Description: This article will show how to setup Slide to Shutdown on your Windows 8.1 Tablet. Slide to Shutdown is a new feature to Windows 8.1. It’s mainly designed for touch screens but will also work with a mouse for a quick shutdown of your system. Although not implemented by Microsoft by default, the files are still present and easy to set up.

1. From the desktop app in Windows 8.1 click on the file explorer folder.
   
2. Click on the C:\ drive where the Operating system is installed.
   
3. Locate and click on the Windows folder.
   
4. Locate and click on the System32 sub folder within the Windows folder.
   
5. Locate the Slide To Shutdown application file. Note: The file will only be present in Windows 8.1.
   
6. Right click the file and select Copy from the menu.
   
7. Go back to the desktop, right click and choose Paste Shortcut from the menu.
   
8. There will now be a Slide to Shutdown icon on the desktop. When clicked it will allow the shutdown your computer with either a click and downward drag of the mouse or a downward sweep of your finger on a touch screen.
