Intel’s brand-new Core Ultra 200V processors -- also known as Lunar Lake processors -- have officially launched, exclusively in select laptops. The Ultra 200V processors are “[Intel’s] most efficient family of X86 processors ever,” with better power efficiency, improved performance, improved graphics, and a leap in AI capabilities.
The Core Ultra 200V Processors are designed to power industry-leading AI PCs. Compared to the previous generation of Intel processors, Ultra 200V CPUs will keep you working more efficiently, for longer with up to 20 hours of battery life, plus up to three times the performance per thread and up to an 80% increase in peak performance for productivity tasks.
The Numbers
We can talk about improved performance all we want, but how do the actual numbers look? With the Core Ultra 200V chips, you’re getting up to 120 total TOPS, backed by a new fourth-generation NPU that is up to 4x more powerful than the previous generation. When it comes to traditional performance, the new Xe2 graphics microarchitecture delivers up to a 30% increase in performance and the built-in Arc GPU enables support for up to three 4k monitors.

We recently reviewed (and loved) the previous-generation MSI Prestige 16 AI Evo, so we have high hopes for this follow-up. Even on a last-gen chip, the Prestige 16 AI Evo was snappy and responsive with a lengthy battery life. With the new, upgraded Intel Core Ultra 200V, the MSI Prestige line promises to be a force to be reckoned with.
One of the notes we had when reviewing the original 16 AI Evo was that the NPU provided great support for battery life by optimizing processes behind the scenes, but AI wasn’t as incorporated into day-to-day use. Now, with a higher TOPS and an NPU that is up to 4X more powerful than the previous generation, the Ultra Core 200V chips have the potential to make AI assistance a regular thing for work laptops, especially as Microsoft rolls out more AI features.

Samsung’s Galaxy Book lineup is already backed by their incredible ecosystem, with quick and easy connections that let you use your phone as a webcam and a Galaxy Tab as a second monitor. The Galaxy Book5 gets all that and then a boost from the Intel Core 200V chipset. Featuring a 2-in-1 AMOLED touchscreen, all-day battery life, and, of course, Windows 11's built-in Copilot AI assistant, the Galaxy Book5 promises to be a workhorse of a laptop.
Not only are you getting an incredibly capable laptop with a stunning AMOLED display, but, measuring in at only 12.8mm thick and 3.7 pounds, you’re getting an incredibly capable laptop that’s slim and light and ready to travel and work wherever you are.
The new Core Ultra 200V processors from Intel are looking incredibly promising for laptops, especially work laptops. With improved battery life, performance, and AI features, these upcoming computers are going to make you more productive at the office, home office, or coffee shop.
