Also, a shocking display of poor financial decisions, but darn if it isn't a beauty. Very portable thanks to the Lian Li TU150's folding handle! Nice glass side to see the the goods inside. Note that one of the pictures doesn't have a glass side (it's aluminum); I originally bought the Lian Li TU150 without the glass panel, then decided I wanted RGB, so I bought the glass panel version. Included the aluminum panel picture to show a different angle/perspective. Originally I didn't plan on RGB because I wanted to be a cool, smug redditor with an overinflated sense of pride for not hopping on the RGB train. Then I realized life is short be happy and screw Reddit, I'm Going RGB Baby. I've included my monitor and peripherals too because I need a page where I can see where all the money I didn't have went to.$5,046.94 -

Been using our 2+ years old i7 laptops with 16GB of RAM, which can take 10+ hours to build HD videos over couple hours long. Wanted to move to 4K videos soon so there is no way our current laptops can handle the work even over night. Looked into different pre-built laptop and desktop computers everywhere online, but couldn't find any that meets our requirements of a powerful processing windows computer with plenty of hard disk space but without a video card. Most high end machines are for gaming so has fancy and expensive video card which we don't need for productivity, since 12th gen Intel processor has enough video capability in UHD Graphics 770 already. And very hard to find SSD drives over 2TB. We wanted at least 8TB in a single drive. Finally, I can find everything I needed at the Microcenter web site custom build page, but I was confused about a few things such as which mother board supports the right processor and memory, whether I need liquid cooling, and what kind of power supply, etc. Walked into the store, got a sales rep, and was able to get all my answers and everything I wanted without anything I don't need: 16 cores 12th gen i9-12900K processor, 64 GB DDR5 memory, right mother board with HDMI and DisplayPort outputs, basic wifi and bluetooth support, , and many USB2.0 and USB-C port at top and back of a clean functional case, and no video card. Total prices even with 3 years warranty is better than any other non-perfect machines I can find online. Able to get the build completed within couple hours on a weekday afternoon. It works like a charm at home right away. Wifi was much slower than our laptops, but I was planning to plug in the ethernet cable anyway. With ethernet cable in, both up and download speed are much faster than laptop wifi's. Took me an hour to figure out how to turn off the LED flashing lights in the case and on the mother board. Too distracting to us. We don't game so no flashing lights please. This machine cut down the processing time to create videos to about one fifth, so about 5 times faster than before. Couldn't be happier.$3,364.91 -

Gpu shortage gaming pc, mainly built for competitive games like apex or warzone but also for turn based strategy games. And I didn’t want to deal with water so I decided to go full air cooling. It was originally mid to high end pc. Planning to use a 3070 ti or 3080 with a 12th gen i5. However due to the chip shortage I was only able to get a 6900xt, and so I switched to a 1000W power supply and Then the i5 felt inadequate so switched to an i7 (i9 runs too hot and it’s just smidge faster for gaming and I don’t do a lot of multithreaded workload). Added 4tb of m.2 pcie4 storage (2tb sabrent rocket and 2tb samsung 980pro) After the upgrade I had a high end pc so I got a Samsung odyssey g7 240Hz 1440p.$3,276.92 -

Admittedly, it is a tad bit overkill, but I wanted to give myself some wiggle room for future upgrades. My previous PC build, Perseverance, fit my need and frankly, didn't need an upgrade. However, after a room setup makeover and getting my hands on an Xbox Series X and noticing the console's fans were extremely quiet, I began planning my next PC build with a focus on performance, looks, and silence. Introducing: Proximus! To begin, let's see what he consists of: Proximus is packed with black 120mm and 140mm Noctua fans in the black Corsair 5000D Airflow case, replacing the Cooler Master fans and TD500 Mesh case of the previous build. As is, the case operates nearly as quiet as the Xbox Series X, leaving the GPU the only loudest part of the system (more on that later). At the heart of the system, Proximus is equipped with an Intel Core i7 12700K. He will be the first of my systems to experience Intel's hyperthreading technology. It will be replacing the Core i7 9700K and will be the reason why I will be running Windows 11 Pro. Pairing the CPU will be Gigabyte's Aorus Z690 Elite AX DDR4 motherboard. Strictly speaking, at the time of writing this, DDR5 is still in its infancy. As I already have 64 GB of CL16 Crucial Ballistix RGB RAM running at 3200 MHZ (4x16), I decided that Proximus will still benefit from DDR4's more mature and established technology. When he needs an upgrade in the near future, replacing the motherboard with DDR5 support and using DDR5 RAM will be the first thing I do. For CPU cooling, the Noctua NH-D15 CPU cooler is more than enough to tame Intel's Core i7 12700K whilst staying silent and stylish. The 1000 watt EVGA PSU powers Proximus and is chosen with future upgrades in mind. To add more personality, he wears white Cablemod cables with 90 degree fittings to give the overall aesthetic a more minimalistic look. To pair the 12700K, Proximus is equipped with the RTX 3070 Ti Founders Edition to power nearly all of my workloads. When upgrading Perseverance's RTX 2070 Super to the 3070 Ti, the 9700K became a slight bottleneck, hence the need (and desire) to upgrade to Intel 12th gen. I am fortunate enough to have bought this GPU at MSRP (~$599.99) at my local Best Buy. Despite working there for the past 3 months (at the time of writing), employees cannot buy hot commodity items until they are off their shift. During that fateful morning I was called in to do some morning training for 2 hours. I managed to complete most of my tasks ahead of schedule and didn't even realize people were waiting outside for GPUs. I didn't even know that we had GPUs in stock either! It was when one of my coworkers told me that we had exactly 17 GPUs in stock. Since I was almost done with my training and I was about to clock off, the timing couldn't have been more perfect. In the end, I was the last customer that was allowed into the store and snagged the last GPU that was available. Anyway, back to Proximus! Since Noctua doesn't make RGB fans, you would think Proximus wouldn't stand out. Not in this case (pun not intended lol)! Using Phanteks' excellent Halos Lux RGB fan frames and neon smooth lighting RGB strips, he is able to glow and not be too obnoxious thanks to the dark tinted tempered glass. Add in the RGB GPU sag bracket along with SignalRGB, he is able to be configured in cool and creative ways.$2,566.29 -

I originally wanted to make my old PC VR-ready (HL: Alyx is not friendly with underpowered parts) by replacing the i5-9400F with an i7, but ended up dumping 2.5k on a new build instead. I clearly needed the 64GB RAM, i7-12700k, and RTX 3070 Ti for Cuphead, Slay the Spire, Dark Souls, and Celeste 😬. The 64GB RAM is nice, though - Lightroom will chew through 32GB if you let it. I'm not really a fan of RGB in the computers I build, so I tend to keep it pretty mellow. Could just be coping because I accidentally bought a mobo that doesn't have headers... but I like the way this turned out. I may not have those RGB gainz, but I can really feel the extra 5 FPS from the $30 Noctua Chromax heatsink covers. After I bought the Torrent, I found out that they were recalled because the fan controllers tended to catch fire - but luckily the one I bought was new stock with a fireless header!$2,544.91 -

I'm using this for content creation with Unreal Engine and rendering with other 3d software. So I favored the higher threads with this cpu. DDR5 was so expensive at the time and I actually had a different mobo thinking I would get DDR5. However because of the "newness", availability, and cost, I just went with DDR4 at the time.
