How to change the Keyboard Layout on an iPad

Description: This article shows how to use the different keyboard layouts when typing on an iPad. An iPad has three keyboard layouts available. You can type with the default which is docked, a split keyboard, or an undocked keyboard in the middle of the screen.

  1. To change the layout, touch and hold the keyboard symbol on the bottom right corner of keyboard.

  2. Select Split to split keyboard on the screen.

  3. If you select Undock, the key board will be moved to the middle of the screen.

  4. Touch the keyboard icon again and select Dock and Merge to return to default keyboard.
