I built this rig for the primary purpose of 4K gaming, VR gaming, and learning overclocking. I built my first computer in 2007 in high school and since have dreamed of building another over the years. Being in school and while working my way up left me barely enough time to sleep and no money to eat. I now finally have the ability to work from home and I wanted to celebrate with a gaming pc. My brothers and best friends are big into gaming and I can finally join them! In process of building this pc I helped both of my brothers and two of my friends build their gaming pc, all with parts from microcenter at St. David’s! We can finally game together, these computers have brought us all together enduring the crazy year. About the build: Since I am a old counsel gamer I wanted my rig to be in my living room. So I paired the system with a 120hz 75” Samsung 4K 8 series tv and a bowers and Wilkins panaorama 2 sound bar. I run a small Youtube channel named Cobiestech, and with the power of this machine, I am able to produce content easily with no hiccups. I use Adobe Premier Pro to render my videos and it handles that like a dream. At first I was using lesser parts, but as my channel grew, so have the components and I have finalized my build with the recent inclusion of the Ryzen 5800x. It was the last piece missing from my man cave. I wanted a clean build but powerful at the same time. I set the build up with dual 1440p ultrawide 100hz viewsonic monitors and an extra long hdmi to my 75” Samsung tv that is connected to my surround system via arc to the marantz receiver. This setup allows me to game at my desk or kick back on the couch with a controller. I also got a oculus quest with oculus link to play beat saber and Half Life Alyx!! I chose a EVGA 2080ti FTW3 ultra Oc to power all the monitors and TVs. I have made so many trips to microcenter during the building process I have become a regular and familiar with most of the associates at the St David’s location, btw they all rock! I built this PC setup because I've never went on a Vacation in the 36 years I've worked. Never took days off besides sick days. So all the money was to treat myself. I bought a bunch of unnecessary things, in a crazy miss-matched setup. I mainly play games, but I also do work on Stable-Diffusion with AI generation. I love setting up virtual machines and trying new things. Here is a link to the actual setup in full: https://pcpartpicker.com/user/StabbyMeowkins/saved/fZBGJx Little bit behind the parts and how I got them for those prices. Anything that was normally bought at normal prices/random low-discount prices won't be mentioned. Mind the cable management, I can't be bothered and there is just too much going on in life to spend a full day getting it done. I will do it eventually, though! 5900x: Friend bought this at Microcenter, held unto it for six months and never used it. Sold it to me for $180.00. Kraken AIO: Won it at a Bingo tournament that only costed me $15 to enter! Motherboard: Bought a combo deal for $1600ish. Friend got the 3080ti, I got the motherboard, we sold the rest to basically make him upgrade from a 3070 to a 3080ti for $150, and I got the motherboard for a value of $250.00 Sold his 3070 to make up the difference. 2TB 2.5" Drive: Some random craigslist drive. Just have a bunch of emulation stuff on there. 1TB SSD: Price error at Staples, what a steal!(It was $50 odd dollars. Not sure the exact amount. QN332 2TB QLC Drive(Games!) Black Friday deal. This was added this week. Had this PC 6+ Months. Two 14TB WD Easystore Drives. Rakuten Cash-back. Discount from HDD turn in that Best Buy used to have. Cash-back from Paypal Business debt card. Lucky! Phanteks Case: Won a $100 gift card online, so got the case for very little. Monitors: I use the Alienware AW2518HF for all my FPS games like APEX Legends, League of Legends and games like Muse Dash. The AOC 49" Ultrawide is for watching videos on Youtube while I am cleaning the room, or doing server work and/or Python. I got this for $400 when a site was selling them for that price at random times. I was lucky to get one. I bought a monitor arm for it because my space constraints means a small desk..arm gives me the space I need. LG C1 48" OLED TV: Obviously all my nice games I enjoy the most go on here. I love Warframe, Dead by Daylight and a few others like Monster Hunter Rise. Minecraft with the SEUS Shader Mod is just INSANE on here too. It is so beautiful. Had to buy a good cable, that was also 15 feet long. Since the space I am in is small, I needed it to wrap around the room to get to the TV. Klipsch I picked up (almost) brand new at a Pawn Shop. They actually sound really good. I didn't want to get it at first, but a friend convinced me. Said the $75 was worth the price at the time. The nYko Charing base was given to me for free by a friend that also sold me two brand new PS4 controllers for $30 each. He had them because he tends to buy up a bunch of stuff when they go on sale/clearance-so he has had them for a while and sold to me when I was looking for some controllers for some of my games. The SATA Port hub isn't really needed. I just had it laying around so I threw it in the build. Won't be able to resell it, might as well use it, even though its borderline useless. Same with the Docking bay. It is just there to throw random data on random old drives I have for storage. Sorry for all the babbling. I just love my PC, it looks nice, and its something I can enjoy since I don't get to enjoy things too much. I love Anime, and the OLED is really nice for that, and I just love tech in general. My Mother and Father don't understand it much but turning their homes into automation has been fun also.$4,698.56 -

