This is the full components list for the PC Linus assembled in our Denver, Colorado store for his video about the new AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990x processor. In his video, Linus was tasked with assembling the following components to create an extremely powerful $10,000 workstation PC. The AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3990x just launched yesterday on February 7, 2020. This processor has 64 cores, 128 threads, and 256mb cache. Linus made some alterations to the build on day of filming in order to water-cool the GPUs. He had a time crunch, but he got it done, and we really love the finished product!$10,808.41 -

I hadn't known what Cyberpunk or what the cyber/futuristic aesthetic was until spring of this year. Pre-covid I had dabbled in the music that is vaporwave, cyberwave, futuristic club, etc. However, I had not known about Cyberpunk 2077's existence really until I had started seeing memes of Keanu Reeves on Instagram. That is when I looked into it, it was around late 2019 or early this year. I began watching trailers, gameplay previews, and other lore-related videos hyping up the game on YouTube. Honestly I had never become so interested and passionate about a game release until now. After looking into it, I knew this game was it, and I quickly handed over my money to CD Projekt Red, as I had also found out that they had been the genius masterminds behind Witcher 3, another one of my favorite games. I grew so heavily invested into the game, that I set out to create the ultimate machine that would embody the whole concept of futuristic cyberpunk and harness it within one god-like gaming/streaming rig. I knew that I, one day, would also try to get into streaming, so I thought why not create a powerful yet pretty rig capable of pretty much anything involving multi-threaded processes, whether it be video streaming, homework, gaming, or even work-from-home. Shortly, after getting placed on furlough, I set out to do all of my research, and this happened. A process of 5 months + worth of hardware research, culminating until one god-tier rig that would serve me not only for this spectacular game release, but for decades to come into my later adulthood: The Cyber-Ripper. Being 20 years old, I didn't have much time or money, however I been saving for something like this, as I had always been sort of a techie. But never like this...I had become infatuated by anything tech in general, and I set out watching almost every Linus, Gamers Nexus, and JayzTwoCents video known to man. As if that wasn't already nerdy enough, I ended up spending many many pretty pennies on all sorts of different computer parts. Luckily enough for me, due to the circumstances of the current covid situation, my parts were scattered all across the world. I waited many many weeks to receive each and every part needed to make this whole build happen. After the 5-6 months of just pure research and saving alone, I swiped my card one day and begun the wait, waiting for all my hard work to come to fruition. Slowly but surely, all of my parts came in, one by one, the last part being the power supply which took a solid 3 months from the date I ordered it to come into my possession. I was nervous, sweat beaded down my forehead and arms as I built this rig in the heat of my second-story room. Mind you, I live in southern Cali, so my room gets quite hot during the day and afternoon. When it finally booted up into bios and I saw all the pretty lights lighting up, I was ecstatic and I knew my time has come. As corny as it sounded, I was fully ready to game. Now is the waiting game again, as the release for the big-hit title Cyberpunk 2077 looms ahead of us. I honestly cannot wait to overclock this thing and run everything at 4K on my beauty-of-a monitor, the Predator XB273K which is capable of 4K at 144 hz, WITH G-sync and HDR enabled. I am super excited and looking forward to the release date, where I can delve into the beautiful scenery that is Night City and experience the experience I had been waiting for. All in all, I built this computer because of Cyberpunk, and I do not regret it. All themes and looks of the build was inspired by the aesthetic presentation that Cyberpunk left on me as a first impression back when I first heard about it in 2019. I hope you all enjoy looking at it, and yes I do know the current GPU is a huge bottleneck, however I wanted to wait for the next series of RTX 3000 graphics cards until I shelled out anymore money, I hope you all understand. Now that I am off furlough and working hard, I'm gonna be looking into that brand-spanking new RTX card which hopefully will release around the time Cybperunk does. ;) Thanks for viewing and have a good one.$3,917.94 -

