Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine 2 PC Requirements: What Specs Do You Need to Run the Game?
How to get great performance from what may be the best-looking video game of 2024.How-To

Gamers are getting ready to dive into the grim darkness of the far future with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. The just-released game is available for current-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles, but it really shines on PC, where high-powered GPUs and CPUs can make it look better and play smoother. Especially on PC, this is easily one of the best-looking games of the year.
Let's take a look at the minimum and recommended specs, as well as our experiences using some very high-powered hardware.
Minimum System Requirements
To get started with Space Marine 2, you'll need a system that meets the following minimum requirements. This should get you 30fps on Low detail settings at 1,920x1,080 resolution.
- OS: Windows 11 64-bit
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 2600X / Intel Core i5-8600K
- Memory: 8GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 580 / NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
- Storage: 75GB available space, SSD required
If your rig is a few years old but still decent, you should be able to handle Space Marine 2 at lower settings, but it's not going to look its best and I'd suggest some upgrades.
Recommended System Requirements
For a more immersive experience, you'll want to hit these recommended specs, which should get you 60fps at 1,920x,1080 resolution at the Ultra preset.
- OS: Windows 11 64-bit
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X / Intel Core i7-12700
- Memory: 16GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070
- Storage: 75GB available space, SSD required
With a more recent setup, you'll be able to play Space Marine 2 at higher settings, with smoother frame rates and more detailed visuals, but higher resolutions will need even more power.

Dan's Test Specs: Razer Blade 15
But I'm not going to stop with just the minimum or even recommended specs. Instead, I tested the game on a high-end Razer Blade 15 with an Intel Core i9 and NVIDIA 4090 mobile GPU.
- OS: Windows 11
- Processor: Intel Core i9-14900HX
- Memory: 32GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
- Storage: 2TB (SSD)
I played at 2,560x1,600 resolution and at High settings, I was getting around 65-70 fps in much of the game. Jumping to Ultra settings knocked it down a bit to 55-60fps.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 delivers both large-scale battles and detailed environments. That means your PC needs to be able to handle modern lighting and textures, as well as a huge number of characters on-screen at once and it's why the CPU, RAM and GPU are all important to getting the best overall experience. On the sidebar, you'll find some suggested hardware upgrades.
Tips for Optimal Performance
- Make sure GPU drivers are updated -- new games often get specific tweaks in new driver sets
- Drop from Ultra to High detail settings -- I found that gave me better performance and barely affected the visuals
- Ultrawide monitor support is coming via a future patch, so keep an eye out for updates.
