I built this PC to replace my previous computer which started out as a CyberPower PC pre-built machine but had been upgraded several times over the last few years. My PC before would run just about everything to some level, but some of the newer AAA titles struggled a little bit. I decided I would build a machine that would be able to keep up with more modern AAA titles at maxed out settings. I started by choosing a case and landed on the Asus ROG Strix Helios, and after making that decision, I decided that I would theme the rest of the machine around the Asus ROG line of products.

We all know it, AMD rolled out AM5 and it was a terrible value proposition. The chips were overpriced, DDR5 and the new motherboards were expensive and the value proposition given the total platform cost looked grim. Thankfully, Micro Center stepped in and things were looking up! With the purchase of a Zen 4 7 or 9 series processor, you could get 32GB of DDR5 RAM for free and $50 off any compatible motherboard...bringing total platform cost right where it should be. Now, the memory kit I got for free wasn't to my liking (5600 CL36) so I purchased the listed memory and sold the promotional kit to offset the cost. As of this writing, however, you can get a B650 board with DDR5 6000 CL30 with the purchase of a 7700x for right around $500. So, I'm excited about this new platform, and I decided to let it show with a little flair in the form of some custom SSD covers, including one with my store logo! (Thanks to JMMods) Yes, there's endless debate about the future of these next-gen platforms, but I personally feel AMD has done a good job with this one, aside from pricing it, of course. Right now the king of value belongs to the i5 13600K, I'll not deny that, but the 7700X is an impressive chip on a forward-looking platform that doesn't require you to go back in time to be cost-competitive, not to mention we have the X3D chips lurking in the shadow for you hardcore gamers out there. It’s my work station for work and my relaxing gaming area. I play on Vr ((I have the valve index)really wanna to upgrade my gpu soon to something to match this beast of a rig), War Thunder, Star Citizen, COD, and more. I also video edit for time to time and also 3D model when I can for 3D printing and Vr Chat. I also do slight graphic design. My dream setup has only begun and I plan to do a lot more to it! What do I plan on adding or upgrading? Well for starters I plan on upgrading my gpu as I said above. I play a lot of games that are still in alpha or in beta stage of development because I like to so these games grow and progress into something amazing and cool. For the rest of hard ware it mostly complete the rest is either more memory or just small touch ups on lighting or wiring. I have a unfinished basement and plan on build a room for just gaming. In one corner I plan on putting a nice big green screen for VR and plan on putting my flight and racing simulator done there as well. I have extra parts for gaming rig and plan on putting on together so friends and family can play on good graphics if they wanna play pc games with me. I plan on getting a nice flight sim chair for Star Citizen, DCS, and War Thunder. I plan on getting the Thrustmaster Warthog with an extra stick for Star Citizen. What’s in my setup now? For the tower: ROG Helios case ROG Maximus XII Hero MB 128gb 4000 of ddr4 gskill ram i9 Core processor 10th gen 6tb of memory (plan on adding another 2tb and that’s it) ROG Thor 1200w psu ROG LC 360 Radiator 3x Corsair QL fans Corsair Commander Pro ROG Strix RTX 2070 ( want to upgrade to a ROG Strix 3080ti or the 3090 ) Phantech RGB strips My Peripherals: ROG ASUS Spatha mouse Razor Black Widow Elite Razor Tartarus v2 GOXLR Shure SM7B Steelseries Arctis Pro ROG Strix 49” 144hz monitor (plan on getting another 49”) LG 27” 144hz monitor RODE boom arm Valve Index (with 4 Base stations and full body tracking) 5$ leather office chair If you have tips for my dream set up or like my set up please let let me know! :D

This PC was mainly built to be a gaming PC playing simulator type games as well as FiveM and GTA V however, this PC has also slowly turned into a game recording and streaming PC as well as an editing PC. I currently record and edit gameplay for my very small YouTube channel as well as I live stream gameplay to my also very small Twitch channel. This PC was upgraded a few months with a RTX 3000 series GPU (specifically a RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition because that is all that I was able to get with the stock issues) from a RTX 2080. In the future I would like to upgrade this PC to have a Ryzen CPU and a Asus ROG Strix OC RTX 3080 or 3080 Ti depending on what I can get with the current stock issues.

Back in 2014 I got my first proper gaming PC. Then it was just low end, bought by my parents, built by person at the store. All midrange economical parts. Since then I've been pretty hooked into PC gaming as a whole. Previously I had a gaming laptop so going from laptop to desktop was a huge change, so big I wondered how on earth I was using a laptop for so many years. Fast forward 2019. I've now graduated from college, got a job, and have money for once in my life. I'm still all the time following youtubers like LinusTechTips and whatnot and always just following the latest tech, always seeing glamorous PC builds. From watching those videos everyday for years, I always wanted to feel the awesomeness of a proper high end build. So it was a dream of mine to build something that would be a gaming beast and a huge upgrade from my previous build as well. I wanted to go pretty much all out, no compromises but within a reasonable budget as I'm just not loaded with cash. I had to save up for this for well over a year. I started buying things slowly overtime with all my peripherals like my keyboard, mouse, chair, table, and stuff. Last piece was going to be the main PC itself and monitor upgrade. I bought things with the idea in my head, one and done. Like if I buy this, I'm not going to want to replace it at all. It was exactly what I would have wanted in my dream scenario. Then came time where I was ready to buy, and Ryzen 3000 was about to launch. I've been doing months of just looking at PC parts and watching youtube reviews of every part so I knew exactly what I would want. I've been watching many build videos, even bought PC Building Simulator so I can practice building since I didn't want to have someone else build my pc for me. I went to Microcenter right on launch day, July 7th and bought myself a Ryzen 3900X, with a brand new x570 motherboard, fancy new pcei gen 4.0 5gb/s m.2 ssd. I got the works, then two days later I picked up the brand new RTX 2070 Super on launch day and got the monitor to go along with it. Certainly can't afford a 2080ti but that gpu was powerful enough and at a good price point where it wasn't terrible performance per dollar. I didn't go overkill with any part of this PC, everything I use 100% to the fullest. I game almost everyday on it. I like to stream as well on occasion. I want to make youtube videos on it. I use it for school and work. This thing just flies through everything I throw at it. I love it. Any changes I would make to the build would simply be adding another 16gb of ram to it. I'm for sure going to buy the new RTX 3080 and plug that into my PC. I'll eventually add in another m.2 ssd eventually and one that'll be even faster. I also wish to add in a good standard ssd as well, my current standard ssd in it is unfortanetly dramless which I didn't really know about at the time, and I feel like when running games on that it acts not as well as an ssd should. I wish that my cpu cooler and the fans with it would sync up with my other devices, also my mouse and speakers so it would be all one light sync.

He was given a budget of $5,000 and he was able to use the brand new Intel 9900KS processor. Linus decided to use the Asus TUF Gaming GT501 case with Corsair RGB fans. He built a very powerful PC including 2 Nvidia RTX 2080 TI graphics cards. Linus put this system together in our workshop and decided he wanted to sell it. With limited time left in the day, he priced this $5,000 PC at small discount for $20! The lucky customer who first noticed this PC was purchasing it as a birthday gift for her brother. Unfortunately Linus was not able to accept credit card payment at his cardboard stand, so he knocked another $5 off the price. With $15 cash in hand, he headed to Carl's Jr. after a successful, hard day of work! Thanks so much to Linus for coming out and filming in our store. We had a blast and can't wait for the next time you're in town! To see the full video visit Linus' channel here: https://youtu.be/5rwYjRzLHHI
