Bought my first prebuilt budget gaming pc in 2020 with i5-10400F, GTX 1660 Super 6GB, 16GB RAM DDR4 2666MHz and 1TB SATA SSD to play FPS games (Valorant, COD, R6). After 5 years, it could barely run cyberpunk and frostpunk at 1080p 60fps on medium setting without ray tracing, so I decided to invest into a mid-high ends custom pc built with the help of my buddy who recommended me to buy discounted bundle parts on Micro Center website and build it at home to save money for better parts.$1,279.92 -

This system was designed as a high-performance gaming rig that also functions as a dedicated streaming and music production studio for my daughter. The foundation of the build began with a Micro Center bundle featuring the ASUS ROG Strix X870E motherboard paired with the AMD Ryzen 9 9800X3D processor. I also acquired a Lian Li DK-07 Desk PC chassis from the same source to serve as the centerpiece for the setup. For the GPU, I selected the ASUS TUF RTX 5090, currently utilizing an Alphacool water block while we await the official TUF-specific release from Watercool. The memory consists of a 128GB dual-slot kit, cooled with a Barrow block. The CPU is equipped with a Bykski (Granzon GAIS) block, ensuring optimal thermal performance. This build showcases a variety of components from several leading water cooling manufacturers. My goal was to create a truly customized, high-end system without being restricted to a single brand—while, of course, adhering to best practices such as metal compatibility. This is very much a dream build for me. I initially experimented with other water cooling components but found the result unsatisfactory. After a complete overhaul, I arrived at this final configuration, and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.$5,574.92 -

I built this pc because I was doing 3d modeling on an ancient laptop that I outgrew. Outgrowing it felt like a rite of passage as I upgraded. I always wanted to build my own PC and now I had a legitimate reason to. Ive ended up doing quite a bit of graphics work, 3d modeling, video editing, photo editing and much more. This pc has paid for itself in work alone, and has also taught me the necessary skills to apply for the job I am currently at. I work for a local high end corvette company and its because of this computer. Its a smaller company and I probably dont make as much as I should, but since im all self taught I figured it was a good starter wage to dip my toes and test my mettle. Its all possible because of this computer, and no matter how many times I upgrade, ill never get rid of the case because thats where it all started. That's what got me where I am today and ill never be more grateful. As far as the build itself, I dont have any regrets. I did alot of research on components and what I could afford at the time. It was never a high end computer and still isn't. It started with a ryzen 5 3600x in it paired with a 1660 super Phoenix edition Its been upgraded to a ryzen 9 5950x and a 3060 12gb Phoenix edition (Hence the name). Sitting on a tuf x570 plus wifi and 32 gb of ram, its never exactly struggled. Though since it was my first build and a business opportunity I wanted to go flashy with it. It has alot of rgb, but my rule was it had to be addressable rgb and I absolutely love that I made that rule. I hate buying items and its not addressable. I have a theme! I dont know what it is but I have one. Ive slowly upgraded the monitors to what you see in the pictures. A 32inch 2k screen and a 27 inch 1080 vertical. It helps with my workload tremendously or watching tutorials while I learn. Over all this is my pc and If you've read this far thank you. Its been a journey with this pc but its led me down a professional career that would have been impossible without it.$1,549.94 -

Had an older rig (i7-6700k, GTX 1070) that I wanted to upgrade from, especially since a coworker agreed to buy it. So I went to Microcener and got all the parts except for the GPU (purchased used). Most of the savings came from having a microcenter near me. I will be using it for mainly gaming with the occasional web browsing and YouTube. Runs pretty quiet I would say. Super easy to build in, especially with help from YouTube videos. I did run out of 3-pin rgb headers, so the cpu cooler fan's rgb aren't on, but I'll be getting an extension at some point. It's just not that important to me right now. Overall just an amazing PC.$1,494.93 -

I legitimately spent about 6 months stubbornly, obsessively, frustratingly trying to find the nvidia rtx 5080 card I wanted. I insisted that I would not pay for one of the 3rd party upcharge models that have no real benefits over the standard prices associated with the FE line that were set by nvidia. In summary, this was a spectacular failure. While the 5080 release was a complete failure for me, I found it a lot easier to obtain a reasonable 5070 card. I'm a little worried that the 12gb vram won't be very future proof, but for now it's serving me well and I have no complaints about it's base performance. While I was looting microcenter, I decided to upgrade to a larger and quieter air cooler since it was so affordable. I also upgraded my rgb components from static rgb to customizable argb - even though i still am most comfortable with the standard blue glow.$1,584.92 -

With all my friends building AMD-based systems right now, the my counter-current nature had me look into the reasons why Intel products had fallen so far in popularity. My research indicated that I would be pretty safe in purchasing a 14000-series cpu and using the most recent update of a bios from a leading motherboard manufacturer like MSI. I suppose one drawback is that the 14600k product lacks any kind of cooler in the retail box, but I was going to upgrade to something larger regardless. Apparently these Intel products are so unpopular at the current time that they're trying to bait consumers into buying their products by offering them free games after they purchase. Well, this tactic worked on me. One of these games, Assassin's Creed: Shadows, is what I'm currently playing.$1,243.92 -

When I was pricing out components, I came across a particular combo from Microcenter that was too good to pass up. Even though it took me 3 hours of round trip driving, it was easily the best option for me as it knocked out my processor, motherboard, and ddr5 in one fell swoop. And so with a nod to anyone else who ever played/watched competitive Smash, I call this my wombo combo. In Rainbow 6 Siege (1440p resolution) I am able to max out my 185Hz monitor. In hindsight, well I wish I was able to buy one of the new rtx 5080's. But since that appeared impossible the few times I made an attempt, I am rolling with my vanilla 4070 for now.$1,162.92 -
