In the bustling town where I grew up, there weren't many options for computer enthusiasts like me. Sure, there were a handful of small computer shops scattered around, each offering a mishmash of components, but none could compare to the tech haven that is Microcenter. My journey into the world of building PCs began amidst these humble surroundings. Armed with determination and a modest budget, I scoured the shelves of these local stores, piecing together my first rig. It wasn't perfect, but it was mine—a testament to my budding passion for all things tech. As I tinkered with my creation, learning the ins and outs of hardware assembly, I couldn't shake the feeling that there was something more out there, something beyond the limitations of my small town's offerings. That something turned out to be Microcenter. The first time I set foot in that gleaming megastore, I felt like a kid in a candy shop. Row upon row of pristine components stretched out before me, gleaming under the fluorescent lights. It was a paradise for any PC enthusiast, with shelves stocked high with the latest processors, graphics cards, and peripherals. But it wasn't just the sheer variety of products that captivated me—it was the expertise of the staff. Unlike the often clueless employees at the local shops, the Microcenter team were true professionals, eager to share their knowledge and offer advice on even the most obscure tech questions. Armed with the resources of Microcenter and the guidance of its knowledgeable staff, I embarked on my next build with newfound confidence. Gone were the days of settling for "okay" parts; now, I had access to the best of the best. With their help, I carefully selected each component, ensuring that my new rig would be a masterpiece of performance and reliability. As I sat back and admired my completed build, I couldn't help but marvel at how far I'd come. From humble beginnings in those small-town computer shops to the pinnacle of PC building excellence at Microcenter, my journey had been nothing short of extraordinary. And as I powered up my new rig for the first time, I knew that the best was yet to come. At its core lay the beating heart of my creation, the Intel i7 8700k, a processor as reliable as it was powerful. With its six cores and twelve threads, it was the engine that drove my digital adventures, powering through the most demanding of tasks with ease. Surrounding it, like loyal soldiers standing guard, were 32GB of RAM, a veritable army of memory, ready to tackle any challenge I threw their way. And nestled snugly within the belly of the beast was a lightning-fast 1TB SSD, its silent whispers promising swift load times and snappy system responsiveness. But it was the crown jewel of my rig—the RTX 2070 SUPER GPU—that truly set it apart. With its ray-tracing prowess and blistering rendering speeds, it transformed every pixel into a masterpiece, bringing my virtual worlds to life with unparalleled beauty and realism. Together, we embarked on a journey unlike any other, a journey into the heart of gaming and streaming glory. From the darkest dungeons to the farthest reaches of outer space, we traversed virtual landscapes with skill and determination, our every triumph and defeat broadcast to an eager audience of fellow adventurers. But it wasn't just about the games—it was about the connection. With my powerful rig, I streamed in crystal-clear HD, my every word and gesture captured with stunning clarity. And as I interacted with my viewers, sharing stories and swapping strategies, I felt a sense of camaraderie unlike anything I'd ever known.$886.96 -

Mainly the ability to play casual games, perform regular tasks, but not exceed an absurd budget. Was upgrading an originally Intel/Nvidia gaming build from 2013 that can meet regular PC requirements in 2022. Last step is to purchase and install an RX 6800 XT to pair with the new AMD cpu. Mixture of parts that were salvaged from the previous build and parts purchased this year to bring the Budget Build into a more respectful up-to-date PC. With the budget prices I paid for the new parts, selling of old parts, and being able to salvage some old parts, I believe I accomplished the "Budget Build" name during the insane chip shortage era. GPU still in process.$2,242.60 -

I wanted to build an all white PC for myself from so long. I am a huge fan of small form factor. I wanted the PC to occupy less space but don't want to compromise on cooling. This SFX case from Jonsbo made it possible. It is not a very popular case and I wanted it for that reason. Ordered in from Aliexpress and waited for decent time. Apart from the case all other parts are best in the class. 5800X3d launched at the right time. Added white case mod cables and white fans from Arcitic. Added an after market plate for the Noctua cooler. Actually I went with the cooler as there are after market parts available for this one. Very happy with it and should serve my streaming and design work for quite some time.$2,643.95 -

