduran mohogany desk that also acts as the case for the pc. Honduran Mahogany is the most stable wood you can use for furniture from an expansion and stability standpoint. Currently as it stands now, I haven’t oiled it yet, which will come when soon. It’s only version one and because I’m obsessive, I’m going to likely be working on another very soon to make it even better. I’ve got through 4 desks in the past 2 years and after the first 3 just decided I had to do it myself. I also host an Apache web server on Ubuntu server on a separate machine, so v2 of this desk will a dual or triple motherboard configuration, much cleaner, and water cooled so I can allow for much lower clearance configurations. It took me many many hours of work and many late nights because my shop is 2 hours away so I have to maximize the time I spend there! I actually built this gaming rig back in 2012 as my first gaming PC; however the case was released in 2008. I bought an intel core i5 3570k with an asus P8V-LX Z-77 motherboard. I had 8GB (4x2) of corsair ddr3 1600 and a radeon hd 6850. I got a laptop later down the road which replaced the rig. The rig was left in the basement for years to come. Years later (2020), I searched the basement and found the old rig covered in cob web and dust. This was a great project to begin working on during quarantine. It took a while to remove all of the old parts and customize the case to my liking. I had to use a dremel to saw off a piece of the drive bay area, so that I can fit a 11+ inch GPU. I mainly use this as a everthing to do and game computer. I love to game on league of legends, Grand Theft Auto 5, Dying Light, other story games: A Plague Tale Innocence, Far Cry, Rise of the Tomb Raider, The Witcher 3 and more. The goal was to hit 120+ FPS on high/ultra @ 1080p and this build proved more!$1,488.89 -

And truthfully, I've never ever built one completely from scratch. I've tinkered and upgraded, but never a full on build. I built this computer to play RTX games like Control, other third person action games, FPS games of all kinds, and those "walking simulators" like Firewatch and What Remains of Edith Finch. I LOVE a great game story. I mostly play PC games like Destiny 2 and Deliver us the Moon... as well as fun VR games like Half-Life: Alyx & Beat Saber. I also love to stream with my family with games like Davigo VR, Fall Guys, Minecraft, Overwatch, Fortnite, Splitgate, Among Us, and others! Our Twitch channel is BurtonFamGaming. This rig is a gaming, VR, streaming PC... mostly for me (Dad), but also for the whole family (only... with Dad's permission of course. Only I have the password) :-D If I could go back, I might have waited a few months so I could purchase a 3080... but oh well. :-) I researched this for most of quarantine before finally building it about 4 weeks ago... so frankly, there's not much I would change about how I built it. The ONLY thing I wish I had done was perhaps get an X570 board or the ROG Strix B550-E so I'd get that Gen 2 Type C front header. I also plan to upgrade to 32 gigs of ram before long... but besides that, I'm really happy with it!$1,494.91 -

I sold my last system (Mad Hatter) the week the Ryzen 3000 series came out. But I didn't have a case to put the new cpu and mobo into. So I made my own makeshift 'test bench-esque' case with random things I happened to have. A few months later, a buddy of mine was finishing up some home projects and I asked him to make me a T frame with any left over wood he had. Fast forward 9 months later, and I finally got the chance to start this project. CPU/MOBO/RAM - Purchased from Microcenter 7/7/19. SSD/HDD - My previous configuration had too many drives. So I got the NVME ssd for the essentials and two 2tb hdds, one for games the other for recordings. GPU - A reason to give my old GTX 1080 to my g/f. CPU Cooler - I knew I wanted to go back to air with this build. I didn't realize this cooler was... this big. CASE - Extra wood a buddy had left over after making a shelf. Extras - Acrylics and Acrylic bender from Performance-PCS. I originally planned this to also have a handle. I purchased the MNPC Tech cnc handles. But as I was building, I realized how heavy this would be. So I'll save those for the next/smaller build. **June Update** Replaced the acrylic panel below the gpu with a wider version. The gpu now looks sad at night. I wanted to upgrade my pc and since everything on my previous pc was outdated I decided to give that to my dad. I then built a new one centered around my current RTX 2070 with the goals of high end gaming and streaming on the side. In hindsight I should’ve just upgraded my 2070 because the level I play games at in terms of settings makes it difficult to actually stream some games because my GPU is running at 100% load.$1,609.94 -

I have plans to vertical mount the GPU, upgrade my RAM to 32GB @ 3600Mhz, add custom PSU cables, and upgrade my 240mm AIO to a 280MM AIO. So far, the main use of this machine is folding@home, relatively light gaming (if you can call NFS Heat on Ultra details @ 1080P light....) and media consumption.$1,609.94 -

My old laptop was dying so decided to build a PC to kill time in the middle of this Covid. I first built a budget system under $800 for some light CAD, youtube, 4K playback, coding and web browsing. But after 2 weeks. I felt this strong urge to "upgrade" because who doesn't want to be a PC master race, right, right (please say yes so I don't feel bad about my decision)? Anyways, my brain said "no" but my hands took out the credit card and now I am here posting this. I am starting to think that this rig might be too big, and looking at some ITX builds now. I should let my wife keep the credit card because that "urge to upgrade" is hitting me again.$1,613.94 -

