The Inspiration: This is a build based on a wonderful car that I'd like to, and will.. get my hands on.. the Audi RS5 Sportback! I became really excited to model my build after this special car, shortly after the inspiration to merge the RS5's sporty looks with a powerful gaming computer came to me. This was my 3rd build, although the former(s) were built over 10 years ago. I am so happy to get back into building again, and was so proud to build something that could also match the performance of its vehicle counterpart too! As you can see from my list, I went with an Intel i9-9900K (OC 5gz @ 1.29V), to go with an EVGA RTX 2080Ti XC Ultra, and a 32Gb DDR4 ram kit from Corsair. More Details: The choice for the mobo was easy, since MSI is well known for adding carbon fiber accents to their product line.. which happened to match the interior and exterior styling of the high-end performance vehicle my rig is modeled after. In fact, one of my most favorite ideas for this build was to apply some carbon fiber wrap around the cable management bar (Thanks NZXT!), which matches the absolutely stunning inlays from the RS5 interior (go check it out on the Audi website if you'd like). The sporty RS5 logo/emblem was definitely my other favorite feature, which I felt added an extra level of aggressiveness to the interior of the machine. Also, Audi is known for their racing geckos, which represent the stability of Audi's Quattro AWD system (aaand also hopefully represents the stability of my overclock!), which I thought was a nice touch to the build as well. As you can imagine, this rig performs like a dream, and crushes mostly everything at max settings (including Minesweeper for those wondering). All in all, I am really happy with how it turned out, and I hope it inspires other motivated builders and DIY'ers in this PC Gaming community. Gaming is here to stay folks, and is exploding in popularity. Who am I kidding?! I want to build another! AND ANOTHER! Ahhh!! Can anyone else relate? lol.

Haven't had a capable gaming pc in over 10 years and haven't actually built systems in over 20 years (my bro and I used to as teenagers). When my wife gave birth to our second son and we got a nice tax refund, my wife gave me the all-clear to get myself a new system. Bought a prebuilt at first but due to problems with the system and poor customer service, I returned it and got to researching my own build. The system started off on a Gigabyte board and NZXT case, but after more problems with certain parts, I ended up with an almost completely Corsair build. Out of all of the customer service issues I had to deal with, they are simply the best: no hassle, no run around, just fast RMA. As for the system, I use it to play mostly single player RPGs or FPS games. I love the Metro series, Divinity games, The Witcher games, Resident Evil, BattleTech and MechWarrior, Tomb Raider, Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, Deus Ex, and so many others. Recently I played most of the latest games with real time ray traced effects and I'm eagerly anticipating where the technology is heading. Really looking forward to a couple of other games that will feature the technology in Cyberpunk 2077 and Vampire Bloodlines 2. Also really looking forward to Baldur's Gate 3. Currently enjoying Season 2 of The Division 2 with my brother, and really hoping that the next Control DLC will feature Alan Wake as many expect it to be! In the future, I hope to install a hard line custom loop, likely in the Hydro X series since I already have a Commander Pro and have already installed a soft tube Hydro X loop for a friend. Sadly, I can't find a water block for my card (they appear to be EOL both at EVGA and EKWB - Corsair doesn't make one for my model), so if I want to go custom loop, I'll probably have to get a new card. Otherwise, I don't really plan any other upgrades until I replace the system maybe in five years, especially since Z390 is also the end for upgrades.

The main use for this rig will Freelance UX/UI Design with a little bit of gaming as well. I've been a Mac user for 15 years and only used PC off and on to casually game. Now that I work-from-home almost exclusively and 2012 was the last time you could buy an upgradable Macbook Pro, I've decided to jump ship and move to something I can actually upgradable and more powerful. I'm very pleased with this setup, it has lots of power, memory, and storage. I am able to have tons of design applications and browser windows open with no performance issues. Now I just need to get used to Window's CTRL vs Mac's CMD which is in the same spot as ALT. The first day using this for my design work I hit ALT+Z about 400 times which brings up Geforce Experience overlay. LOL I built this computer using Micro Center's Custom PC Builder, reserved my parts online, and picked up my parts hours later. Pretty cool being able to put together a complete build and pick up your parts the same day. The Custom PC Builder has compatibility filters so it only shows parts that will work together based on your selections. Although build this computer myself because I really enjoy the building process. For a small fee, Micro Center offers a building service which they will put together the hardware, and make sure it posts. For a bit extra cost they can even install Windows, appropriate drivers, and make sure it's up and running before you pick it up. You could literally pick out your parts on a lunch break and pick up a working computer after work, they just need a 4-hour window to build it.