Before this build I had solely used intel for my cpus in my last three systems but when Ryzen came out strong I knew it would be in my next system. I mostly use this system to game at 1080p 144hz with two other 1080p 60hz monitors (3 total monitors), though I hope to get a better graphics card one day (don't we all) and go up to 1440p. This pc took a good amount of planning. I had to get custom length cables made, pick ram and aio that would fit in the case's cpu cooler clearance constraints, and find work arounds for certain roadblocks. One roadblock I had was mounting the 2.5 ssd in the case. This case can fit a 2.5 drive easily but I put an rgb strip in the section meant for the drive so I had to sandwich it in to the left of the powersupply. I originally had 2 x 1tb m.2s in the case (1 intel drive and 1 western digital drive) but I filled most of that within a year and added another 1tb externally (munskin drive) via a usb enclosure. I recently was gifted a 4tb 2.5 drive so I crammed that in the case to do all my data hoarding. To fit it I had a custom length power cable and ordered a super slim silverstone sata cable.$2,658.72 -

I primarily wanted my desktop to take up as small a space as possible and found building out of the NR200 case to be very satisfying. 7900 XT plays anything thrown at it - blew through Starfield at max settings. Highly recommend undervolting the GPU to save thermals. A less power hungry CPU would be even better to reduce heat. As much as I like the SFX-L Asus Loki PSU I chose, I recommend an SFX to gain GPU clearance. Highly advise against an ATX PSU as airflow becomes very difficult to manage. I got everything at MSRP even the RTX 3080 Ti though it was secondhand from January this year. It rekts trough every game I throw at it :)$2,297.93 -

My Corsair One i140 was a champ, but was starting to show its age on the latest titles (bought in 2018), and I wanted something that was still a small-ish form factor to replace it with. I've heard the newer generation Corsair Ones have thermal throttling issues, so I decided to build my first ITX PC ever in the Phanteks Evolv Shift XT. Its my first PC build in about 9 years. I have been an Intel/Nvidia builder/user exclusively until now, and have been looking to try out what AMD has on offer.$2,297.92 -

I'm a videographer with the State Department and have always used either an iMac or Mac Pro for editing in Premiere and AfterEffects. After experiencing a forced reboot to Mojave because of driver incompatibility with Catalina, I decided I needed more control and frankly power. So I converted to PC. Since my primary workflow is in Premiere I decided to go with the Ryzen 9 3950X paired with an RTX 2060 Super SC Ultra 8gb. Since I usually travel for work (pre-COVID) I also needed something portable. Hence choosing the Sliger SM580. At 15.8 liters it's pretty compact and easy to transport when I need my workstation mobile. MOBO is a Gigabyte B550 I AORUS PRO AX, with Team T-FORCE VULCAN Z 64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200, SAMSUNG 970 EVO M.2 2280 1TB, Sabrent 1TB Rocket NVMe 4.0 Gen4 PCIe M.2 on the back. PSU is a Seasonic FOCUS SGX-650, 650W 80+, and to keep things cool I'm using the NZXT Kraken X63. OC is 4.35 at 1.15v with XMP enabled (Mem & FCLK @1600) This is my first build and fortunately, it has been put to work as quickly as I could get it running! Looking forward to maybe trying to go smaller... ;)$2,294.91 -

Got tired of opening up my Q58 all the time to let my gpu and cpu breath, and really wanted something different. Got lucky and someone local was selling a XTIA Proto-L. Ordered some extra parts for the XTIA and went to work on 3D printing some pieces and sleeving some custom cables for the build. Made a orange set, then a purple set, and it just didn't sit well with my brand new strix 3090. So I decided to try something different and went with gunmetal paracord 425 vs the typical 550 to get some tighter sleeving. As for 3D mods, I knew I needed to add a front/side I/O since I didn't want to tilt the pc everytime I needed to plug something in, so I grabbed a cheap USB C hub from amazon and went to work tinkercading a cover/support for the side. I probably printed 5-6 different variation to finally settle with this one. I also did simple mod of creating a cover for the ugly red riser.$2,219.96 -

