This build is primarily for gaming but I do dabble a bit in content creation. I also do a steady amount of work from home here. For work I rent the cameras that shoot most major motion pictures and TV Shows. I am based in Los Angeles California. This is what I would consider revision #6 of my entire setup spanning from ~2011 to present day. Is a build ever really complete?

My initial motivation for building this PC two years ago was the anticipated release of Microsoft Flight Simulator. I had been playing other simulators for many years before then and wanted an upgrade for the new intense game. I've been wanting an upgrade from my Dell Optiplex retrofitted with a GTX 1050 Ti for a while, but this pushed me to actually go ahead and do it. I still play Microsoft Flight Simulator to this day, but most of my time on this machine has shifted to software engineering and, incidentally, developing addons for the simulator. I am a computer science student and use this computer to compile Rust libraries, run simulations in Python, and develop websites. A year after getting this computer, I replaced the stock heat sink on my RTX 2080 Super with an NZXT Kraken, and it was totally worth it as I haven't had any problems with thermals since then and the computer is pretty darn quiet. The only upgrade that I see myself making in the foreseeable future is a kit of custom white cables along with a modular PSU to replace the horrendous ketchup and mustard powering the rig.

I built this PC when I graduated university and I wanted to treat myself for being the first in the family to finish school. All 4 years of school I used a laptop to do my work and play games so once I graduated I knew getting a PC is something affordable and would bring me many years of joy! I currently use this desktop to draw CAD models, watch videos, and play games such as Valorant, League of Legends, and Halo Infinite. I love my build mainly because I customized it myself. I envied the all white minimalist desktop look and I'm glad I was able to achieve that. Something I wish I fixed is my cable management. My best friend and I built our desktops at 3AM and I was so excited to use the desktop i told myself I will fix it when I get the chance... a year and a half went by and the cables are still the same XD.

After spending a couple months in lockdown, I realized my non-gaming laptop with a faulty eGPU wasn't going to last me much longer. I had been interested in PCs for a while and in May 2020 I decided to go for it. I mostly use it for gaming, school work, and some general computer stuff. Turns out the used GTX 970 I got bundled with my eGPU on eBay was the problem so that lasted about two weeks in my build. I found a used RX 470 4G for about $80 in June (just before prices skyrocketed) and unfortunately haven't had the opportunity to pick up a 30-series or RX 6000 GPU, but for now, it gets the job done. I've done a few small upgrades over the last year and a bit including going from the stock Wraith cooler that came with my 3600 to the Noctua U12S, Asiahorse cable extensions, an additional 1TB SSD, 16 to 32GB RAM, and a better PSU. A new GPU is next on my list (just like everyone else), ideally the RX 6800XT Midnight Black. In the future, I want to try my hand in an ITX rebuild in the FormD T1.

This is my pc that i built in the shortage, i wish i could have a better graphics but its the best i could do with and isnt that bad. This pc cost me around 1000 dollars, it was something i have been saving money up for around 1 year and it is a relief, and relaxant that i have finally completed it [still needs upgrades]. if i would win the 250 dollars i would buy myself a AIO so i can cool my CPU i would also upgrade to 32 gb of ram and maybe even vertically mount my GPU. i hope once the shortage i can upgrade to a 20 series or maybe even a 30 series graphics card. i could not add my m.2 ssd because there were no options but it is a samsung 980 ssd 500 gb

It has the look of a gaming build, the productivity of a...productivity build, and the general purpose of anything that comes my way. In terms of gaming, I can run Valorant, CSGO, and Rocket League at 240+ fps on max settings (1080p). Higher demanding games such as the latest COD(s) and GTAV run similarly but only around 100fps. Streaming at 1080p 60 fps is no match for this build. In terms of productivity, I use it for my business, school, and other projects such as online communities. For all of these uses, I can not tell you how many times the secondary vertical monitor has come in the “clutch”. When I’m watching a YouTube video, I’m scrolling Twitter, when I’m writing an essay, I’m conducting research, when I’m accounting for sales, I’m calculating and obtaining the information I need. I could not imagine having only a single monitor. It’s truly amazing.

I went to Microcenter to make an AMD 3400G build since I wanted a budget build and no GPUs were in stock previously. Then the unthinkable happened... A wild 1650 appeard on the shelf staring at me. I had to grab and change up my budget build a little bit. All in all I was able to keep it all under $1000 (considering I already had a case and a Seagate 2TB 7200RPM HDD). The picture of the rig is just built and went through bios. Cable management was okay but I think i can pretty it up just a little bit but overall it works as intended.

