I've gone through numerous showcase PCs with hardline watercooling, RGB everywhere, and plexy/glass all around but this time I wanted something different. I was looking for out of sight instead of front and center. I wanted stealth but without sacrificing performance. That's when I decided to rack mount the system with my home server and networking equipment, in a separate location from my monitor and peripherals. A lot of research and inspiration from LTT and the like made it's way into this build. All external equipment is connected via Active Optical Cabling to another location so I rarely see the system and never hear it. This rig is primarily for gaming. Mainly eye candy single player games, VR, and space/flight sims.$3,298.94 -

At the end of the year, I had a number of gift cards on hand ready to be spent - so it was time for a new project! I took the motherboard, cpu, ram, cooler, and hard drive from an existing build and installed them all in a new case fitted with a new psu. Now that it's completed, I wish I would have purchased a case that was for micro-atx sized motherboards only. Snagged a 5800X3D when the price dropped below $300 and had an extra m-ITX motherboard around for it. Got the itch to do another build since I also had pre-ordered the FormD T1 V2 and had not done anything with it yet. I previously was using the FormD T1 V1.1, so building in something this small or style was definitely not new to me, but with this iteration, I also wanted to try and do a custom CPU waterloop. This is something that I had originally wanted to do in the V1.1, but getting enough information and finding the right parts was daunting at the time, and I held off. In addition, I had some custom PSU sleeving supplies which came in really handy with this build. As the EK 4.2 DDC PWM pump originally comes with a SATA connector for power, I took this chance to cut it off and make it a 4 pin PWM connector so that it could get power and pump speed directly from an Aquacomputer QUADRO. I also used the custom sleeving supplies to make a shorter molex power cable to connect to the QUADRO.$3,246.59 -

I use it for content creation (video editing and Photoshop) right now, and it will become even more useful as soon as I add a GPU. The previous system I was using for these tasks had only 4 Skylake cores, so doubling my core count and increasing IPC with the i7 11700k has been a big plus for productivity. I also appreciate the UHD 750 integrated graphics, which allow for 4K 60Hz output via HDMI 2.0. I wanted a visually impressive build that would really stand out, so that's why I chose the Thermaltake Tower 500 (which my family says looks a bit like a popcorn machine!) I have enough space in this case for tons of expansion over the next 6+ years.$770.67 -

This PC started off as a pre-built from Overclockers UK but had various upgrades in order to keep it more up to speed. This was a computer bought/upgraded for my cousin who lives in the UK. At this point, almost everything is replaced either with parts I purchased used, or open-box/sealed from third party sellers on places like eBay. One of the only parts remaining is the CPU. I would upgrade it, but I plan to just create him an entirely new build very soon. Due to the graphics cards constraints, only low level games are played. Mainly Minecraft, Overwatch 2, TF2, and Terraria. The computer also holds up very well for simple productivity and day to day use, e.g. schoolwork. Unfortunately, since all the money went to sourcing parts, the build does not visually look like anything special. Even the original LED RGB strips that came with the proprietary Overclockers case is broken, burning out after a few months of use. The airflow is still decent in this case however, with a solid push/pull configuration set up to take air in from small vents in the front and exhaust through the top and back. Temps stay average, which is nice. There used to be power issues as well due to a faulty PSU but I upgraded it to a sturdier unit and there have not been any problems since. The PC is able to run Minecraft, Terraria and other similar level games at 300+ FPS, and Overwatch, League, etc at around 150-180. This is more than enough for 1080p60 gameplay especially for this price. This is also while actively in Discord calls with maybe 1-2 background processes open.$675.96 -

Decided to go with zen 4 for the sake of longevity despite the higher cost. I admit that certain parts were chosen partially for their aesthetics and I got no regrets. I’ve had most of this build for months, though I just recently got the last INF fan in the back.
