Purchase Eligibility Requirements

Micro Center is requiring identification and signed export declarations for the purchase of the Nvidia RTX 5090 and the Blackwell 6000, and hardware containing these restricted GPUs, to prevent the improper importing of the advanced computing products into countries identified on the US export control country list.

Under U.S. export laws, advanced computing products capable of massive AI processing are prohibited from being shipped overseas to specific countries without the necessary licenses. By implementing these restrictions, Micro Center aligns its retail operations with federal anti-diversion guidelines to ensure these highly advanced computing products are not exported in circumvention of U.S. export laws.

Acceptable Forms of Identification

Acceptable forms of identification include :

  • Driver’s license
  • State-issued ID
  • Federal or military ID
  • Municipality- or city-issued ID
  • U.S. passport
  • Foreign passport, regardless of issuing country

As an alternative, Micro Center will accept two forms of non-government-issued identification, including:

  • Student ID
  • Employer ID
  • Credit card
  • Utility bill
  • Bank statement
  • Birth certificate

Micro Center will perform a visual inspection of the ID documents to confirm the identity of the purchaser.

Crucially, these preventative measures are vital to Micro Center's core mission of maintaining a reliable local supply of these products to support its dedicated gaming and domestic AI customers. By systematically screening and filtering out purchasers who potentially seek to evade U.S. export laws, Micro Center ensures that local PC builders, competitive gamers, and independent AI developers can actually access the advanced computing products they need to drive their projects forward.
