What is AMD Cool Core
Description: This is an overview of AMD's Cool Core technology for Mobile processors.
- First, what is a mobile processor?
- A mobile processor is a processor commonly found in a laptop or tablet. While some smaller more basic desktops have these as well, the main function of a mobile processor is to act as the brain in a laptop or tablet for mobility purposes.
- Who is AMD?
- AMD, or Advanced Micro Devices, is a rival company to Intel brand processors. AMD has a number of key features that are incredibly beneficial to laptops. One of these features is AMD Cool Core.
- What is AMD Cool Core?
- AMD Cool Core is an architectural design for AMD mobile processors that limits unused elements of the processor to allow the computer to conserve energy, thus increasing the battery life in the laptop. This also allows the laptop to run cooler. Heat and laptops are not friends, if the laptop gets too hot, it will shut off to keep the computer safe. AMD has invented the Cool Core to allow the laptop to run cooler, not decrease performance, and increase the overall life of the laptop.

- As the picture shows, there is a lot going on in the processor for an AMD chip. The Cool Core technology will shut off anything that is not being used to allow the computer to run cooler, the user to still do anything they need, and allow them to do it longer because less power is being used.
