This build came to be after a four hour drive with my brother down to our nearest Microcenter in Marietta GA (Nashville moment). We put everything together over the course of the weekend. I am a Student, Musician, Content Creator and Collegiate Overwatch player, so i wanted to build a space where i could do all of these things, but also relax after a long day.$6,814.86 -

The goal of this build is to be able to handle modern games running with high graphics settings like Monster Hunter: Wilds and Atelier Yumia without tanking performance and to be ready for GTA 6 next year. As expected for this price point: I'm facing no issues with it whatsoever and am very happy with how it looks and how its performance blows whatever I could previously do before totally out of the water.$1,957.92 -

The old build still runs great, but can't keep up with current titles. I will keep it as a backup retro PhysX gaming pc if I ever want to revisit older game titles. The new build went together perfectly and worked right out of the gate. I'm thrilled to be able to access ray tracing and DLSS now. I have been missing big.$2,649.92 -

I loved how this computer looked, sleek and mysterious. I played all types of games on this computer like Gary's mod and counter strike. It sat in my basement for a few years because I upgraded to a souped up Main gear vybe. Just this year my fiance needed a new computer and while cleaning out my basement I found my fx6800 and thought it was a great idea to bring new life to this computer and give my fiance a gaming rig she can work and game on aswell. The easy part was gutting all the old tech out because it was really out dated. The hard part was trying to find new tech that would fit inside the case, because of how compact it was in the inside. Yeah I could have cut alot of the useless stuff in the case, but I wanted to keep it close to original looking as possible. It took me about a two months of doing some home work and finding what will fit and what I can afford. The good part of building a sleeper is no products with RBG, because components with RGB are a little more expensive than ones with out. It saved me som3 money there and having a case this case also saved me money. The reason why I went intel and with the asrock mother board was that microcenter gave me a great deal with this combo and the ram too! I went with a noctua air cooler for my cpu because I couldn't fit a water cooling system. For my gpu I went with a 4070ti msi 12gb, it's a great card! I couldn't find any 5070s or 5080s that fit pretty good in this case at the time. This project came out really good. My fiance loves playing hogwarts legacy and Sims while she's working.$1,853.94 -

I was planning to upgrade to a 5070 ti but there is no stock, and then I heard about the horrible news about the missing ROP hardware defect, so I am glad I ended up getting an amd gpu instead. I love the huge 24 gb vram on the gpu, it would be great if I ever got into tinkering with machine learning, but most importantly it's great for gaming.$2,215.92 -

Like the fox who was unable to reach the grapes he wanted in Aesop's Fables, the last several months for me has been an exercise in futility. I've wasted a ton of time trying to obtain one of the new nvidia rtx 5000 series cards, specifically my ideal rtx 5080, only to end up in absolute failure. There are still people camping outside my local microcenter store awaiting the next shipment. I ultimately decided not to sink to this level of desperation and just buy another graphics card. I wanted something decent to get my by until 5080s became realistically available. I also wanted something with a sizable chunk of vram that would allow me to play games a 4k resolution if I so desired. The rest of the build was pieced together as basically a budget-focused construction that was good enough to not bottleneck a new card (like a 5080, which may or may not exist at this pont). My current solution is an Intel B580, which has also been in demand but happened to be availble for me one day at microcenter. And now that I'm using it, you know what? I didn't want to spend that extra $800 anyway. This might have been a wiser choice in the end. Lets the games commence! (..but mostly at 1440p for now).$1,162.92 -

My old build from 2019 had a hard time running the games I wanted to play, so during Black Friday I decided to build a new pc. I had an initial budget of 1.2k, but after searching for parts for a while, I ended up overspending $300. I was able to build this PC because of a CPU + Board + RAM combo deal, and it was incredibly helpful since I was building around a $1,500 budget! I've been trying to convince him to replace his 2016 16 inch Macbook Pro, but he really held off on the upgrade for a while. But, after trying to use the Macbook for heavy 4k video editing tasks in Final-Cut he realized that the laptop wouldn't cut it. So that was the very beginning of this ongoing project of a computer. The finished result is what you see here and it's probably one of the most challenging computers I have ever built. This was mainly because of the software situation, I underestimated the work you put in to get MacOS Ventura installed on a non Mac computer. But I am happy to say that it is incredibly stable (as long as he doesn't mess with it) and performs similarly to a $6000 Mac Pro. For the parts I opted for the i9 12900k because it was a huge upgrade from the 4 core i7 in his laptop, and it came in the best value (in my opinion) micro center bundle with the i9 motherboard and ram for only $400. I also went for an all Noctua cooling setup due to the quality, durability, longevity and most importantly whisper quiet operation as he does music production/recording in the same room as this beast. I also went for two separate 1tb drives to ensure ease of use and compatibility with a dual boot system. The 6800 from MSI was my first choice due to it's compatibility with Hackintosh and value for money when I bought it. I chose The Fractal North because my dad enjoys woodworking when he has the time, and it also has an absolutely incredibly professional yet unique look to it. The PC boots up to a boot menu where you can select which OS you are using (refer to image 18). And boots up relatively quick for a hackintosh (around 40 seconds). Everything in macos works except wifi and bluetooth at the moment, since his current wifi/bluetooth card is unsupported in macos. So we will likely add a broadcom chip which should be compatible out of the box with hackintosh (but you never know). I will update the part list if I add the chip and it works. My dad was extremely happy with the upgrade and I am glad that he is. There were many hurdles to overcome when troubleshooting issues and bugs, but after installing the correct Kexts and finalizing bios settings it was ready to go. I hope you all enjoy the build as much as we did, it's definitely one of my favorite builds I have ever put together.$1,309.92 -

I also use it as a cloud gaming rig. If I could've done something different. I think I would've gone for a cpu with x3d. Something like a 7800x3d would've been worth it in the competitive scene, but I still got a great deal with the microcenter bundle. As a side note, I bought my gpu and cpu cooler separately from Microcenter. Zotac 3080 OC and a Peerless Assassin cooler. Everything else I got for an unbelievable price.$1,364.92 -

This air-cooled PC in a Corsair 275R features a few Arctic P12 case fans, and a single fan Noctua CPU cooler. The 7700k has been de-lidded, TIM replaced, and even had its IHS sanded down to the copper layer to improve thermal conductivity. It runs at 4.9GHz on a stable clock, but struggles go beyond 80fps in Fortnite. It's been paired with a RTX 2080S, and has 32GB of DDR4 RAM. I have around 6TB of storage space on board, a mix of SSD and HDD. Looking back on this build, I should haven't locked myself into this generation with the motherboard I purchased, the z270 from ASRock. Going forward, I'm replacing the CPU first, either from AM5 or AM6. The GPU might chug along for a couple more years before I replace it with something from RTX5 or later.$1,809.97 -
