This gaming rig has been one of those projects that's been in the making for a lifetime. I've always wanted a gaming rig that matched what I've always seen from "art" looking builds. Big glass panels, fans all over the place, water cooling, and just overkilled for the sake of overkill. Over the last few years I had experimented with water cooling with custom loops, AIO's and all other configurations to get to this point. Honestly this build only happened because the 011 XL came out. At that point I had majority of my parts but in a Define R7. Swapping out and putting into a new home was priority number 1 for me. Moving everything out, and planning the loop the way I wanted with the blocks I wanted was a months long project at the beginning of the year. What sucked was going through multiple iterations of this build, as there was always something else i wanted to add or change. Over the course of this year, I got COVID just as I was starting to perform the build. It sucked because as I finished the first round of the build, I ended up in the hospital. Upon my recovery, it right there waiting for me, but I still wasn't satisfied. Found new mobo, swapped that out, went with monoblock, decided on clear tubing, and decided to veritcally mount the GPU. This PC has gone through multiple iterations, but I think where it's at now, is probably peak of what I'll reach with the current hardware I have. I would love to get my hands on a 3080 founders and a new EK waterblock for those founders, but I will need to be a patient bee for that one for now lol. As of now though, this gaming machine was a lifelong project turned reality all thanks to a new case that met all of my needs. Add that the time it took to gather the hardware, and BAM. We have what we have here. I am adding pictures of the buildout process as well as where it was, and where it's now.

As a graphic designer with a dying MacBook pro, I desperately needed a replacement for work that could render without lagging and hours of waiting. After a while, I also decided that I wanted to game on that computer, what's the point of having two graphic cards if you won't play a couple of games. Plus, everything looks so impressive on a 5k screen, so crisp! I needed specifics parts that were compatible with Hackintosh; it was a lot of research but fun! This was my first build with a glass panel, and I felt it looked a little sad and empty. Since I also needed a place to store all my little Disney creatures, they all ended up inside it (temperatures are still surprisedly low)!

Red Storm is built on a Gigabyte Z390 Xtreme board with an Intel i9-9900K CPU, 32gig of Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB RAM (3600MHz); 5 Samsung SSD's (2 NVMe, 3 SATA), an AMD Radeon VII GPU. For the OS, I’m running the latest 64-bit version of Windows 10 Pro, ver. 2004, build 19041.388. My Monitor is a 24-inch NEC wide gamut monitor @ 1920 x 1200. I tend to organize my files/media by drives so I use a 512gig NVME 970 Pro for my OS drive, a 1TB 970 Pro NVME for my finalized photos/work images. A 2TB 960 EVO for games, 1TB 860 EVO for music files, and 2 TB 860 EVO for on-site minor backups. This is a multimedia build used for photo editing via Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, gaming (Division 2, Metro Exodus, Skyrim), audio rips (dBpoweramp), music streaming (Plex, JRiver Media Center), and school/work (Office 365). While the system is capable of overclocks of 5.1gig, I keep it at base settings (XMP enabled) to not only insure stability, but quietness. It’s is housed in a Cooler Master H500M (mesh front) case, which has 3 case fans – a real Corsair 140mm ML (Magnetic Levitation) RGB fan, two front stock Cooler Master 200mm LED fans. The CPU cooler is a Corsair H115i Pro RGB platinum AIO with two stock 140mm ML RGB fans. The 1000-watt EVGA power supply has an Eco mode that prevents the fan from running unless the power supply is pushed. And the AMD Radeon VII (16gig of HBM VRAM) has 3 stock 75mm fans that constantly run but are silent unless pushed as in gaming (Example Division 2). The end result is an incredibly quiet build that keeps temps at bay (idle 30, loads 78ish while gaming). My room ambient temps average 76F/25C (78 summer, 74ish winter) Also connected to the PC is a Teac UD-503 USB DAC which has inputs for USB, Analogue, and Digital. I USB for clean musical sounds, and the motherboard’s built in ESS Sabre HiFi DAC (using Realtek drivers) for gaming or YouTube. I'm really happy with this build :)

The purpose of this rig is for gaming, the CPU and GPU was slightly overclocked due to the low temperatures after the custom loop and the water cooling, the CPU and GPU together sit at about 40c whereas prior to the custom loop the CPU was at about 50c and GPU at about 84c under stress. The first build was a non water cooling build over 12 years ago with the first i7 processor line that came out. I originally had an i7 860 which ran me into this build since the CPU was old.

