I have a gaming rig primarily used for playing FPS games like COD Modern Warfare, Resident Evil 3 remake, and GTA 5. However, on a day-to-day basis, I find myself using it more for web browsing, video watching, and occasional video editing. I built this PC as a fun challenge and a great learning experience. I initially built this rig in March of 2019 for personal use and entertainment. I use it for work, gaming, and personal stuff. I built it because my previous rig catastrophically failed for the last time so I decided to start anew. I don't really worry about storage as I'm usually connected to my home NAS. For gaming, I play a pretty large variety of games from Starcraft 2, to VR games, to sim games such as Elite Dangerous or Forza. I really want to make my own custom cables one day to make the cabling look pretty. I hope to keep using this case as well or another similar mITX console style case for my next build!$2,334.07 -

A third purpose was to build a Desktop powerful enough to indulge in other things such as 3D modelling/rendering or photo and video editing. I have spent hours at this build playing AAA titles like; The Witcher 3, DOOM, Ghostwire Tokyo, Kena Bridge of Spirits, Assassins Creed Odyssey and too many others to remember at the top of my head. Spent countless more hours on e-sports titles like League Of Legends, Fortnite, Apex Legends, Overwatch, Call of Duty Warzone and whatever else interests me in this category. This build was designed for a friend primarily for lower-end gaming titles, as well as some recording and streaming (mostly to Discord, not Twitch or anything that warrants a fairly high bitrate). Most of this build's use has been games such as Minecraft and Valorant, and the generally fast speed of the overall build has come in handy with general productivity as well. The aesthetics of the build were not taken into high regard as this was made as a budget build; though aftermarket cables and fans were used to achieve a bit of flair. Most of the parts were chosen because of their availability or price, and thus half the parts were either used or open box. Still, the computer is fairly powerful and is able to run modern higher-end titles at a decent rate.$1,002.89 -

I built this early to mid 2020, but I am submitting this now to get a 25 off for my next build at microcenter! (I plan on making a portable mini-itx ryzen 5000 pc next). I tried to make a really practical PC for everyday use and for FL Studio music production, and some gaming as well. I got pretty much everything from Micro Center, except for the case and the cpu cooler. I also got a thunderbolt pcie card to add some more ports and to future proof me in terms of connectivity. (Some of these prices have changed, and I used some old parts and coupons/gift cards here and there. The final price was maybe 3 or 4 hundred less). This has an intel 9900k processor that I got after 10th gen came out, so I got a good deal. It also has a gigabyte 3070 gpu to match the board, and a western digital black 1tb for the boot drive. Later on, I also got a 4tb hdd to add some storage. I also got 2X 16gb 3200 of g. skill RGB ram, and I don't think I will be adding more anytime soon. The built in bluetooth and wifi on my aorus z390 board is great. All my BIOS are on the latest version, and I am on the latest build of windows 10 (I have no desire to ever go to windows 11, honestly). The system has been rock solid stable overall, except for some blue screens caused by Epson printer software.$2,129.94 -

The thermals were awful and the PSU / MB were non-standard, so I transferred the CPU, GPU, RAM and drives to a new case with a new MB and PSU. As parts were on sale (or available) I swapped out a bit at a time. Grabbed an i9 9900k when Microcenter clearanced them (and an Arctic AIO w/ VRM cooling). Needed overclocked RAM then, so picked up 32gb of Ballistix 3600 DDR4. Swapped out the 256gb NVME w/ a 1tb WD SN750 and added four 1tb SATA HDDs I had lying around into a RAID10 array for anything that didn't need SSD speeds. Finally managed to get a Gigabyte Waterforce Extreme RTX 3080 w/ AIO, which also required a PSU upgrade. Now the HP is back together for my kids to use!$2,277.90 -

