Maximize Your Micro Center Experience: Insider Tips for Shoppers
Whether it’s your first time at a Micro Center or you’re a seasoned vet, here’s how to make your trip a success.News
Micro Center is opening its newest location in Miami, bringing an extensive selection of tech products to South Florida. For many local tech enthusiasts, this will be their first opportunity to experience a Micro Center store in person. And whether you're a first-time visitor or a long-time customer, the vast array of components, devices, and accessories can be overwhelming.
We spoke to some of our favorite Micro Center associates to gather their insights and tips for making the most of your Micro Center trip, in Miami or any of our 28 locations.
Take it slow
"Before you even start shopping, take a slow walk through the store. Micro Center stores are jam-packed with tech and tech accessories. There’s a lot to see and it can be easy to miss some of the cool products we carry if you’re just bee-lining to the aisle you’re looking for. For example, did you know we carry Legos, model rockets, and smart watches?"

"I recommend checking out a section you aren’t familiar with. You never know what you might find when you go off the beaten path. I decided to check out a corner of the store I don’t usually visit and found a ton of board games I hadn’t seen before. You never know what you’re going to find when you start exploring.".

Talk to the associates
"We're there to help. Whether you know exactly what you want or need some assistance, we can speed up your shopping trip and ensure everything you’re getting will work for what you need it for. We’re super happy to help, and love helping customers figure everything out for whatever they need. We’re also happy to just chat about your build or the latest tech."

"The biggest tip I can give to anyone stopping in for the first time is to speak to the associates. If one of us is free, don’t hesitate to walk up and ask us any questions you have. As a customer-turned-employee, my absolute favorite thing about Micro Center is that every staff member—from salesperson to technician—genuinely enjoys helping people. On days where we aren’t super packed, I personally enjoy giving people who are first-time visitors quick tours of the different departments and introducing them to my colleagues. I also enjoy pointing out my personal favorite products or the many things I’ve purchased while working here."
Plan ahead
"Whether you’re building a PC or revamping your home network, you should have a plan prepared for your trip to Micro Center, plus a backup plan, just in case the first one goes awry. Maybe you spoke to an associate and discovered that there’s a hiccup in your idea for rewiring your computer or the motherboard you wanted doesn’t quite fit in the case. Our associates will, of course, be happy to help you figure out a solution, but it doesn’t hurt to have a backup.
To start planning out your trip, make a shopping list. It may seem obvious, but it’s easy to get distracted and forget something if you’re exploring every aisle. This will also make it easier for associates to help you, as they’ll be able to quickly and easily find the product you’re looking for. Be sure to include a backup list or two, just in case.
Be prepared for the list to grow, as well. If you’re planning on building a new PC, you might realize you need accessories as well, like a new keyboard or a replacement for the TV you’ve been using as a monitor. You just never know what you might find on a Micro Center trip."

Check for sales
"There are always so many sales happening at Micro Center. In the Build Your Own section, you can bundle and save when you pick up select motherboard, RAM, and processor combos. The Systems department always has great deals on laptops and desktops, whether you’re looking for something to game on or work on. And if you’re looking to get into 3D printing, there’s always at least a few models on sale."