I had been using a 2012 iMac and wanted to build a PC for gaming, Blender, streaming, and photo and video editing. This was my first PC and first custom water loop. Love how it has come out! There is one last part that still needs to be completed… The clear tube is a place holder for a future hardline that matches the others. An eye for details will recognize the Apple M1 Mac Mini. The Chimera is a powerhouse machine designed to be both an aesthetic statement as well as fully functional for streaming... The Chimera is a powerhouse machine designed to be both an aesthetic statement as well as fully functional for streaming whatever games I want to stream. It was given the name Chimera as a suggestion from a viewer that was watching me upgrade the cooling loop on Twitch. The original name of this system was the Kraken. For me monsters and demons are part of my theme thus every one of my personal builds will be named after some sort of "dark" creature. This is currently version 2.0 of this build as I have learned and tried new things. I started out with a kit that I got from Alphacool with a Laing DDC pump and single 360x30mm radiator that I had expanded to two of as well as the Helix reservoir and the V2 DPP 755. Version 1.5 as described is what I had been running for my cooling for the last year. I decided that since I had to take everything apart for the one year cleaning event that I might as well take the opportunity to go ahead and upgrade the loop as a whole. There was a leak that occurred during my first build iteration that caused the RGB lighting in the GPU block to short out, which is something that is getting fixed at the beginning of April. I'm also taking that opportunity to drain the loop and make the loop order a little more efficient. This has been my first liquid cooling loop, and I chose this particular case to build into because of the unboxing video JayzTwoCents did on it. One of the biggest issues I had when it came to the upgrades I've done on the loop thus far was the pressure of the loop itself. In one iteration I considered I was going to have an Eisball pump/res combo but that ended up getting scratched. While I love everything about this build once I got everything working and without any leaking I realized a few things I could have, and will be doing differently as I already have the parts needed on order. First some extra 90º fittings, one of which will be getting placed on the bottom of the reservoir with a 10mm extension. From there I'm going to take the quick disconnect from the bottom radiator and move it to the pump with the black top's out port with a 90º fitting while taking another 90º fitting and putting it on the acrylic top pump with a direct downflow into the bottom radiator. I realized this should have been done solely for the purpose of being able to remove the bottom and front rads with the pumps and reservoir still attached without having to drain either one after taking a good long hard look at the loop order. Along with replacing the RGB strip in my GPU block I will be replacing the stock Red Devil backplate with one made by Alphacool and adding a 45º fitting on the end of the port that it fills the top radiator thru allowing a shorter run there as well. I'm switching the in/out ports on the back radiator and rerouting the connection between the two radiators to go around the quick disconnect on the reservoir while also adding a final quick disconnect to the front radiator allowing both radiators to be removed without having to drain the loop, if need be. The backplate replacement is only to help clean things up in the look. Other little additions are the 90º 24-pin ATX and two 8-pin 180º PCI-E power adapters and the LinkUp PCI-E Gen 4 riser cable. The first few photos are the original layout I attempted a year ago with the kit I bought from Alphacool, followed by the final layout once I got the Helix res and D5 pump. The third photo is of an iteration I had considered using the Alphacool Eisball pump/res combo that ended up not working out. All of the rest of the photos are of the build as it currently sits in my office.$4,554.92 -

It was the days of the 386 and 486s had just come on the market. The PC I took to college was a 386 DX40 with the extra math coprocessor, 4MB of RAM and a 40MB hard drive. However, as I got older, I guess I got lazy and succumbed to the prebuilts, buying a mix of Dells, Gateways and even an Apple or two. Fast forward 25 years and my decade old PC was struggling to keep up, so I decided it was time to get a new one. Since my my pre-teen daughter is taking an interest in technology and digital art, I wanted to build a PC with her so she can start learning all the components' names and functions. Who knows, maybe one day she'll want to build one of her own. It all went together within an afternoon and should be easy to maintain thanks to the case design and layout. It's not a gamer, show piece but it will plow through all the Adobe and animation applications I can throw at it. I'm not a gamer, so this was spec'ed more for creativity, rendering and to help support my hobby as a photographer. The benchmarks were done right after installing the OS, with no overclocking or tweaking of any kind. While the machine is up and running, the space towards the front where many people mount a vertical 360 radiator is empty, so I'm toying with the idea of making something with my 3D printer and a sheet of acrylic to give it a little personalized flare. Feel free to comment below if you have any ideas on what I could do there.... Hans Solo in Carbonite??!?!$4,204.87 -

