Upgrading the 2017 PowerSpec: Total Rebuild
by userthx Posted on: 1/10/2022Build Description
This PowerSpec PC with a i7-7700K processor and a GTX 1080 that I bought in 2017 what one of the best purchases I ever made. I didn't build at that time because my previous motherboard suddenly died and I wanted to get back to work asap. While it still runs well, I decided to upgrade and swap out pretty much everything other than the mobo, cpu, and gpu, some of it just for fun (never had a tempered glass side panel or an AIO cooler before) with the added bonus of having a more future ready setup if I decide to upgrade soon. (ie. bigger case with better airflow for 30 series gpu, bigger psu). Also got rid of some of my very old hard drives that had 7+ years of runtime. The ram upgrade from 16 to 32 was not needed, but I needed the old ram for another pc so I said why not.