I've been piecing this build together a bit at a time for the last six months. I mainly kept an eye out for components that would be a significant upgrade over my 11900K / 3070 Ti desktop build. Shoutout to the employees at my local microcenter who take time to hunt down the random clearance items I order. Everything but the AIO cooler and the ssd storage devices were bought at microcenter. Currently on the 13700k, I have all P cores overclocked to 5.8 with all E cores at 4.4 with vcore set to 1.35 and medium LLC. My ddr5 is modestly overclocked from 6000 to 6400 for the time being. I need to re-learn how to overclock ram because a lot of bios settings have become more complex since ddr3-ddr4 days. From what I understand, Hynix A die modules should be able to overclock significantly higher frequencies - I just need to learn how to pull that off.$1,624.25 -

Never really was into PC gaming, but decided I would give it a try. Definitely wanted to build my own instead of opting for a pre-build. After building and rebuilding it 8 times my first night, it worked and has been flawless ever since. I built it for a variety of reasons - game, stream, edit. I've been playing COD, Halo, The Last of Us, Old School Runescape, and GTA V so far. Haven't streamed any games yet, but have started an amateur movie podcast with some buddies. We've streamed the podcast live on Twitch a few times, and it has been a blast. The PC handles everything and runs very smooth.$1,631.87 -

It was overdue to upgrade from a HP Pavilion and old laptop and wanted to experience building a stronger PC than the prebuilt ones. It's built for production work and Monster Hunter World. Future upgrades may include an aftermarket CPU air cooler, custom sleeved cables and Lian Li SL120 Uni fans for a cleaner look and cable management. Throughout the process, I have considered a blackout build; however, RGB is a bit addicting to look at and due to availability issues for certain parts. To compromise, I opted to have only my cooling parts to have RGB hoping for a somehow minimalist or dual toned look.$1,759.86 -

It is used daily for everything, including three monitors. Two of these are used for gaming: One 34" ultrawide monitor that runs 3440x1440 at 100hz, and then alternately a 55" TCL 55R646 tv than I use for a console like experience (wireless controller, steam big picture mode) at 4k,120hz. I primarily play RPG / JRPG, action, adventure games. Up next for me is to play the recently updated current-gen version of The Witcher III at 120fps. The name of this build was drawn from the predominantly graphite & silver scheme on many of the components. I just rolled with this color scheme after finding multiple clearance deals at Microcenter that I considered too good to pass up. The graphics card, motherboard, ddr5 ram, and most of the ssd storage were all taken from Microcenter clearance. The biggest problem I ran into was also directly related to this. Specifically, the clearance / open box RTX 3090 Ti ended up being a bare card only and was missing the required 3-pronged power adapter that plugs directly into the card. Thankfully, I was able to contact MSI and I can recommend their customer support. Since the card was still unregistered and under warranty, MSI sent me the power cable I needed at no further cost to me.$1,775.77 -

Didn't want to go crazy without the confidence that it would work the first time I assembled it. Ben at Madison Heights was easy to work with to secure all the parts. Build took 3 hours from start to getting Windows to load in. Install went without a hitch and everything seems to be working perfectly. The GPU was a good compromise from what I wanted (2080 Ti) to what made sense. I'd recommend the EVGA 2070 Super to anyone that is on a budget. I went simple on the case, it was easy to work in and cord management was good. The temps on everything is great as well.$1,851.89 -

For general usage, some gaming. I wish I had more games to play but most modern games are either absolute trash that isn't worth playing or indies that are worth playing but don't require much in the terms of power. The 3900XT I got on sale after the 5000 series came out, works well, cooled by a Noctua NH D15. Should I have waited to get a 5950X? Maybe, but I don't need that much. 32GB of ram, surprisngly I regularly use around 24GB of it so I'm glad I went over the 16GB I usually default to. The motherboard is alright, it works. The 5700XT has to be the centerpiece, I replaced the original cooler with a Raijintek Morpheus II and two Noctua fans. Never goes below 55c even during full load and is always silent. A much better experience compared to when the fan bearings were worn to the point of buzzing from casual mining for a few years. Despite the drama surrounding crypto this 5700XT has heated my room during the winter and put food onto the table for the past two years. Can't complain about that. The PSU I'm glad I went a little overkill initially. When I got this I had a Ryzen 5 1400 and an RX560, something that could probably be powered by a 450W unit. However now it's still got plenty of extra for further upgrades. The case is a Corsair 275Q. It's not very quiet and difficult to work in. I would have rather bought a quality test bench with this money. I need lots of hard drive space.$1,860.89 -

I like to play MMO RPG's, FPS, Adventure/Action type games. I am a professional software engineer and also do some coding on the side for personal projects and IOT automation around my house.
