In 2020, after doing a great amount of research into computer building and picking out a number of components, I built my own gaming PC. In retrospect, I should have put more effort into cable management and chosen a better CPU so as not to bottleneck the 3080, but I'm still proud of this thing and I'm happy to see it evolve over the years.$1,407.89 -

Built my first computer when I was 13 from saved up allowances, birthdays and Christmas. As time progressed and parts became better, I upgraded piece by piece, upgrading the cpu once, the gpu a couple years later. Then in this past year, I decided to go all out so I got myself the best parts I could afford and rebuilt my old pc and adding in hardline liquid cooling. I swapped the gpu cpu and motherboard to the new am5 chip. The original harddrive from when i built my first computer is still in here and I feel really proud of how far the old thing has come.$2,185.92 -

I am a gamer, and I focus on graphics and smooth game play, so the games I play take up a lot of room and computing power. With a game library of over 1,000 games and constantly getting more, I have to keep adding and/or replacing parts to my rig. Anything from older Command and Conquer games, Mass Effect, Starcraft; to new hits like Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield, Destiny 2, Battlefield. With this in mind I am always looking at new gear and reviews (even when not planning an upgrade) so I am able to keep up with new games while making sure I can still play the old favorites. I am looking into the streaming field as well, just not sure how to start getting followers.$8,174.25 -

All the way from the aesthetics to the hardware. I wanted my first gaming computer to play all of my retro game collections up to AAA titles, with having it being future proof for a few years. One major adjustment I made after buying all of my parts, was exchanging my Sapphire Nitro+ Radeon RX 6600 XT 8GB for the Sapphire Nitro+ AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 12GB. The 6700 XT has better graphics, more VRAM and is more aesthetically pleasing to the eye.$1,601.45 -

PURPOSE >> This computer was built for mainly general purpose use (i.e., emails, online meetings, presentations, Youtube, etc.) along with amateur graphic design + 3D modeling (i.e., Photoshop and eventually Blender with future plans to use with 3D printer) and light 1440p gaming (looking to get into Diablo 4 given Diablo2 nostalgia, NFS Unbound, maybe Starfield since it was included with CPU purchase, LoL, etc.) FORM & FUNCTION >> Foundational image of the build I had in mind was the mATX platform, making sure I wanted to avoid a full-tower and full-sized ATX motherboard (what was used in my last PC built back in 2007). I purchased the Antec NX200M case purely due to its design. From there, given the timely release of the most recent Ryzen 7000 series CPUs, I went with the energy-efficient yet still powerful Ryzen 7 7700 and associated ASRock B650M motherboard (which is mainly black with white accents). Given the relatively lower TDP, I went with a smaller dual-tower CPU cooler and purchased in white to accompany the motherboard accents and provide some contrast to the black internals of the case. From there, I made plans to eventually purchase a 7800XT GPU when released, and identified the ASRock Challenger as a perfect design fit for my system (to be purchased in the near future). An adequate PSU was purchased to accompany the 7800XT and overall power needs. RAM and storage were purchased with best affordable function in mind. After some consideration, I then built my own front cover to replace the Antec OEM plastic facade. Design mimics the Fractal North but utilizes my own desired wood stain/tone. TIMELINE//FUTURE PLANS >> Parts for this build were purchased over a period of 6-8 months, and this setup is still a work in progress, with future plans to purchase an AMD Radeon 7800XT and an extra 2TB NVME SSD.
