We'll collect your information and the details of the items you want to recycle. If you’re recycling a computer or hard drive, consider if data backup, transfer, or destruction is needed. Your items are then placed in our dedicated recycling area and sent to a sustainable electronic recycler.

We’ll gather your information, provide a tax receipt via email, and mark your device for donation. The refurbished units are sent to our charity partners to support those in need. For tax-related questions, please consult your CPA.

Terms & Conditions

Micro Center and Compudopt provide this recycling service (the “Service”) at no cost to you (“You”). To the extent permitted by applicable law, Micro Center and Compudopt hereby disclaim and exclude any and all warranties of any kind, express or implied, related to the Service.

Micro Center is merely acting as a collection agent for Compudopt and you are providing your products for recycling to Compudopt. You may be able to deduct the value of your recycled product on your tax return, but Micro Center makes no representations or warranties about, and shall not be responsible for, your ability or inability to take such a deduction on your tax return.

You represent and warrant that You have the lawful right to allow Micro Center and Compudopt to perform the Service. You represent that You are providing to Micro Center and Compudopt only products that are owned by You or others in your household and were used exclusively or primarily for personal purposes. If you bring in products owned by others in your household, You have been authorized by such owner to bring in such products.

Once you bring in products to a Micro Center store for the Service, you transfer title to such products to Compudopt and disclaim any further right, title, or interest in and to the products or any data contained therein. You agree that you have the sole responsibility to keep a separate back up copy of any files or data before bringing the products into a Micro Center store and transferring ownership of the products to Compudopt. Data recovery is not a part of the Service and Micro Center and Compudopt accept no responsibility for any lost files or data. You agree that all data is erased from hard drives contained in the products before bringing them into a Micro Center store. Data transfer and erasure services are available by appointment at a Micro Center store and are not part of the Service.

Any products given to Micro Center and Compudopt as part of the Service must not violate any applicable laws, including export laws, and You represent and warrant that You have and will comply with any and all such laws. You represent and warrant that any products You provide to Micro Center and Compudopt as part of this Service shall not: (1) infringe on any third-party intellectual property right (including copyright, trademark, patent, trade secrets or other proprietary right) or (2) be counterfeit, stolen, or fraudulent.

The Service is provided for lawful purposes only, and You agree to indemnify Micro Center and Compudopt and any of their respective directors, officers, employees, affiliates, subsidiaries, or agents from and against any claims brought against any of them arising from performing this Service on your behalf or for any breach of these terms and conditions by You. Micro Center and Compudopt and their respective affiliates, employees, and agents will under no circumstances be liable for any special, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from this Service. To the extent permitted by applicable law, Micro Center’s and Compudopt’s entire liability, if any, from any cause whatsoever with respect to this Service shall not exceed $50. Micro Center reserves the right to change these terms and conditions or to cancel this Service at any time without notice.

Customers should back up all valuable information and ensure that sensitive data is erased from hard drives before they are dropped off. Data transfer and erasure services are available by appointment at your local Micro Center and are not covered by donation or recycling services.
