Bought my first prebuilt budget gaming pc in 2020 with i5-10400F, GTX 1660 Super 6GB, 16GB RAM DDR4 2666MHz and 1TB SATA SSD to play FPS games (Valorant, COD, R6). After 5 years, it could barely run cyberpunk and frostpunk at 1080p 60fps on medium setting without ray tracing, so I decided to invest into a mid-high ends custom pc built with the help of my buddy who recommended me to buy discounted bundle parts on Micro Center website and build it at home to save money for better parts.

  I developed the itch to upgrade and rebuild my Intel-based desktop pc (even though socket 1700 is now obsolete /... I developed the itch to upgrade and rebuild my Intel-based desktop pc (even though socket 1700 is now obsolete / discontinued). My main motivation is that my old Gigabyte motherboard was really weak in supporting ddr5 frequencies. Forget any kind of overclocking - I couldn't even achieve stability at stock XMP profile speeds. I had no choice but to run the dd5 modules significantly underclocked for some time. I realized that this ddr5 frequency problem is probably common among lower and mid range motherboards. As a result, I started looking at motherboards that are mid to high tier in terms of overclocking capability. Eventually my search for a good product at a good price led me to find an interesting product, an Asus Strix z790 itx motherboard on clearance at my local Microcenter. It was a great price - which gave me new motivation for my build. Not only was my desktop going to be better. It was also going to be smaller.

  i wanted to learn how to do something that i hadnt done before. ive been on something of a pc building spree for other... i wanted to learn how to do something that i hadnt done before. ive been on something of a pc building spree for other family members lately. but this most recent project was basically casting a minimize spell on my existing gaming build and converting it into one based on the small itx form factor. ive held off until now because i heard from a few different sources that building an itx based system comes with a higher degree of difficulty. but it was time for me to learn. this small desktop continues to serve as a gaming pc running games like monster hunter wilds on a 144hz 1440p qhd 2k monitor.

With that upgrade cadence in mind i decided to go big ... And small. Been watching à lot of LTT and got in the spirit to build a rig from scratch. However I'm my planning I ran into the Xikii Industry FF04 case and never looked back. Finally built it over the weekend and download some old games to try out and I'm blown away, the games were to with over 250 frames per second. Considering the cost involved it'll probably another decade before I upgrade again. Though i think I'll be okay as this thing screams in performance and visual aesthetic. Thanks for Micro Center being right in my backyard and all the parts in stock except for the case which was a special order direct from China.
