What to do if ESET Activate with Activation Key is greyed out
Description: This guide will show you how to activate your ESET renewal when the option to activate using an Activation Key is greyed out.
- First Uninstall the current version of ESET that is installed on the computer. This can be done by going to the Control Panel and then clicking the Programs and Features option.
- Once in Programs and Features there will be list of all the installed programs on the computer. Locate ESET on the list and then double click on it to start the uninstall.
- The Set up Wizard for ESET will open. Click on Remove. Then click Next.
- You will be asked why you are uninstalling, Choose Renewal Process Issues. Then click Next.
- On the next screen, click on Remove to start the uninstall. You may receive a User Account control prompt. Click Allow.
- When the uninstall has finished. Click on Finish.
- You will now be prompted to reboot the computer. Click on Yes to reboot the computer.
- Now that ESET is removed from the computer. We need to install the new version of ESET. Go to ESET's Download Page and click I Already Purchased next to the version ESET that you renewed.
- On the next page click on Download.
- Depending on the browser you are using you will be prompted to download the program.
- Internet Explorer: Click on Run.
- Mozilla Firefox/Google Chrome: Click Save, Then open the file. (Usually in the downloads folder.)
- This will start the ESET installer, click Next to begin the install.
- Click on I Accept.
- Leave the first option checked and then Enable detection of potentially unwanted programs. The click Install.
- Click Finish to complete the install of ESET.
- You will now be asked to activate ESET. Choose the option to Activate using an Activation key and click Next.
- Enter the Activation Keyalong with the rest of the requested information and then click next and your renewal will now be activated.
