I finished up my first two semesters of college with a 3.7gpa so I decided to award myself with a new PC to game over summer break. Primary focus for the rig is gaming, but wanted to spend a little extra so that it's beefy basically enough to do anything since I'll be bringing with me back to my dorm next year.$1,969.92 -

I wanted to go current gen AMD, but was not sure about stability with 4 sticks DDR5 and Ryzen7000. I've heard it is doable but only at speeds below 4400 MT/s. I ended up with tried-and-true 5950x and DDR4 cranked up to 3200 MT/s. Went with matte black, no-RGB and no sleeved cables.$1,858.91 -

PSU is over 8 years old and still going. Currently upgrading CPU to Ryzen 7 5700 X3D from Ryzen 5 3600X to keep AM4 build going. For the future would like to upgrade all older Hard Disks and SSD's to M.2 drives but don't currently have enough slots. Might have to upgrade PSU at some point. Hopefully I can get 1 more GPU upgrade in here before having to get a new cpu. Hopefully good for another 5 years? Use my PC for light gaming and photoshop work. Also use for coding projects.$1,727.66 -

I really like the design of the Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini so I wanted to make my build around it. Instead of trying to figure out what parts needed to be replaced, I thought it was a good time to just build an entire new PC from scratch. I built this mainly for gaming as I use a Macbook Pro for work and other day to day tasks. Given that this was my first build and I wasn't too confident, I did not want to spend a whole lot and just opted for the best bang for the buck I could get. So far it's been a beast and I plan on adding some Noctua fans in the future to quiet it down a bit and improve airflow.$1,359.92 -

I work primarily in Adobe programs, especially Premiere Pro and After Effects for film editing and special effects. While it hasn't been built for aesthetics it works very well. Both programs have a very low draw on the GPU so I actually still have my old NVIDIA GTX 980! Everything else has been upgraded over time though, with as much RAM as I can afford as both programs eat up as much of it as you let them. Most of my film work is done for a local theater for their productions, marketing and live special effects. In the future I definitely want to focus on aesthetics since that's the biggest lacking thing on this build. I don't love the case too much so I think that will be the first to go. It's not amazing at airflow but has served its purpose very well otherwise! I have a 360mm radiator ready to go in that won't fit in the top, so a new case will help a lot. Otherwise this has gotten me through some pretty demanding projects and has been wonderful!$2,140.90 -

I had this case for a while and wanted to fill it with high end hardware that also had great value. In hindsight, I could have done a bit better. The PCIE extender caused crashes when running at 4.0 speeds so I had to bump it down because of that. Purchased this for a relative who was looking for a budget PC to be able to play games on their 1080p monitor. Strictly on a budget of $600 and while building with all new parts would have went over their budget, I was able to help them find something used from a friend who was upgrading their setup and selling their old desktop PC.
