After gathering together a bunch of used, open-box and good deals on parts; I built my mom this computer. After my mom saw my other builds and flips I put together, she wanted to get one. She is a beginner to PC gaming and I thought this computer would be a solid one for her needs. Rocking the old but glorious GTX 1070, it handles any games you throw at it at 1080p high settings. For reference, I got it to run Forza Horizon 5 at 1080p ultra with medium ray tracing when testing, and it got a respectable 80fps avg. Overall really impressed with the performance of this pc. For the parts, I got the i5 8600 for free out of a 2019 iMac that I recently upgraded to an i9 9900. Stock cooler came with the i9, and I got the motherboard on Amazon brand new. The 16gb of ram, I picked up on marketplace for $15. I scored the GTX 1070 for only $75 after talking the seller down. The SSD was brand new from Microcenter and the Case and PSU were open-box deals.$289.99 -

So of course I said yes. She said she wanted something simple, that would allow her to do basic work stuff (Microsoft Office, etc), play a few retro game emulators, and also play around with some basic music creation software. She also wanted a mostly white build, as well as a lot of RGB just for fun. Also to keep the price down, we decided go with an AMD "G" series with onboard graphics so we wouldn't have to buy a video card. After assessing what this PC will be used for, we decided that for now, that would be ok. It's possible we might add a dedicated GPU in the future. The starting point of this PC was an HP Envy Chassis which was my first actual desktop PC. It was amazing. Then a week or 2... The starting point of this PC was an HP Envy Chassis which was my first actual desktop PC. It was amazing. Then a week or 2 later I found a better pc and passed it on to a family member to use. I helped build a new PC and this one came back into my hands. I could not keep still and decided "Hey, try building it how you originally wanted to before you bought your other PC." So, I did it. It turned out better than expected. It was magical how the parts aligned. Deal after Deal. For under $300, I converted it into a better PC than it was with "Looks + Custom Chassis". Even did pretty okay cable management for it. Then I sold the card it came with and got my graphics card from my personal and put it in. Muah, the perfect gaming and streaming combo formed. Intel + Nvidia. The only thing I would maybe do differently is also sell the hard drive and try to get a 1TB SATA SSD. Anyway, It was something that I wanted to do. Now that I have done it I want to do more builds.$543.00