The sole purpose was for video editing and music creation. Secondly was to play some light gaming and virtual lab testing system. I am a Musician/IT technician, and music/video is a big part of what I do. So, I needed something that could handle both, and do other things in the process without having to choose weather to close programs because the components are lacking. I use Adobe premiere, photoshop, aftereffects, media encoder, and DaVinci Resolve for video creation and editing. For music I use Pro Tools and Reason. For games I do mostly racing and sports. For my virtual system I use VMware for my test labs for work. With all that said, building something powerful, stable and can handle everything is crucial. I have always used intel for my pass builds but I decided to take a jump to AMD for the first time and must its been great. Went with the Ryzen 3950x and it just powers through everything. Check out the parts I used, some might be overkill but why not lol. I do not like ordering things online and having to wait. So, Microcenter was just the best place to get all the parts I needed to create this build. Just want to say thank you and for making my dream possible.$3,792.92 -

I've been building computers for over 25+ years and have always skimped on price and parts. This dream build came true when I finally received the 3090 Founders Edition for the actual MSRP. I put in sooooo much time, energy and work to get these parts all at MSRP or lower because I feel to shell out way more than their worth only empowers the decline of what PC building is supposed to be: A joy for all, and especially a joy for upcoming generations. So I went on a long journey during the pandemic and scoured many places online, especially Microcenter clearances, to find parts marked down or underpriced. I'm a gamer and that's what I build these beautiful machines for. I love every genre of gaming. I play NBA2k, Madden, Call of Duty, Fortnite, League of Legends, Lost Ark, Cyberpunk, Horizon Zero Dawn, Final Fantasy XIV, Halo, Shadow of the Tombraider, Metro, Gears 5, Destiny 2, Valheim, Red Dead, Dying Light 2, Age of Empire, Forza, Mk11, Frostpunk, and the list goes on.$3,744.86 -

I originally built this computer when I was 12, with an FX 8350 and GTX 950. Over the years though it’s been through many changes as my interest grew. The first real upgrade was to a GTX 1060 for VR, then I got a Ryzen 7 1700 when Zen launched, and when mining exploded I got in early enough with my modest little machine to buy a 1070. Between those mining Etherium I saved up enough to sell those and get a EVGA 1080 TI Hybrid. I then traded my dad for one of his MSI Armour 1080 TI he had after mining died (since he was one of the weirdos who bought 10 graphics cards for it) and a small Corsair AIO since it seemed to be a better overclocker than my hybrid. That’s actually still the card I have today (yes the list says 2070 super it’s just the closest thing to it). Then when Zen 2 came out, I showed up on launch day and got me a 3700x. As luck would have it my motherboard didn’t get the bios update so I had to get a new one, and at the time the cheapest one with a post code read out was the behemoth of a board that is the Crosshair VIII. It wasn’t a wise purchasing decision if I’m being honest but I love the board nonetheless (even if the overclocking buttons don’t work as advertised). The reason I put this build here as new, is because one, I’ve never posted it before, and two, I just rebuilt the entire thing in an 011 Dynamic with custom water cooling. Another enormous waste of money, but one I love nonetheless. I think the theme here is to have fun with the computer not on the computer. With the new loop, and the 20$ gpu block, t-die is 40 degrees in time spy extreme fully overclocked. I now hold the world record in my hardware config (aside from a guy who somehow hacked 3D mark and is 2000 points above stock at stock clocks). Other than the cooling though, I also modified the current sense circuit for the 2 8 pin pcie power connectors by piggybacking some 8 miliohm resistors on top of the existing ones. This means under full load the card thinks it’s only using 80% of its (already modded through vbios) 120% Limit, stopping gpu boost from hitting power or thermal limits ever. I love this thing and I can’t wait to play with Zen 3 when it comes out, a unified ccd is going to be a whole new adventure to tinker with. A couple of notes before I go though, my TIM is not liquid metal, it’s Kryonaut, Cunductonaut was just the closest thing in stock. Additionally I don’t have the gigabyte SSD, I have a Sabrant Rocket that I got for way cheaper and actually has 50000 iops on the one in the build list. Lastly, the RGB on the fans is from Phanteks Halos that microcenter also doesn’t sell, but turns the beastly Vardar fans into something with really good rgb (the EK rgb Vardars only have one set of leds that aren’t individually addressable).$3,514.45 -

Finally decided to make myself a high end gaming machine after spending most of my life with mid/low tier machines that would upgraded over time. Figured since I would be building a better machine why not customize it a bit while I am it. Yea I know, 011d but its just a nice looking and functioning case. As for what games I play? Just about everything but these days I have been on a bit of a survival kick. Me and a friend just beat co-op Green Hell. Great little game. As for future plans, really don't think I have much really, although I saw an amazing infinity mirror mod a few weeks ago that I really want to build but other than that maybe an in case display of some kind but I think I its pretty much done for a few years, it does what I want and with the new tech coming in the next few years it's probably better to wait anyway. Who knows, maybe by the time I need a new GPU the world will have gone back to normal and I can just drive up to MC and get me one without having to get up at 4am and camp outside when its 28 (&*(#$@ degrees out. Comments and suggestions welcome.$3,443.86 -

