I built this computer to hopefully last a good 7-8 years before I need to think bout updating anything. I wanted to be able to play AAA titles for years to come as well as stream a bit. I purchase 1-generation-old parts in order to save on some costs, but I attempted to buy some of the better performing/rated products from that generation.$1,710.96 -

Lately I've been playing lots of Hell Let's Loose ( HIGHLY RECOMMEND), Overwatch, Valheim, and God Of War. It handles everything like a champ. I built this PC mostly around movability and form factor, as I have to travel with it from time to time. Based on that, I chose the Lian Li TU150 as the case since it had a handle but was still large enough to fit the parts I wanted. I didn't want to restrict the performance by too much, as I tend to play competitive shooters (valorant), graphically intensive games (cyberpunk), and do video editing/digital art as well. Therefore, I chose to stick a 3070 in it, along with a water-cooled 9700k in it; it wouldn't require too much cooling in an sfx case even when it's pushed. The AIO was chosen mostly based on aesthetics, but there was also less of a chance for it to put too much strain on the motherboard during transport. Two thin scythe fans at the bottom help to support the GPU from sagging and any bending during movement as well. I originally mounted the radiator at the front, but there were height restrictions and I ended up having to put it in the back. The temps haven't changed too much since then, maybe a few degrees different. Last I checked, it usually idles around 40 degrees Celsius for the CPU and 50 for the GPU, and maxes around 60 and 70 respectively. Extension cables were also used (asiahorse), which helped the wires to reach the parts from the Corsair SFX750, but mostly for aesthetic reasons again.$1,711.98 -

My first ever PC build, where I wanted to make absolutely no compromises on airflow, as I've had bad experiences in the past from premade systems. I was very pleased to find out I had no trouble getting the PC to work. The case was great to build in, and the video helped a ton in feeling secure as a newbie. I did have to replace the originally included side fans (non-RGB) out of necessity, because they made an uncomfortable humming sound, and also weren't PWM, which did not allow me the control that I wanted. Also, I didn't know originally, how much LEDs actually enhance the beauty of a build, if you don't use red, green or rainbow colors.$1,714.73 -

It was a sad day when I recently realized that the am4 socket, one into which I've heavily invested, is now officially obsolete and will see no more released cpu's that are compatible with the socket. Instead of abandoning my am4 setup that has served me well for many years, I decided to buy the processor that represented the single best upgrade available on the am4 socket, which is the 5900x3d. It pairs with my rtx 3080 nicely so far. One thing i might have done differently is a minor compatibility ive found between my motherboard and this particular rtx 3080. Specifically, the size of the graphics card obscures access to some of the sata ports on the motherboard. It's not a huge deal though and I've managed to work around it.$1,714.91 -