This is a top of the line Intel based gaming behemoth. All of the components were chosen because they were, and still are, top of the line for a gaming rig. The customer brought the machine in this year for a water cooling upgrade. Planning for the custom loop was rather difficult, as the open air design of the case does not leave very many mounting options. The final result was well worth the effort. The case used for this build is the InWin D-Frame 2.0, which comes equipped with a built in 1065w power supply.

Haven't had a capable gaming pc in over 10 years and haven't actually built systems in over 20 years (my bro and I used to as teenagers). When my wife gave birth to our second son and we got a nice tax refund, my wife gave me the all-clear to get myself a new system. Bought a prebuilt at first but due to problems with the system and poor customer service, I returned it and got to researching my own build. The system started off on a Gigabyte board and NZXT case, but after more problems with certain parts, I ended up with an almost completely Corsair build. Out of all of the customer service issues I had to deal with, they are simply the best: no hassle, no run around, just fast RMA. As for the system, I use it to play mostly single player RPGs or FPS games. I love the Metro series, Divinity games, The Witcher games, Resident Evil, BattleTech and MechWarrior, Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Deus Ex, and so many others. Recently I played most of the latest games with real time ray traced effects and I'm eagerly anticipating where the technology is heading. Really looking forward to a couple of other games that will feature the technology in Cyberpunk 2077 and Vampire Bloodlines 2. Also really looking forward to Baldur's Gate 3. Currently enjoying Season 2 of The Division 2 with my brother, and really hoping that the next Control DLC will feature Alan Wake as many expect it to be! In the future, I hope to install a hard line custom loop, likely in the Hydro X series since I already have a Commander Pro and have already installed a soft tube Hydro X loop for a friend. Sadly, I can't find a water block for my card (they appear to be EOL both at EVGA and EKWB - Corsair doesn't make one for my model), so if I want to go custom loop, I'll probably have to get a new card. Otherwise, I don't really plan any other upgrades until I replace the system maybe in five years, especially since Z390 is also the end for upgrades.

I Originally had the build in the another case with a few different parts, but I really wanted to make a good looking custom loop computer. The parts were pieced together over time, building it up each time I upgraded and finally getting it to where it is now. I love this build, not only is it a beautiful machine to look at, its a beast in the gaming realm. I wanted a build that I would love to look at, and one that I never had to worry about "Could it run this game?" And this build has exceeded both expectations!

This is not this customer’s first experience with Micro Center - he has come to us several times with this case before and knew our abilities. He decided that his original build in this Cougar Conqueror Case was outdated, so he did some research and decided on what he wanted including what components of the original build could be used. This is no ordinary computer, with its open air case with all see through panels the cable management was a feat on its own, the customer made it very clear that this build would be a thing of pride something to show off to all of his fans. It included FOUR RGB Trident RAM sticks - the ones that look like diamonds! Amazing graphics were not enough, he needed out of this world real life graphics, so he chose TWO Gigabyte RTX 2080ti graphics cards that he could run in SLI mode. A silent all in one liquid cooler from Corsair fitted with RGB fans and TWO SSD's - one from the original build plus one brand new!

At first I was going to get an AIO and then decided to go the custom loop route, I will be adding another radiator and liquid cooled GPU when the new Nvidia cards launch. I have a wide range of games I play, some as simple as Garry's Mod all the way to something unplayable without a ridiculous PC like Star Citizen. Only thing I'd change is the case, no room for a large modular PSU and the drive tray at the same time so for the time being I've ditched the HDD's and am running on only the two M.2 SSD's. I'm planning out another build for a buddy of mine which will essentially be a more polished version of my original with the changes I would've made, going with a Fractal Design Meshify S2 for that one.

I've been a PC gamer since Highschool, but never had that "prime gaming build". So I took it upon myself to learn, read, and watch videos non-stop on how to build a PC, what the compenents do, why choosing certain parts over another matter, etc. This was my very own PC I solo built, and honestly I was expecting so many problems at the boot-up. It booted immediately, my girlfriend and I were shocked to say the least lol. I'm more confident in my building potential, but I'm probably going to build off of this one for a loooong time. Looking forward to that GeForce RTX 3090! I'm always about futureproofing, especially with how fast the gaming industry changings and adds even more stunning visuals. I also wanted a seamless, single, streaming PC. I just need to work on scheduling better, but this streams with almost no issues what so ever.

