Got a great deal at microcenter with the CPU, motherboard, and RAM bundle. Pretty good performance overall, haven't had any issues. Might add more RGB or some other personalization to the case at some point.$1,524.92 -

I built this new gaming PC in anticipation of the new Kingdom Come Deliverance 2. I had a blast with the first game back in 2018 on my old GTX1080 gaming PC. It's been 6 years and I was still using the same PC. I am pretty sure it won't handle the new game, so I decided to upgrade.$2,264.94 -

I needed a new PC for work anyway, so I decided why not build a gaming PC that could also satisfy my work needs. And this is the build I ended up with. It runs pretty quiet and cool. It runs the Baldur's Gate 3 pretty well. Fast load time and superior graphics and all. Money well spent.$1,944.94 -

I built this PC in the midst of the GPU Shortage, with parts salvaged from a prebuilt gaming machine. There are no original parts left in the case at this point, but it all started with migrating the build from the original case to the Lian Li Lancool II for improved airflow. I'll also say that case-swapping a prebuilt is more work than building from scratch. From there, over the next two years, I would go on to upgrade the power supply, RAM, GPU, AIO cooler, and added Lian Li RGB Strimer cables for extra FPS! Just two days ago, I swapped the original motherboard and CPU for one of microcenters AMD bundles and now this thing is in its penultimate form. I plan to get rid of all of the RGB and put this born-again-and-again beast into a Fractal North XL case, as much like this PC has matured over the last few years, so have my tastes...even if it means I'll lose some FPS due to lack of RGB.$3,192.90 -

RAM, and an RX 580 (which was the newest component). This old workhorse could handle most indie and older/more modest 3D games at 1080p, but modern titles were only playable at 30fps and low settings. With my new (long overdue) build, I may not be playing the most graphically intense games out there, but I've been able to max out the following titles at 1440p and comfortably run them above 60fps (where possible) without the need for upscaling: Baldur's Gate III Helldivers 2 Elden Ring Armored Core VI Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth Remnant II Last Epoch I've also been able to multitask while playing the aforementioned titles, i.e. streaming several videos on a second monitor without any noticeable dips in game performance.$1,574.90 -

I have moved a lot of PC parts and upgraded but this is the final upgrade. This gaming PC can tackle any 1440p game with no issues and can also compute anything for my work needs. The 5800x3d is the best CPU from AM4 to keep all my frames steady and the 3080 pushes those frames. I know I couldve gotten 'better' components but for the budget, these 2 were the best I can get comfortably without feeling guilty. The PC has no rgb but that's what I like. I wanted to keep it all black (GPU has a little bit of RGB but it's very subtle which is fine). Furthermore, routing the cables in the PC was a breeze due to the SF750's cables being sleeved so bending it was no issue at all.$1,689.95 -

The 4000 series has been a decent line so far but the original non-super 4070 seemed to be pretty underwhelming, so i decided to wait even though it was at the perfect price point for my budget. finally, the 4070 super is exactly what i've been waiting for. very pleased so far with the performance so far on my 1440 resolution monitor. and at the resolution i don't expect to ever need any more than the 12gb on the 4070 super.$1,629.92 -

Instead of spending around $1000 on a new laptop, I thought I would build a PC for around the same price instead. Right now, I only have a couple games installed, which are Prey and Need for Speed Unbound. Prey is a well optimized game, but it runs on dx11, and arc was known for having issues with non dx12 titles when it came out. I know Intel has gone back and improved drivers for certain dx11 games, but when playing Prey at max settings at 2560x1440p, there would be times where my framerate would drop from 144 fps to around 70 fps. The GPU usage would drop to around 30% To solve this, I ended up using dxvk to make the game run on vulkan. Now it stays at 144 fps all the time, with some shader compilation stutters. Using dxvk in dx11 and dx9 titles to make the game run in vulkan has a good chance of boosting performance with arc cards. To use dxvk, you just need to paste at most two folders into the game's exe directory. There are videos on YouTube that show how to do this. The only downside is that you can't do this in online games that use anti cheat. With need for speed, the game ran well out of the box. Playing at 1440p, I get around 70-85fps at max settings with xess quality. If I disable upscaling, I can reach the same framerate with textures at ultra and the rest of the settings set to a mix of mostly high and some medium. After setting a gpu fan curve, the hottest I've seen the GPU get is 64 Celsius, with vram hovering around 62 Celsius in a superposition benchmark. In terms of the ryzen 7700x, I was able to set a pbo curve of -35 on all cores, and I didn't crash after running prime95 for 20 minutes. I'll have to run core cycler and see if it is truly stable, although I haven't crashed in any games yet. Because of this, it runs extremely cool. At most, I've seen it hit 55 Celsius and pull 75w when gaming. In the prime95 benchmark, it pulled somewhere around 120ish watts and hit a max temp of somewhere around 86 Celsius. According to hwmonitor, the hotspot was also around that same temperature.$964.99
