So once I was able find an excuse to build a new PC, I went for it. PCPartPicker told me the 3070 wouldn't fit in this case but I saw some people make it work on Reddit so I gave it a shot. It was no small task. I had to do some serious wiggling and unorthodox screwdriver angles to make it work.$1,984.95 -

I got into PC building a few years back when I got curious about what's inside the devices we spend so much of our lives on. Since then, it's been a side-hustle and distraction from my routine life; something I can retreat to that's easier and less demanding than my other pursuits, but also gives me a little something for my efforts. This mindset has influenced my builds to maximize performance for cost, understand the science behind the decisions, and occasionally buck the trend. This build is my first venture into hardline watercooling, prompted by finding some incredibly cheap second-hand deals. I use it to work from home (which may involve running a VM), play Warzone or Halo with my buddies, and sometimes get lost in a pretty narrative experience like The Medium or The Witcher. I also mine when it's idle to recoup the cost and get one step closer to freedom from student loans. I learned a lot from the process, and while I now feel confident in my ability to hardline cool future builds, I've come to understand why Microcenter charges $800 for the process. I still feel (as I did before) that watercooling is a terrible value proposition when all options are available, but if the market continues to make GPUs valuable investment vehicles rather than expensive toys, watercooled builds may continue to be a viable alternative to out-of-stock alternatives. In that case, I plan to utilize soft tubing, an expandable AIO such as the Celsius S36, or get a distribution plate. For anyone reading this and considering diving into hardline cooling for the first time, I would recommend you only do so if you enjoy the process; it will take longer than you expect, and a single error will likely require a full loop drain and rebuild. After that, fully plan out and measure your build: it's a plumbing project and should have schematics as such. Avoid anything that isn't a 45/90 degree angle; it will be difficult to make the connection. Account for the width and length of fittings, both unscrewed and flush; when you're working with metal, tolerances are small. Get extra tubing and extra coolant (if you use a mix); you will make mistakes. And lastly, but most importantly: make sure everything is unplugged, capacitors are drained, and the BIOS battery is removed from the motherboard/protected. What is dead may never fry. Good luck!$1,985.00 -
