How to change the Speed of the Trackpad in Mac OS X El Capitan

Description: This article will show how to change the tracking speed of the trackpad. Tracking speed adjusts the mouse sensitivity regarding how fast or slow it moves to the motion of the user’s finger.

  1. From the Menu Bar, click the Apple icon then select System Preferences.

  3. On the Point & Click tab, move the slider at the bottom to the left to have the mouse trail slower. To have the mouse trail faster, move the slider to the right.