I had been waiting years to rebuild my old workhorse, and I finally got around to looking for parts that not only performed well, but satisfied my aesthetic. I had dabbled in custom loop coling before, but I finally was at a point in my life I could go all out. Overall gaming includes FPS, RTS, and combat sims, and also used *regretably* for work. I'm probably going to rebuild this system into a bigger case, like the Thermaltake WP200, in order to clear my desk of the external hard drive enclosures and get better airflow (while it's good in this system, theres only one fan at the very top of the case in the front section for airflow over the components. Thinking of also getting the monoblock and replacing the CPU block for some better thermals.

I had an older desktop that ran an i5 and the GTX1060 with a standard monitor. With this build, I wanted to upgrade more on the internal parts as well as my monitor to give myself a great computer that would run everything I needed. However, I did not upgrade the CPU to a high-end processor or the video card as I built it around a budget as well as what would satisfy my needs. However, my upgrade itch did cause me to expand from one regular monitor to three 27” MSI curved gaming monitors. In addition, since it was a gaming machine, I wanted to add some flair with RGB, so I did incorporate that into the build. Currently, I am using it to play World of Warcraft, Skyrim, PUBG and Star Citizen (Beta). So far, this machine has run everything I have thrown at it and has met every expectation I wanted.

Since then, I've splurged whenever I could afford to, and though it's no longer the cheapest option like I originally planned, I do get a powerful system that looks so fantastic in action! My PC is for mostly gaming. I play just about anything that catches my eye, from lesser known games like Duck Game and Temtem, to AAA games like Cyberpunk 2077 and GTA V. My favorites though, have to be Detroit: Become Human, Payday 2, Borderlands 2, and Beat Saber (I have the original Vive for anyone curious!). I also draw, write papers, and did all my work on it in college, so it doubles for general purpose. I think I'm done upgrading for a few years, as I just got my GPU and new PSU this past year, but my next will definitely have to include the CPU/MOBO/RAM. In case anyone is wondering, I still am entering the competition despite not needing an upgrade myself, because I'm getting my boyfriend into PC gaming now! I'm surprising him with a 3060 Ti that I was able to grab next week, but we still need everything else eventually. :') As for anything I'd do differently, I guess work on my cable management and how neat it looks inside with the lighting, but I can always fix that next time I do anything with it, I guess. :)

The main use for this rig will Freelance UX/UI Design with a little bit of gaming as well. I've been a Mac user for 15 years and only used PC off and on to casually game. Now that I work-from-home almost exclusively and 2012 was the last time you could buy an upgradable Macbook Pro, I've decided to jump ship and move to something I can actually upgradable and more powerful. I'm very pleased with this setup, it has lots of power, memory, and storage. I am able to have tons of design applications and browser windows open with no performance issues. Now I just need to get used to Window's CTRL vs Mac's CMD which is in the same spot as ALT. The first day using this for my design work I hit ALT+Z about 400 times which brings up Geforce Experience overlay. LOL I built this computer using Micro Center's Custom PC Builder, reserved my parts online, and picked up my parts hours later. Pretty cool being able to put together a complete build and pick up your parts the same day. The Custom PC Builder has compatibility filters so it only shows parts that will work together based on your selections. Although build this computer myself because I really enjoy the building process. For a small fee, Micro Center offers a building service which they will put together the hardware, and make sure it posts. For a bit extra cost they can even install Windows, appropriate drivers, and make sure it's up and running before you pick it up. You could literally pick out your parts on a lunch break and pick up a working computer after work, they just need a 4-hour window to build it.

This computer laughs at every triple A game and completes most tasks with a breeze. Not only is this computer a powerhouse but it has the lights to match it. 5 full RGB fans, along with 4 RGB strips, a RGB CPU cooler and RGB ram, how much more can you ask for. Also don't forget the motherboard and GPU have customizable lighting as well. With software like Icue, you can change the lighting however you want. This rig with an i9-9900k and an ASUS ROG Strix 2080ti, this computer doesn't have many rivals. You could perform the most demanding tasks for days and the computer would never lose an inch of speed. This rig can do almost anything and allow a user to accomplish all his tasks with ease. This is a dream build for any one.

Customer wanted to have a really good gaming PC that would last him for a while and wanted the desktop to be a showpiece. First he wanted to get the 570x, but the mix of SP120's and LL120's wouldn't look good. The salesman and the tech were both able to convince him to get the 500D RGB edition instead which saved 10 dollars for him!