Most of the games I play are found on Steam, Blizzard, Epic Games, LoL, Valorant, etc. I'm a OIF/OEF Vet myself, my teenage kids wanted to get into PC gaming (they're "upgrading" from consoles/Fortnite) and I come from an automotive repair background so putting together a PC is trivial in comparison to an engine or fine tuning suspension for an auto cross track. Anywho, future upgrades to include the new 6800 XT or some 3080's were available but I'll deal with having 5700 XT's for now as a place holder. There were multiple reasons why I went forward with building this when I did – one of them being for remote working purposes as I am a Graphic Designer full-time for a company in New York City. I would be lying to you if I said I didn’t have streaming and playing video games on the list of reasons why also! Part of me wishes I went with the EVGA RTX 2080 TI XC Ultra GPU rather than my 2080 Super but I’m not complaining. I know I’ll eventually upgrade to a dual SLI at one point or another but with that, I’ll probably need a bigger computer case and a higher wattage power supply. Also going to get another M.2 SSD for my motherboard since two are compatible. I stream a variety of games Part-Time on Facebook and love interacting with new gamers in the chat!$3,231.85 -

I've thrown everything I can at this thing except RAW RED without issue. I love playing Valorant at 240+ fps and New World at an immense 30 +/- 5 fps. I would've added a second spoiler but it didn't seem right. I contemplated swapping the Noctuas on the top for Scythe RGBs like on the bottom but the system looks stealthy when the RGB is off and it doesn't seem worth it to compromise the look. If the be quiet RGB fans were available at the time I would've 100% gone with those throughout the entire build. The 8tb easystore is holding a couple hundered games and movies; It's nearing full I may swap it with a 14TB if the chance arises.$3,191.88 -

I've always wanted a completely overkill build for what I do, so once I got my hands on everything that's exactly what I did. I use this to play Dead Island, Ghostwire Tokyo, Guilty Gear Strive, Elden Ring, 7 days to die, For Honor, Muck, Monster Hunter World, Deep Rock Galactic, Sea of Thieves, and some emulators. What would I have done differently? I think what I should've done differently is kept all my old parts instead of selling them to make a whole other build. I swap between a Sapphire 6800xt, and the ASUS x Noctua 3080 depending on what I'm playing. Having 14 Thermaltake Riing Quad fans in this almost cost me as much as the case itself, and I probably should've gotten a bit cheaper fans but oh well. But right now I am happy with what I have, it's not the best in cable management, nor is it the heaviest hitter in the rest of the showcase, but it does everything I need it to.$3,184.89 -

I used to be a big gamer back in the 90's when Counterstrike, Quake III Arena and lan parties were a thing. I used to work for the old Comp USA in FL in the upgrades dept. and I was a big NFS fan also back in the days. As I got older I faded away from PC's and technology. A few years back I ended getting my dream PC (Alienware Area-51 R5) and after a few years I ended getting a MSI 6900XT gaming Z trio and my R5 was having some issues with it and Alienware was not doing anymore bios updates for the Area-51. I was frustrated as I spent so much money on this video card and was not able really see what its full potential was. Little by little I had build my dream gaming room setup and I was lacking a PC to showcase. I started to reaserch PC components and also started watching youtube videos on CPU's, GPU's, benchmarks, memory, motherboards and started to get back into things and catch up with PC technology. I said to myself " I used to build PC's back in the days and I used to help people build PC's" . I took my time and decided I wanted something different so I decided to build a AMD system as I already had the 6900XT video card and I based my build around that. One day I went to Microcenter and met Andy Robertson and I told him what I was planninng and what I had in mind and after almost 2 hours of asking questions and showing me the differences and educating me he gave me his insights on some components and helped me pick up everything down to the case and I could not be happier. I recycled some componets I had aready bought to upgrade my Alienware Area-51 R5 and combined everything with the new build. A few more trips to Microcenter and the amazing help that Andy provided and also the patience he had with me while I was showing him pictures of my gaming room and what I had already had setup he gave me more suggestions and the build was finally complete. I cannot thank Andy enough for his patiance and time and for helping me build such an amazing PC.$3,170.87 -

The most demanding games I've thrown at it so far are Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 both of which ran amazing at Ultra Settings. The 32GB of ram is used occasionally to run Cisco lab simulators in VMWare. The remainder of the time it's mostly used for web browsing and to play League of Legends. I should have gotten a faster SSD in the beginning and also more of it. Will have to add another 1TB in the near future. Love the case and RGB but Corsair software can be annoying at times. Strimer cables would have made it a bit neater, but I feel that pulling the GPU cables over the top helps a lot already. Built at the height of the GPU shortage.