PC 2 I made for my spouse to work on and also play pc games with me. Most of the games I play are found on Steam, Blizzard, Epic Games, LoL, Valorant, etc. I'm a OIF/OEF Vet myself, my teenage kids wanted to get into PC gaming (they're "upgrading" from consoles/Fortnite) and I come from an automotive repair background so putting together a PC is trivial in comparison to an engine or fine tuning suspension for an auto cross track. Anywho, future upgrades to include the new 6800 XT or some 3080's were available but I'll deal with having 5700 XT's for now as a place holder. Almost returned both these NZXT cases (still within 30day window) and buy 2 new Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini cases + 12*LL120 case fans but too lazy to take apart both PC components JUST to have the NEW case.

However, this is now turned into my daily PC (still use my MacBook Pro tho) and I'm trying to get better at FPS with keyboard and mouse....Its definitely going to take some time haha I decided to opt out on the NZXT Liquid Cool and save $250...I'm debating if liquid cooling is really necessary as my PC is constantly running around 50*. My current games are MechWarrior Online, Planetside 2, Among Us, Antigraviator, Pacer (formerly Formula Fusion), Watch Dogs, Watch Dogs 2. Recently upgraded my potato of a computer with some (much-needed) new parts from Micro Center. This rig is mainly used for games, typically Halo Reach, Minecraft, Far Cry 5, and Mirror's Edge Catalyst. It's also being used as a workstation since all of my college courses are online due to COVID-19. When I was building my first computer I wanted something cheap sleek and could play games decently I wanted something that wouldn't stand out too much and it to blend into my minimalistic room and to show off my favorite color blue and I sort of achieve that with this computer. When I first got this computer I was excited to play My favorite game war thunder and rocket league plus vr games, but not now I'm working on video editing and I'm hoping one day I could upgrade my computer's ram, gpu and maybe cpu, with all of those upgrades it could help improve my gaming and editing, so that'swhy I'm here I'm sure I'm not going to win but might as well try and I hope you guys enjoy my PC. The purpose on why I built this PC/Setup, was because I needed something to use for school especially because of the virus that going on in the air. I also built it so that I could just have my own space in the house that I could relax in. Games I usually play are, Rainbow Six Siege, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, Fall Guys, and Counter Strike. I can usually run two things at once with the help of the two Asus Monitors that I use. I usually have discord on monitor 1 and my game running on monitor 2. This setup is also great for watching things like Netflix or YouTube. I have flags that separate down the part of the basement where I have my so called man cave. Not to mention I have to have a 50 foot Ethernet cord that runs from the computer to a storage room that's also in the basement, and from there it runs up through the ceiling directing into the internet router of the house. I love detail and that's why i have so many things on my walls surrounding the setup just so it does not look so empty. Using things like flags, picture frames, basketball jerseys, scarves, hand drawn Mario, and my favorite, a diamond sword.

My son, Chuy, was an avid PS4 fortnite player until I proved him wrong that PC's are way better at gaming. We made a bet that if I built a "Gaming PC Rig" it would beat his PS4 loading times and have a higher resolution (1440p of course). Sure enough he's addicted to his new PC while the PS4 is now collecting dust. This was our first computer build together and could not find a better excuse than to drive to our closest Micro Center (2 hours away) to buy part by part. We have put a lot of work into it and cannot wait to upgrade to a 3080. PS5 my a**.

I built it this summer to do some gaming and help with my online classes. I mostly play eSport and AAA titles such as CSGO, R6:Siege, GTAV, Borderlands, Gears of War, and COD. The 2060 Super/Ryzen 3600 combo is amazing and runs almost any game at 1080p High settings with no problem and performs well at 1440p. I think it should be an amazing PC for the next few years but I may look to upgrade the storage down the line. Currently I only have a Seagate 2TB HDD and a 256GB Inland Premium M.2 SSD so I will probably add another 2TB HDD or a 1TB Samsung 2.5in SSD. I may also look to upgrade the AIO. The white H100i fits the color scheme amazingly but I really like the look of the LCD display on the NZXT Z63. I also might buy two more Corsair LL120 RGB fans to replace the stock NZXT fans I currently have mounted on the radiator.

There were multiple reasons why I went forward with building this when I did – one of them being for remote working purposes as I am a Graphic Designer full-time for a company in New York City. I would be lying to you if I said I didn’t have streaming and playing video games on the list of reasons why also! Part of me wishes I went with the EVGA RTX 2080 TI XC Ultra GPU rather than my 2080 Super but I’m not complaining. I know I’ll eventually upgrade to a dual SLI at one point or another but with that, I’ll probably need a bigger computer case and a higher wattage power supply. Also going to get another M.2 SSD for my motherboard since two are compatible. I stream a variety of games Part-Time on Facebook and love interacting with new gamers in the chat!
