Like the fox who was unable to reach the grapes he wanted in Aesop's Fables, the last several months for me has been an exercise in futility. I've wasted a ton of time trying to obtain one of the new nvidia rtx 5000 series cards, specifically my ideal rtx 5080, only to end up in absolute failure. There are still people camping outside my local microcenter store awaiting the next shipment. I ultimately decided not to sink to this level of desperation and just buy another graphics card. I wanted something decent to get my by until 5080s became realistically available. I also wanted something with a sizable chunk of vram that would allow me to play games a 4k resolution if I so desired. The rest of the build was pieced together as basically a budget-focused construction that was good enough to not bottleneck a new card (like a 5080, which may or may not exist at this pont). My current solution is an Intel B580, which has also been in demand but happened to be availble for me one day at microcenter. And now that I'm using it, you know what? I didn't want to spend that extra $800 anyway. This might have been a wiser choice in the end. Lets the games commence! (..but mostly at 1440p for now).$1,162.92 -

With all my friends building AMD-based systems right now, the my counter-current nature had me look into the reasons why Intel products had fallen so far in popularity. My research indicated that I would be pretty safe in purchasing a 14000-series cpu and using the most recent update of a bios from a leading motherboard manufacturer like MSI. I suppose one drawback is that the 14600k product lacks any kind of cooler in the retail box, but I was going to upgrade to something larger regardless. Apparently these Intel products are so unpopular at the current time that they're trying to bait consumers into buying their products by offering them free games after they purchase. Well, this tactic worked on me. One of these games, Assassin's Creed: Shadows, is what I'm currently playing.$1,243.92 -

Designed to last 5/6 years of abuse at minimum with no major upgrades so latest gen components used. runs a little toasty under load as the case I used has relatively poor airflow but he seems to be relatively happy and will handle a mild overclock on basically everything. The big temperature issue is the CPU which sits at around 80 degrees Celsius under load at minimum. I'm constantly playing around with fan settings to try get the temps lower and might bolt some more fans on.$1,454.92 -

This was my first ever build! (I'm a kid) I chose the 13600k because it's performance was similar or surpassing the 12900k... This was my first ever build! (I'm a kid) I chose the 13600k because it's performance was similar or surpassing the 12900k so it was essentially a $240 i9. I originally planned to get the Strix White 3080, but it was discontinued, so then I wanted to get the 3080 vision, but I also couldn't find that so I ended up going with the 3060 vision. While many people choose the 3060ti, I disagreed because I would much rather have the extra 4gb vram. I feel like the ram was a solid choice, but for aesthetics I would have preferred Corsair dominator. For the aio the Nzxt cooler was the perfect choice. From all of the cases out there I chose the nzxt H5 due to it's clean white look. But with the recent release of the h9 flow. I would switch out for that in a heart beat. I do think though that a possible future upgrade would be a few more Nzxt aer fans. Overall it is great build.$1,514.92 -

The graphics card was a carry over from my old PC but it'll probably be upgraded later down the line. Temperature isnt an issue as of now but with components demanding more power draw, temps are bound to rise as well. The solution? - custom fan mounting solutions in the near future!$1,529.97