When I moved from west coast to east in 2019, I sold my previous PC (4790K, but I kept GTX 970 alone). Then I need a new one to play Dota 2 and do PS on my personal photos (some subscription on Instagram). I decided to build with the latest CPU at that time. I bought all the parts (9900k + RTX 2070 + 970 pro) in Micro Center in mid 2019 and built the current one. After I assembled them, I regret only bought 16GB(2*8) memory. So I bought another set of 32GB(2*16) and added them to the PC. So it is wired that I got 48GB memory, With the 2070 and 970, I got good performance. I built this PC myself 8 years ago, though I've obviously upgraded it a few times since then. Never quite got the hang of perfect cable management, so it doesn't look super fancy or anything, but it definitely does the job. I actually built it because I didn't want to buy the new Xbox One at the time and I wanted to look at a cheaper option with a smaller budget, which turned out to be PC gaming. Since then, I've splurged whenever I could afford to, and though it's no longer the cheapest option like I originally planned, I do get a powerful system that looks so fantastic in action! My PC is for mostly gaming. I play just about anything that catches my eye, from lesser known games like Duck Game and Temtem, to AAA games like Cyberpunk 2077 and GTA V. My favorites though, have to be Detroit: Become Human, Payday 2, Borderlands 2, and Beat Saber (I have the original Vive for anyone curious!). I also draw, write papers, and did all my work on it in college, so it doubles for general purpose. I think I'm done upgrading for a few years, as I just got my GPU and new PSU this past year, but my next will definitely have to include the CPU/MOBO/RAM. In case anyone is wondering, I still am entering the competition despite not needing an upgrade myself, because I'm getting my boyfriend into PC gaming now! I'm surprising him with a 3060 Ti that I was able to grab next week, but we still need everything else eventually. :') As for anything I'd do differently, I guess work on my cable management and how neat it looks inside with the lighting, but I can always fix that next time I do anything with it, I guess. :)$3,357.92 -

My dad is a software engineer and it was really cool to show him the ways of hardware 2 years ago. I've slowly been upgrading it over the years. My main goal in the last 6 months was to add as much rgb as physically possible into this thing. I've upgraded the following: 8700k to 9700k after about a year z390 Tuf mobo to z390 aurous pro wifi for two reasons: more rgb and better io Originally i had 16gbs of 3200mhz and upgraded it to 16gbs of 3200mhz BUT with rgb. its also oc to 4000mhz (idk how but it is and im not complaining) and last but not least the case. I've loved nzxt cases due to how clean they are so i upgraded the h500i to the h510 elite and I haven't looked back since! In the future im looking to upgrade my 2070 to a 3070ti or a 3080 whenever the world goes back to normal. and also custom cables are in the works just don't quite have the money for that yet. #Bitwit$1,778.92 -

Gaming rig playing CyberPunk 2077, GTA V, Forza Motorsport Horizon 4, and others. Its my first RGB fan case as I was late to that party. Wasn't intentional but this ended up being a Corsair dominant build! Corsair case, AIO, fans, Commander Pro controller, lighting node core, even the keyboard and mouse! LOVE the way it turned out. Very proud with how the wire management turned out as its not easy to hide with this case.$2,280.92 -

With Covid I was spending a lot of time on my PC between working from home, online classes and gaming. The new 30 series GPU’s really motivated me to make my dream build in my limited edition PCMR 011D case. Grateful to live near such a great store like micro center which helped make it all possible. Micro center is by far one of my most favorite places to shop!$1,893.95 -

I love building custom computers when I decided to take on this project. Back when the Iron Man movies came out I was thinking about how I would come up with a plan on how I would build this. Well after a ton of brain storming and a couple failed ideas I had a solid plan. This build took about 80 hours (Custom Priming / Painting and metal work)$1,704.92 -

I wanted to create a subtle yet attractive build that catches the observer's attention while not having the in-your-face "gamer aesthetics." The only RGB in my build is on the RAM, which is just the right amount for my design philosophy. The one thing lacking and bottlenecking my build, as I recently installed an Intel i9-9900k, is the GPU. I am still rocking a GTX 970 from my first build in 2016. It is hooked up to two 1440p 144Hz monitors. It has served me well throughout the years; however, even with an aggressive overclock, it is evident that an upgrade is far overdue. I am currently waiting to upgrade to an RTX 3070 as soon as they become available again. I enjoy playing games such as Call of Duty, NBA 2k, Detroit: Become Human, Forza and look forward to playing Cyberpunk 2077.$1,342.49
