1080P Target
by Joyce S Posted on: 9/15/2023Build Description
I built this because I wanted a good match for a Asus 27" monitor that I love. It's only 1080p but goes up to 144hz refresh rate. The game I'm primarily still playing Overwatch (2, even though 1 was better). I also realized that it was a good time to buy because the prices of the SSD storage and DDR4 ram were much lower than when I looked at them 6-9 months ago. I first tried using the Intel cooler that came in the box with the 13400 cpu. Ultimately, this cooler was too loud (at startup especially) so I scrapped it and put a larger air cooler that is marketed as extremely quiet. Now I think the loudest fans in the system are the two fans on my video card. And that's okay because those only run during gaming sessions.
Favorite Feature
NO RGB. I am extremely sick of seeing "unicorn vomit" tastelessly distributed everywhere. When selecting each component, I made sure that it came matte black or dark gray in color. The overall result, to me, is more pleasing than a flashy RGB setup. I think it costs a little less doing it this way too.
