X99 to AM5 switch after almost 10 years

by ERIK Y Posted on: 7/25/2023

Build Description

I originally built my Intel X99 based workstation almost 10 years ago. But the CPU has really started showing its age despite the significant overclock so I decided to upgrade.

The GPU is less of an upgrade compared to the 1080 Ti, but I wanted something efficient / low wattage that would still run the occasional game at 1440p and this RTX 4070 does the job just fine.

Favorite Feature

AMD has improved by leaps and bounds since then, so I decided to switch. That turned out great, this thing is fast!
