So when he expressed a desire to play on a larger screen than his mobile device, I took the opportunity. A lot of basica information was passed on and the 11-year old was actually to do nearly all of the physical assembly with his own hands (under detailed instruction). I only handled the cpu installation because, you know, delicate cpu pins and such. Sadly, the pc is still primarily being used for games like Minecraft and Roblox. But I hope over time he will learn to appreciate what this system can do in the context of new games.$764.96 -

Why I Built It: Switching from Mac to PC was a big decision for me, but I wanted to explore the world of gaming in a whole new way. I built this PC because I wanted something powerful enough to run all the latest games smoothly while still fitting within my budget. It's amazing how customizable and versatile PC gaming can be, and I couldn't wait to dive in. Purpose: This PC may be my first, but it's already exceeded my expectations. It's more than enough for me to enjoy gaming to the fullest, whether I'm exploring the vastness of space in "Elite Dangerous" or battling it out in matches of "Overwatch." Games I Play: As someone new to PC gaming, I'm still exploring all the amazing titles out there, but I've already found a couple of favorites. "Elite Dangerous" is perfect for satisfying my craving for space exploration and adventure, while "Overwatch" scratches that competitive itch with its intense multiplayer action. Never again will I buy a prebuilt, I have so many issues from the mobo not having screws to the microATX case looking awful in the case I got. I replaced the WD Blue 1tb that came stock with a WD Black SN770, I replaces the MSI case with the Lian LI 011 Dynamic Evo XL, and upgraded to 32 gb of ram. I plan to do more upgrades in the future, replacing the PSU first so I have plenty of headroom. Next, the crappy 6600 needs to go, and even though its not awful, AMD cards are thoroughly overpriced and underperform sufficiently compared to Nvidia,$1,273.96 -

The combination of Ryzen 5600 with RX 6600 is amazing, giving me over 200fps on fortnite (performance mode) on a 1080p, for the budget, this is an amazing build, still looking cool and modern. Sadly, all prices went up in microcenter a month later and I'm not able to replicate this build, the cheapest I could find was a Ryzen 5500 with GTX 1660 Super and a B450 board, paying over $50 on tob of this build, too sad.$664.91 -

I originally decided to build a high-performance gaming PC for playing Minecraft, Overwatch 2, Call of Duty, and Rainbow Six... I originally decided to build a high-performance gaming PC for playing Minecraft, Overwatch 2, Call of Duty, and Rainbow Six Siege with my friends. My previous computer was barely able to run R6 at a stable 1080p60 so it was definitely time for an upgrade. The centerpiece of this build is the Ryzen 7 5700X Processor. I stumbled upon an incredible deal for this CPU online, a lucky find considering its robust performance and typically high demand. For the CPU, I chose the Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE Cooler for its efficiency and the Asus B550M-A Motherboard for its reliability and features. The cooler itself had a very high amount of reviews and given its price, it has been performing fantastically. The memory, G.SKill's Ripjaws, also has not been giving me any issues at all 32GB is large enough to give me the headroom to run virtually any program I need. Storage was an easy choice, I went with the 970 Evo Plus for its insanely fast data transfer rates and reliability. I decided to go with the 970 over 980 for cost reasons alone, the performance was pretty comparable for my standards either way. The most difficult decision was the graphics card, and I ended up with a ASUS RTX 4070 and so far I have no complaints, and I don't plan to overclock for the time being. For the case I went with the Lian Li LANCOOL 205M, and I selected it for its mesh front and focus on airflow. This build was a long journey of finding the right parts at the right price, particularly the CPU, which was a lucky find that definitely boosts the value and performance of the entire computer's setup.$1,149.83 -

I worked all summer long and saved enough money that I could buy the computer and only spend half of the money I had saved. I decided that I would go all out, in the hopes that this build would last me a long time. I went with, at the time, all the latest and greatest parts that I could buy, without spending so much that I am approaching the point of diminishing returns. And so the Space Heater was born, it keeps me warm during winters and makes me sweat during the summer. Gaming aside, the quality of life of being able to restart your computer in under a minute, not have to wait for 45 minutes to render a single frame in blender, and to just play any game I want without having to think about whether or not I can run it has been absolutely life changing.$1,730.94 -

He likes his Switch though. I like the Lian Li O11 Dynamic Mini design but it’s a little too much for my budget so I got the DIYPC case instead. I’m saving and waiting for a good deal on either RX 6700XT or 6800 non XT, then I can use the 6650XT, which is used in this build, to build another computer for my son.$616.96
