I actually built this gaming rig back in 2012 as my first gaming PC; however the case was released in 2008. I bought an intel core i5 3570k with an asus P8V-LX Z-77 motherboard. I had 8GB (4x2) of corsair ddr3 1600 and a radeon hd 6850. I got a laptop later down the road which replaced the rig. The rig was left in the basement for years to come. Years later (2020), I searched the basement and found the old rig covered in cob web and dust. This was a great project to begin working on during quarantine. It took a while to remove all of the old parts and customize the case to my liking. I had to use a dremel to saw off a piece of the drive bay area, so that I can fit a 11+ inch GPU. I mainly use this as a everthing to do and game computer. I love to game on league of legends, Grand Theft Auto 5, Dying Light, other story games: A Plague Tale Innocence, Far Cry, Rise of the Tomb Raider, The Witcher 3 and more. The goal was to hit 120+ FPS on high/ultra @ 1080p and this build proved more!$1,488.89 -

This story goes back to 2019 when I had a constantly revolving wish list of parts for most of the year as my PC at the time was a budget build from 2014 with a GTX 650 and i3 3rd gen. Gaming wasnt horrible as long as i played on medium to low settings or alternatively played on lower resolutions. Eventually I got tired of it and after graduating college and working a year or two I decided it was time to upgrade. Febuary 2nd 2020, I decide to pull the trigger and made an afternoon trip to MicroCenter and came back with this $1000 build and assembled it before dinner. I added an M.2 SSD as well from amazon to the build. This computer is easily 10 times better than the former one. Across multiple seasonal Steam sales i had bought the Borderlands series, the Bioshock series, the Witcher series, Dishonored 1 and 2, and the Darksouls series but never got to enjoy lag free gaming experience... until now! This gaming build coupled with a 144hz Freesync monitor has changed everything to say the least. I did my best to OC as much as I could but I was unable to get past 3200mhz ram speed on my 3666mhz DIMMs and a CPU clock of 4ghz. If i had more budget i would have gone with 4 channel ram setup and a AIO cooler to avoid the heating up my room so much. Regardless, now I can finally play Minecraft with fancy graphics in peace once and for all.$977.93 -

My last computer build got me through many years of use, but it was outdated and really struggled handling newer games. I figured it was time to build something new and so I picked out a build that meets all of my long term requirements. I wanted something that would allow me to play the newest games while simultaneously running a couple Linux virtual machines in the background, with enough room to build out other VM's for lab testing if necessary. My only issue meeting those requirements was my budget, but the AMD Ryzen 9 3900X CPU and Radeon RX 5700 XT NITRO+ graphics card allowed me to stay within budget and get the performance I was looking for. To put it all together I went with the Fractal Design Define R6 computer tower. While not the flashiest of designs, it's well built, and makes for a rather quiet computer, all while giving me enough room to upgrade as necessary. I quickly see my usage of the computer growing, so in the near future, I plan on doubling my RAM and replacing the stock CPU cooler with an AIO.$1,855.90 -

It handles everything, from gaming to personal business to moderator duty at a couple of online forums to general browsing. The name "Sable-6" designates that this is the sixth generation of this computer, starting way back in the socket 939 days with a 3200+. All of my builds evolve as I upgrade as I can afford it which is true for this one. The sixth generation originated when I upgraded from a Ryzen 1600 and a B350 mobo to my current 3600X and X570 board. Since that time I have upgraded the case, PSU, GPU, storage, AiO cooler, and monitors. I am still adding to my rig here and there as there is always room for improvement. My monitor setup is a bit of a waste for the most part as I primarily play Battlefield 4 but I had always wanted a 3+1 setup. **Note: My actual motherboard is an ASRock X570 EXTREME4 WiFi AX but it is not a choice below. My actual RAM is 4x8GB XPG Spectrix D41 RGB 3200MHz. My all-in-one cooler is a SilverStone Technology PF240-ARGB Permafrost 240mm All in One Multi-Chamber Addressable RGB CPU Liquid Cooler. My storage solutions are as follows: C drive - Samsung 970 Evo M.2 (256GB), D drive "Games" - Corsair p1 M.2 (1TB), E drive "programs" - Samsung 860 EVO SSD (500GB), F drive "Downloads" - WD Green HDD (2TB). The monitor setup is three Sceptre E255B-1658A 24.5" 165Hz monitors, a single ancient NEC MultiSync 19" monitor, and all are mounted on a VIVO Quad LCD Monitor Desk Stand.$1,249.93 -

Created mainly for daily work, but became my gaming rig. Originally designed for performance, then quickly spiraled into aesthetics and so on. After multiple trips to Microcenter for parts and upgrades along the way, finally came to a set up I am happy with for 1440p gaming and running virtual machines for development.$1,967.86 -
