Been upgrading this box for almost 8 years now, building off of the very well-supported AM4 platform. Started with 1st generation Ryzen and upgraded all the way to 5th generation Ryzen. It's running Proxmox and virtualizing TrueNAS and an Ubuntu VM that is running my Plex server. I sometimes spin up a Minecraft container as well to play with my friends!

  Needed a PC for CAD modeling. It had to have 128GB of RAM. I wanted to go current gen AMD, but was not sure about stability... Needed a PC for CAD modeling. It had to have 128GB of RAM. I wanted to go current gen AMD, but was not sure about stability with 4 sticks DDR5 and Ryzen7000. I've heard it is doable but only at speeds below 4400 MT/s. I ended up with tried-and-true 5950x and DDR4 cranked up to 3200 MT/s. Went with matte black, no-RGB and no sleeved cables.

This new anodized version is a bit sturdier as well Runs NixOS along with sunshine to stream games and video to my tv/switch/laptop. Containers are setup for home-assistent and its setup as a distributed build machine so I can offload any compilation from my laptop onto this over the network
