Practical Everyday Use + Music Production + Gaming PC
by Andon Posted on: 3/9/2022Build Description
I built this early to mid 2020, but I am submitting this now to get a 25 off for my next build at microcenter! (I plan on making a portable mini-itx ryzen 5000 pc next).
I tried to make a really practical PC for everyday use and for FL Studio music production, and some gaming as well. I got pretty much everything from Micro Center, except for the case and the cpu cooler. I also got a thunderbolt pcie card to add some more ports and to future proof me in terms of connectivity. (Some of these prices have changed, and I used some old parts and coupons/gift cards here and there. The final price was maybe 3 or 4 hundred less).
This has an intel 9900k processor that I got after 10th gen came out, so I got a good deal. It also has a gigabyte 3070 gpu to match the board, and a western digital black 1tb for the boot drive. Later on, I also got a 4tb hdd to add some storage. I also got 2X 16gb 3200 of g. skill RGB ram, and I don't think I will be adding more anytime soon. The built in bluetooth and wifi on my aorus z390 board is great.
All my BIOS are on the latest version, and I am on the latest build of windows 10 (I have no desire to ever go to windows 11, honestly). The system has been rock solid stable overall, except for some blue screens caused by Epson printer software.

Favorite Feature
My favorite feature is the Gigabyte 3070 that I was able to get at my nearby Mayfield Heights Micro Center! I had to wait a few hours, but it was worth it. Micro Center is the best. I set it up, updated the BIOS, and enabled resizable bar, and it performs great with good temperatures. My previous card was a 2 fan 2060, so the 3 fans on this one are especially nice! I set them to run only when it heats up to prevent extra dust and increase the lifespan of the fans. The aorus engine software is simple to use, and it syncs easily with the rgb fusion 2.0.(I tried to upload some photos below, but it says: "The webpage at https://uploader.microcenter.com/home/upload?g=462fa389-e5f0-4518-918b-52d185d10911&p=&n=10 might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address)."
Update: The photo uploading was fixed. Thanks Micro Center!
