With starfield coming out I wanted to get a new build for it since I hadn't really upgraded in many years as my old build had only 16GB of RAM (that was a lot when I built it) and a 1660 Super. That worked as all I played was old and small games like Fallout 4, EUIV, and red dragon so it wasn't a problem but with starfield coming out and knowing bethesda games I will be playing it for years to come with newer and move expansive mods so I needed something beefier.$1,725.57 -

I started conceptualizing my build about a year before I actually started buying the components. I worked on a budget, did hours of research, talked to experts and finally realized my plans during Covid when I turned 13 years old. Because stores were closed for Covid, I had to buy the parts over the internet - and even almost got scammed on my graphics card. Something was fishy to me so I cancelled the order and thankfully didn't lose anything. The ultimate dream was to have an RTX 3080, but it was way above my budget because it was the time when everyone was buying graphics cards to mine for crypto. I settled on a 2060 and honestly wasn't disappointed. It's been 2 years since my build and I have done a few upgrades - including picking up some PSU RGB extension cables from MicroCenter and a recent upgrade to a RTX4070TI which I am excited about. My next upgrade will probably be to convert to a water cooling system. I really like the RGB look of my computer and will always look to add more somehow. I built this computer for both gaming and school work. I play Minecraft, CSGO, GTA V, APEX Legends, Wolfenstein and a few other games.$1,059.93 -

My new gaming PC able to play 1440p at 100 fps+ on AAA titles such as Spiderman. I've been waiting for the perfect price for the 3080 to drop to $400 at used. Since then, I've upgraded the CPU to a 3600 and the GPU to an RTX 3060 Ti. This build was done as a final refresh of a workstation that is based on socket AM4 and using dd4 ram. At the time of writing, the prices of ddr4 ram, ssd storage, and even graphics cards have all dropped significantly. So it was time to hit up Micocenter and make this happen. This is my first DIY gaming PC build, so, it took me a while to learn everything and put it together. I built this to replace my dying Alienware laptop I had for five years. I am going to be using this mostly for gaming. The entire build process was pretty smooth. I only made a mistake purchasing the wrong motherboard, but I was able to return it back to the store. Once I had the right motherboard, everything went well after. In the end, I am very pleased with the build. It runs most games at 1080p with stable, smooth FPS, but I will need to test more to see where the limit is.$1,300.95 -

I put it together to be a gaming PC and maybe use it for CAD work in the future. Everything in the build went very well. And I can't believe how much better my games are now. The temperatures are good and everything seems to run fine. My only hiccup was that the USB-C on the front I/O requires an adapter to connect to this motherboard. Not a huge deal but if I had known, I probably would have spent a bit more money on a fully compatible motherboard. Overall I'm super happy with how everything turned out. I did add a few extra parts not listed. Including the Corsair Commander Core XT, Corsair Lighting Node Pro, Asiahorse Power Cords, a QIVNSRY M.2 heatsink, and the internal header adapter for the USB-C.$1,547.91 -

This build is designed for high-performance gaming in 2560x1440p, which calls for a 3060 Ti. Higher resolutions are supported as well, but not at peak performance (that would call for a 3080). 4k gaming is typically not feasible except with the RTX 4000 series, which is thousands of dollars more expensive and in my opinion not necessarily worth the price. 2k is the most delicious price point. The powerful i7-12700K picks up the slack for CPU-intensive games that don't use GPU, as well as editing programs and any other applications. This processor does not come with a stock cooler so the best choice is DeepCool AK620 which has significantly more cooling power than the industry standard Hyper 212 Black Edition. For the same price, it gives you 2 more heatpipes and 1 more fan. This means an ultra long lifespan for your CPU and major overclocking performance. The motherboard is durable and has quality heatsinks. ATX gives you plenty of space for the oversized cooler and GPU. The power supply is way more than you need. This build consumes like 450-500W, so 850W is overkill, but get no less than 600W. PSU's operate at peak efficiency (97%) around 50% of their total load, which doesn't really matter because it's still 95% efficient from like 30-100% of load range. Check Wikipedia. RAM is generic. Pick anything. Don't go DDR5, it's buggy, untested, and the reviews are atrocious. Buggy RAM will ruin your life because it's so hard to diagnose. SSD gives super fast boot times. Mine is like 30 seconds. May your framerates be high and your latency low. Good luck boys.$1,817.92 -

My eight year old rig (2014) was starting to overheat, and showing its age with more current graphics limitations. Sure, I fixed it up with an ultra deep [overdue and neglected] dusting and new thermal paste; but I felt like I was ripe for an upgrade and more damage on the credit cards like a good consumerist US citizen. I had to get this baby running ASAP, so I could jump back into the Sea of Thieves and help bring Flameheart back. This was my first time ever doing this. For being a first-timer, this took me about 8 hours to do. I could not have done this without the help of a friend of mine. However, as I have been doing things with computers for about 15 years now (most of my life), I knew I would be able to do this. I did not assemble this computer with any sort of specific purpose intended. I built it, more so, for playing games and whatever my future needs down the road may end up being. Once I had a previous computer fail on me after only a year, I felt it was time to try assembling a computer myself. Currently, I play ROBLOX, some of my older CD-ROM-based games (for the most part, I use older computers for doing this though), and every now and then, I will play something other than that. I used some higher-end components in this system for several reasons. I like to have a lot of programs running on a computer at once, which is something my really old 2014 Dell Inspiron was not great at doing. As an example, I may have 2-3 virtual machines running, several web browser tabs, a game, OBS recording, and Discord all at once. With all that, I still have plenty of RAM left over for opening something even more than that. Currently, I am using a 2014 Samsung S22C300 monitor, bought it new with a Dell Inspiron I bought in 2014. I did debate about replacing this monitor, but as it works fine, I decided not to. I have a set of Logitech Z200 speakers, I have owned since 2018, they have been good enough for my needs. As a mouse, I use a basic Logitech M100 mouse, as I am not too crazy about those fancy "gaming" mice, I just like something basic, and besides, why change something I have been using for years if it still works fine? For a keyboard, I am using a Razer BlackWidow V3 I bought nearly a year ago. This keyboard has the only RGB I am using on this setup, simply because RGB isn't really my thing. Besides the paint chipping, the only other thing I don't like about this tower is that making the cords look more presentable was something I was not able to do. I have checked to make sure, that no fans or vents are obstructed.$1,451.90 -

For general usage, some gaming. I wish I had more games to play but most modern games are either absolute trash that isn't worth playing or indies that are worth playing but don't require much in the terms of power. The 3900XT I got on sale after the 5000 series came out, works well, cooled by a Noctua NH D15. Should I have waited to get a 5950X? Maybe, but I don't need that much. 32GB of ram, surprisngly I regularly use around 24GB of it so I'm glad I went over the 16GB I usually default to. The motherboard is alright, it works. The 5700XT has to be the centerpiece, I replaced the original cooler with a Raijintek Morpheus II and two Noctua fans. Never goes below 55c even during full load and is always silent. A much better experience compared to when the fan bearings were worn to the point of buzzing from casual mining for a few years. Despite the drama surrounding crypto this 5700XT has heated my room during the winter and put food onto the table for the past two years. Can't complain about that. The PSU I'm glad I went a little overkill initially. When I got this I had a Ryzen 5 1400 and an RX560, something that could probably be powered by a 450W unit. However now it's still got plenty of extra for further upgrades. The case is a Corsair 275Q. It's not very quiet and difficult to work in. I would have rather bought a quality test bench with this money. I need lots of hard drive space.$1,860.89 -