I used to be a big gamer back in the 90's when Counterstrike, Quake III Arena and lan parties were a thing. I used to work for the old Comp USA in FL in the upgrades dept. and I was a big NFS fan also back in the days. As I got older I faded away from PC's and technology. A few years back I ended getting my dream PC (Alienware Area-51 R5) and after a few years I ended getting a MSI 6900XT gaming Z trio and my R5 was having some issues with it and Alienware was not doing anymore bios updates for the Area-51. I was frustrated as I spent so much money on this video card and was not able really see what its full potential was. Little by little I had build my dream gaming room setup and I was lacking a PC to showcase. I started to reaserch PC components and also started watching youtube videos on CPU's, GPU's, benchmarks, memory, motherboards and started to get back into things and catch up with PC technology. I said to myself " I used to build PC's back in the days and I used to help people build PC's" . I took my time and decided I wanted something different so I decided to build a AMD system as I already had the 6900XT video card and I based my build around that. One day I went to Microcenter and met Andy Robertson and I told him what I was planninng and what I had in mind and after almost 2 hours of asking questions and showing me the differences and educating me he gave me his insights on some components and helped me pick up everything down to the case and I could not be happier. I recycled some componets I had aready bought to upgrade my Alienware Area-51 R5 and combined everything with the new build. A few more trips to Microcenter and the amazing help that Andy provided and also the patience he had with me while I was showing him pictures of my gaming room and what I had already had setup he gave me more suggestions and the build was finally complete. I cannot thank Andy enough for his patiance and time and for helping me build such an amazing PC.$3,170.87 -

I built my first SFF PC back in 2014 when I was travelling between my home and school in different cities. This was with a i5 4670K and GTX970! A few years after I graduated, I figured it was time to upgrade since it wasn't running the newest games as well as I'd like. So after some research about the state of the market and a lot of inspiration from Optimum Tech (love his work), I decided on a NCase M1 for its cooling potential and good looks! Since putting this build together, I've beaten Cyberpunk 2077, Metro Exodus, Borderlands 3, RDR2, and currently I'm working through Elden Ring.$2,459.95 -

I built this PC when I graduated university and I wanted to treat myself for being the first in the family to finish school. All 4 years of school I used a laptop to do my work and play games so once I graduated I knew getting a PC is something affordable and would bring me many years of joy! I currently use this desktop to draw CAD models, watch videos, and play games such as Valorant, League of Legends, and Halo Infinite. I love my build mainly because I customized it myself. I envied the all white minimalist desktop look and I'm glad I was able to achieve that. Something I wish I fixed is my cable management. This is the first PC I've built, been into them for years but just never had the opportunity to build one until recently.... This is the first PC I've built, been into them for years but just never had the opportunity to build one until recently. This build is the culmination of all the research and knowledge I've gained. To be honest, with how this build looks, all of my subsequent builds will likely just be downhill from here. There were regrets for this build however such as getting higher speed memory, a case with more airflow, and better fans. I'll preface this by saying I did not buy everything around the same time, the parts were spread out over the span of a couple years. I snagged a set of 3200MHz C16 for a decent deal (for that time period) back when 3200MHz was the standard until just a while afterwards, 3600MHz became the new norm. I got the Corsair Obsidian 500D just since I thought it looked clean but because I cared for aesthetics at the time, I sacrificed on airflow which I regret. All is not bad though since this is all still on a custom water loop. I do plan on modding the aluminum front panel (I got the standard 500D and swapped out the aluminum front panel for the tempered glass front panel) for the case so it has a giant hole in the middle so the fans can breathe easier so I won't be regretting the case decision as much. Reality hit me hard when I realized Corsair's QL fans are glorified RGB rings, I would much rather have gone with Noctua fans (psst, I'm down to trade them for Noctua fans if anyone locally is interested). Definitely wanted to build something beefy to play games but also do a lot of other things on the side simultaneously. I tend to push my hardware pretty hard so compromising for weaker parts was not ideal. Been casually enjoying F1 2020 but I also have a fondness for Nier:Automata and playing that modded with high quality assets and higher frame rate would really put the immersion just that extra step further. Subnautica is also a fun one to play and I would like to dip my toes into making videos or streaming myself playing it. As a final tidbit I want to add, the naming is based around JayzTwoCents Dark Knight build and Nebula build. It borrows a lot from the Dark Knight build mainly since it's built inside the same case. but all the nickel-plated tubing, fittings, blocks, etc. is more heavily drawn from the Nebula build.$3,633.07 -
