The Asus Zenbook Duo: Two OLED Screens, More Possibilities
One of the breakout cutting edge laptops at CES 2024 is the Zenbook Duo from Asus. This isn't the first dual-screen laptop I've seen, but with two 14-inch OLED displays and weighing right around three pounds, it's one of the most impressive.
I got a hands-on demo of the system, and loved its flexibility. You can set it up as two side-by-side screens, either horizontally or vertically, with an included thin keyboard sitting in front of it -- or fold it into a clamshell shape, either with a virtual keyboard on the bottom screen or with the same physical keyboard seated on top of that same bottom screen.
The detachable keyboard is called the Asus ErgoSense Bluetooth keyboard and it includes a built-in touchpad.
Dual Displays
The Zenbook Duo features two 14-inch 3K (2,880x1,800) 120Hz OLED touchscreens with a 16:10 aspect ratio, providing an expansive 19.8-inches of total visual workspace.
The HDR screens hit 100 percent of the DCI-P3 color gamut and they can be folded back a full 180 degrees to lie flat, or folded the other way into a clamshell.
Components and connections
Under the hood, the Zenbook DUO is powered by up to an Intel Core Ultra 9 processor, which also includes Intel's new integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for help with AI acceleration. You can also get up to 32GB of RAM and up to a 2TB SSD.
The Zenbook Duo, made from 90 percent post-consumer recycled aluminum-magnesium alloy and tested against the latest 2024 Military MIL-STD-810H standards for ruggedness, is expected sometime in Q1 2024.