This was built as a replacement for my now ten year old previous build that was based around a Gigabyte Z87-D3HP, which was also built with Microcenter’s help. While that old system still runs reliably and stretched its capabilities over the years with simple upgrades over time, I felt ten years was a good time to retire it and start fresh. The new build was intended to be a much faster replacement for the old system’s usual general purpose and gaming tasks, and intended to meet or exceed the capabilities of the new game consoles on the market. My gaming habits are kind of pseudo-sim focused. I’m a big Arma fan, and despite the game’s age, Arma 3 is notorious for running poorly when connected to dedicated servers that have have a lot of custom content or assets interacting with each other on the map. The games I like often love having access to quick processor frequencies over anything else, and that heavily influenced my decision regarding going for an AM5 platform with a 7700x. For starting fresh, I really wanted to get into making a small form factor build. The idea of making a compact powerhouse of a computer that takes up around the same desk real estate of a console sounded very desirable to me. After deciding a Meshlicious case would work well for my needs, and seeing a picture of a build in one that had RGB parts casting light in a lovely glow from within the mesh, I knew I wanted to have something well lit as well. Ended up going so far as to get parts that would specifically match the aesthetic featuring smooth dark panels with white housings for the light emitting parts. One of the other lesser focused objectives of going smaller was the desire to have as few unused headers and ports as possible, as I thought it was weird to go ATX again if I only intended to use one pcie slot, two memory slots, and a couple nvme drives. The result was well worth it, but the pitfalls you usually hear about small form factor builds were definitely a challenge. The primary difficulty for the build was finding an itx motherboard that had the features I want and was from a manufacturer I trusted. Was a good bit discouraging seeing swaths of new atx and m-atx motherboards come out from my favorite manufacturers with seemingly no interest in a reasonable itx equivalent being considered by them. The other major hurtle I suppose would be working in the tight conditions of an itx case. The Meshlicious is certainly not the smallest case out there, but was small enough for my larger hands to have issues routing cables and mounting parts. Fortunately cable management didn’t end up terrible, mostly thanks to the use of m3 standoffs to space out the motherboard and gpu away from each other, granting both more immediate access to fresh air through the side panels, disallowing as much heat sharing between them, and providing space in the middle for cables to run. Speaking of cooling, that actually hasn’t been an issue despite that often being a concern for small form factor. The Meshlicious breathes well, and running exclusively positive air pressure with the aio fans, gpu cooler, and psu all pulling fresh air in seems to keep things cool throughout all the usual use I put it through and the benchmarks I ran to ensure it was working properly. Even the hot running 7700x seems to stick around 60-87C with that EK AIO 280 supplying cool liquid. Very happy with the build so far.$2,216.94 -

Build Purpose: I day trade using Thinkorswim, bookmap, and tradingview on two 1440p widescreen monitors. I also run a smaller monitor with OBS set to record the two larger ones. Thinkorswim is mostly a single core application so I wanted a processor with great single core performance. Bookmap is extremely RAM hungry so I went with 64gb to give me some headroom with everything else I'm running. I saved some money on the GPU front; bookmap does benefit from GPU acceleration but I just really needed the GPU to run 3 monitors. I've been wanting to put some of my profits to use. Building thoughts: I had to RMA my first Asrock Z790, the I/O shield was bent and a part that was screwed in had broken off the board. The 2nd one was perfect. Also, I was worried about clearing the AIO tubing around the Dominators because they're so tall, but I saw another post with the tubes routing over the RAM heatsinks and they ended up fitting well. Finally, I went with an 850W PSU just in case I want to upgrade my GPU eventually. Overall, I'm very happy with my build!$2,184.92 -

The small form factor makes it really easy to move around whenever I feel like heading to the living room to game on a bigger screen. I built this computer for gaming and 3D modeling. I mostly play RPGs, like Fallout, Cyberpunk, or Borderlands 3. While I don't always play the most demanding games, I'm also an avid 3d printer so having the extra horsepower really comes in handy when I do 3d modeling! CAD software, slicers, and simulations all run smoothly which makes the work of modeling significantly easier. As it stands, I'm not looking at any upgrades but that could easily change with the next Ryzen release.$2,078.94 -
