My consulting business requires some power and my laptop was aging far too rapidly. I also downloaded Baldurs Gate 3 and when it kept crashing that was the final straw, I decided to build my own showcase instead of just building them for other people. With a budget of only $800 I built the most powerful build I could and it takes everything i've thrown at it and then some. I'd like to upgrade the processor as soon as possible and potentially take advantage of DDR5 rather than the current DDR4$892.92 -

This PC was built as a specific stand-alone platform for encoding high definition videos and interfacing with a large storage pool NAS. Many of the encoded videos specifically use the Intel Quick Sync feature of the Core i7-13700K CPU. Raw video footage is pulled directly from the NAS, encoded, and re-uploaded (hence the 1TB WD Black SN770 NVME SSD being the only local storage needed). I chose the i7-13700K over the i9 models as the Quick Sync capabilities are identical. Sometimes CPU encoding is done for specific reasons. I find the 13700K adequate for that as well (although the power consumption is notably higher, the AIO keeps things silent). The power supply is quite large and also contributes to near silent operation. Overall, an excellent machine that should provide many years of service!$1,027.90 -

For a living I edit videos, usually they are 1080p short-form, but even then, my projects can get so "complicated" or dense that even my old intel core i7 6850k would struggle to play it back. I really loved this CPU and platform, but it was time to get something modern. Intel 14th gen had released and I preordered the 14700k, and I went with intel because of the Quicksync h264/h265 hardware acceleration, otherwise I would've went with AMD. I'm really happy with my build. It does everything I need it to very well, and it didn't cost me that much for what I have. The only upgrade I can see myself doing in the next year is a GPU, RAM, or storage upgrade. I still have the old parts from my old build, which I'll probably turn it into a storage server and video encoding machine, so I can edit all my videos and have exports in progress without hindering timeline performance$1,255.93 -

The "Skylake Powerhouse" was built with versatility in mind, designed to handle both high-end gaming and creative workloads. Powered by an Intel Core i7 6700K, this rig was originally built to excel in gaming, especially titles like The Witcher 3, GTA V, and CS, where the Nvidia GTX 1080 ti shines at 1440p and even 4K gaming. The 32GB of DDR4 RAM provides more than enough bandwidth for multitasking, video editing, and even streaming at high settings, while the 500GB SSD ensures fast load times for games and applications. Besides gaming, I also use this build for productivity tasks and creative projects, including video editing in Premiere Pro and 3D rendering using Blender. As a personal side project, I manage a Minecraft server on the Proxmox platform, so this machine helps me configure and test settings before rolling them out. Future upgrades may include expanding storage with an additional SSD or moving to a newer GPU for enhanced ray tracing capabilities. In hindsight, I might have opted for a larger SSD, as 500GB fills up quickly with modern games and 4K footage. Otherwise, this build has held up exceptionally well, even as newer hardware has emerged.$1,345.98 -

I built this PC as an upgrade from my very outdated 3570k build from my college years. I wanted to set it up to support video editing I'm getting into as well as occasional gaming. I originally wanted to build in a Fractal Meshify 2 Compact case but while shopping for used GPUs, I purchased a 2080ti MSI Gaming X Trio without realizing how long it is. It could not fit in the Meshify 2 C with the thicc Arctic 280 AIO in the front. So I switched the build to a Be Quiet! 500dx case which allows for a larger card.$1,362.98 -

I built this specifically to handle all video editing and gaming, as well as to have a PC that measured up to my mechanical keyboard and peripherals obsession. I play primarily single player RPGs, and also have to create a good amount of video content for work. I needed something that could handle relatively serious gaming applications as well as the most demanding scenarios Adobe has to offer, and this has been up to the task in absolutely every area. I've also recently discovered the joy that is Moonlight streaming on a hacked Switch, so now I'm able to play PC games on the go without having to purchase a Steam Deck. Next up is modifying my 3D Printer so that I'm able to stop/start/pause/monitor prints both from my PC and on the go. I continue to find new use cases for every hobby I take up, and generally the common thread is needing an adequately powerful PC to run everything. This thing overperforms every single time.$1,399.92 -
